Emcee Construction & Management

In the construction industry, there is so much to learn.  Our company grew fast in the year that I was there. Emcee construction sent me to courses: Construction 101 and Interpretation of drawings.  There was always something to do, whether it was sending out purchase orders for new projects, sending out samples, helping with bids by calling trades to see if they were going to bid on the job and many other aspects of the construction project. In the courses I took, I was with many other professionals in the industry.  I realized that their companies were bigger and had particular departments.  Where as our company was smaller so I knew all aspects, of all departments.  I had great leaders and they taught me a lot. The most enjoyable part of the job was organizing the documents and collecting operating and maintenance manual documents.  The hardest part was getting the documents for the O&M Manuals.  It was time consuming.  My co-workers were all great and fun! Gave me lots of advice on my new house (as they were carpenters) and advice on my kids. My boss says family comes first.  At Emcee Construction and Management, we were a family. Lots of barb b qs and site supervisor meetings.

General Contractor
Mostly day shifts, some nights, job site specific.
Minimal out of town work. Indoor/outdoor. Mostly light commercial, base building, window/door/patio, city contracts.
Encourage carpentry apprenticeships. 
Training paid, ie: first aid, fall pro, aerial lift, etc.
Estimate subs used for 90% of contracts. 
Encourage journeyman to become supervisors.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Family atmosphere, quality personal. Pay is above average.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough manpower to complete jobs with ease.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hard working and positive. An appreciation for humor.

The company has good culture, and management seems to truly care about the well being of their employees. The work is commercial construction and can be fast paced so its not for everyone. There is a good field manager to make sure proper resources are provided to supervisors.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Family atmosphere, and a boss that has your back.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful thing on the job is dealing with sub trades.

The people I worked with were excellent, very skilled and friendly people. Unfortunately management has a tendency to rely heavily on workers and has a tendency to burn people out. Poor work/ personal life balance.

I really enjoyed working for this company. The people were always welcoming and cheerful and the company had a great atmosphere. The jobs were always interesting and gave me a chance to learn something new.

Great company to work for and learned many skills. Pay is fair within the carpentry trade. Weekly paid and very understanding when it came to personal issues which affected work and personal life

Management firmly believes in work life balance.  It encourages and supports each employee to be organized, efficient and independent so no one has to be watching the clock.

They have a fun employee base to work with.Yet its at time every man for themselves mentality. So no real help at end of day in regards to cleaning
