The worst professional experience I have ever had. There is a clear divide between management and other employees. Management has no problem micromanaging employees as if they're children, and manipulating schedules so that they can pay you the least amount of money possible for the maximum amount of work. The office had a huge covid outbreak where several of my coworkers were hospitalized. Management went off and worked from home, leaving the rest of us still condensed in our one-two work rooms. During the offices covid outbreak management was unaccommodating, did not allow work from home despite it being extremely plausible, and were totally unempathetic. When myself and a coworker raised issues such as these, stating that we were working in a stressful environment with no support they completely rejected us and would not even have a conversation with us. The pay is among the worst in the field, the benefits are terrible and the management is unprofessional, ineffective, and shameful. These are people who lack professional ethics and only have their own best interests in mind. Do NOT work here.

You would think the hardest part of this job is the things you see, showing up on the worst day of people's lives with your actions determining their outcomes. 

In reality, the hardest part is corporate micromanaging, being criminally underpaid, being understaffed and not getting breaks, or the time of day to use the washroom and eat a healthy meal. Work life balance is non existent because when you're not at work you're driving to work, or you're stuck on offload delay with your end of shift being 3 hours ago. And when you're not at work you can expect 10 calls a day from an automated system offering overtime.

Working with EMC means you are a number, you do not matter, and you will work until you are too sick, or mentally ill to continue and probably be denied any benefits.  I encourage any young, or new paramedics to seek employment elsewhere than the lobster trap known as EHS.

Ran into a former colleague from this company today who informed me that there are now 10 people doing roles in the same capacity as the one I did on my own back when I first worked for EMC.

Although the company has doubtless expanded since my tenure there, I would caution anyone about working here. There is a toxic culture where there is a very inequitable division of labour. Conscientious workers are just given more work to do and there is very little support or appreciation for those who put a lot of time and effort into their jobs.

In over 10 years of employment, I took one Monday-through-Friday holiday and it took me several months to get fully caught up from my "holiday".

Non-competitive wages, very poor work/life balance due to significant  shift overrun. The employer does a very poor job of disseminating information to staff. Large provincial system with significant geographical challenges yet all areas are painted with the same brush. Nearly half of your monthly income is lost in deductions to mandatory disability insurance.

Do yourself a favour, find another company. This company has a long way to go when it comes to diversity. They only hire unqualified people, because they look like them. They won’t hire you if you don’t look like them. No matter all your level of qualification. I  do hope that the New premier will look into their contract with this company and find another company that is willing to hire people that look the population they serve. 

Overall the job is simple, though the majority of management does not truly care about you, you are a worker and that's it. There are a handful of people in management and within the overall team that I truly bonded with and felt supported by. The shifts are long and very busy. You need to be prepared for the mental toll this job will take on you, and the fact there is little the management will do for you.

Do not work with EMC, they do not look after their own employees, very poor work conditions, horribly under staffed and under paid, you own mental health is worth much more than this god awful company 

Challenging, shift work, you must be dependable and adaptable. Truck checks start the shift everyday, respond to 911 calls, be able to react appropriately and quickly in stressful situations. Interact with othe health care professionals, complete patient care reports, provide exceptial customer service.

Management is a self appointed old boys club that will go out of their way to add stress to an already stressful work environment. The pay is somewhat ok with a great pension plan. Run far away!!

The most supportive, respectful, can-do place I've ever worked. Incredible people and interesting, important work. Unfortunately the workload was crushing, completely unrelenting.
