I worked at Emerson Louisville (TopWorx) for over 20 years and saw it shift from an employee-focused company to a more rigid corporate environment. While once innovative and supportive, frequent restructuring, reduced transparency, and unclear decision-making have led to declining morale. Despite financial stability, workplace culture and communication have weakened, creating ongoing challenges for employees.

Advice to Job Seekers
If you’re considering a position here, it’s important to ask about the company’s direction and how it supports employees. While there are opportunities, potential candidates should carefully evaluate whether the current environment aligns with their long-term career goals.

I worked through shut down at Emerson in Edmonton. Everyone is helpful and consistantly share their expertise. The days are 10 hour minumum and you can work more if there is work available. Management allows for personal growth and doesn't push an expectation. 
Conversations during all hours are common and a positive attitude is encouraged. 
Management make attempts to make employees feel valued and promote safety and listen to feedback.
Daily morning weekday meetings and weekly meeting are held to touch base with all workers.
Coffee is unlimited and often various refreshments are offered particularly on hot or heavy workload days.
Equiptment is in good to very good condition and there is a large variety to choose from. Often jobs can be selected within your skillset and most common tooling is available. Specialty items are provided however 
It is best to have your own variety of tools and measuring items to avoid search time or the need to improvise. 
There are quite a few long term employees however I believe there is also a fairly common turn over as well. 
Management openly express concerns with foul language and bad attitudes. Culture is important to them and troublesome employees will not last long in the enviornment. 
I enjoyed my time there despite a large amout of repetative jobs. Long term employment may produce  a lack of variety however the pay and enviornment help to make up for it.

typical day of work is oftentime repetitive and routine every start of work have to wear PPE safety meeting and sign production list. I have learned a lot about working safe all the time always being aware of hazards surrounding the shop premises. I also learned about how to get along with co workers and work as a team to accomplish the jobs on hand and how to courteous and respectful of each other. With regards to the management team they always ensure that everybody follows the safety rules and guidelines of the shop because every injury is treated as a major blow to the company operation. the hardest part of the job is a company shutdown and massive layoff of employees. The most enjoyable part of the job is accomplishing the whole year without any accident or injury recorded and each one gets a tap on the back and a bonus after each year the company makes a profit.

Starting with the most positive: group activities and team building were a highlight. There were many group lunches and organized activities - money was no object when it came to this. A handful of long-term employees were very easy to bond with and learn from. 

The not-so-positive: the culture, which had originally seemed so fun and inclusive, was ultimately "a pig in lipstick". Undeniably toxic, slowly revealing a work environment built on favouritism, nepotism and poor behaviours. Many issues went unsolved, many struggles went unchecked. Additionally, the performance and wage review structure, as well as internal surveys, did not seem to serve employees as intended. It felt as though many high-performing employees were overlooked - alongside the many issues. 

I worked here for about a year and a half on a contract, after my first year, my contract was extended for another year. My job was basically order picking compressors (heavy lifting) and moving them to staging lanes for shipments. Once everything was staged it was my job to also load the trailers. Quite an important job for someone on a contract. Management and HR were awful at communication of any kind, in fact I was never able to access my pay stubs the entire time I worked there. (Brought it up to HR many times and eventually just gave up) Plant manager avoided confrontation of any kind and passed it down to his right hand man. All this being said, the workplace had some great people, younger crowd, decent environment, and some perks every now and again. 

There are a few great things about working here, A lot of free food, a great kitchen, and drink maker made coming to work feel like home. The building is very old with mouse traps and asbestos ( in floor and pipes )

There were also a lot of not so good aspects of working here. Let me describe some of those issues. Management communicates unprofessionally. A lot of gossiping on the floor. Supervisor absent or nowhere’s to be found during the shift making issues hard to solve. Supervisor showed the resumes of other applicants to floor workers. Team Leader bragged about being a functioning alcoholic constantly. Weekly floor meetings full of petty criticism with no encouragement whatsoever. 

Overall an easy place to work with potential filled with a negative work culture which is encouraged by the Operational Manager. 

-The good part of the job is great pay and excellent benefits if you do pass probation, which is a big deal from day one when you step in there
-The Bad parts are:
- lack of job security, they hire and fire at will ( this posting has been up about 10 times the previous year and they are not expanding)
- They are unwilling to train individuals and decisions are not based on equality and merit
-Bad management, the supervisors are one and the same and only care about themselves, the supervisor is a management stooge and will never stand up for his team.
-Poor training, unwilling to train employees and do not treat employees equally 
-lots of the older guys have worked there so long so keep back stabbing and talking about eachother 
-Unfriendly and unwelcoming environment


Nice modern place to work with good or best tools and equipment to finish a job and  be proud off.  Great and friendly very helpful employee.
Most of them were so. Unfortunately there was change in lead hand position and immediate next position in management.  Bad apple spread out went higher and higher all the way to HR position who was there only once a month.  Had to quit didn't feel safe lead hand was dangerous by setting traps like loosening late chuck etc.  Former police officer part of lower management  also quit when found what they were doing.
It was long time ago hope those people are all gone and Emerson Edmonton is again great company to work for as always was except for those couple of bad apples.

Pros;
-Good Pay that grows fairly fast + Onsite premiums
-Great Pension with employer contributions 
-People on the floor very friendly
Cons;
-Extremely unstable hours making home life difficult.
-Management focused only on their goals in order to achieve a bonus. 
  This leaves the technicians on the floor struggling to complete their 
   task with no manager support.  
-Saying no to overtime will get you into the bad books. Saying no to 
 travel is also a no no.
-Onsite bonus sounds amazing but management will do everything they can not to pay it including moving your "regular hours" hours before your shift in order to cancel overtime. 
-Managers are too afraid to stick their head out in order to protect workers under them. 

Always came into work and had something to do. Looked forward to going to work everyday. Managers were great and always helpful. Co-workers were fun to work it and were also very helpful. Learned a lot through this company since it was my first Electrical Engineering company I drafted for. Learned more advanced skills in AutoCAD that I didn't learn at SAIT. Experienced different projects and thier different standards and expectations. Most enjoyable part of the job was working with great and experienced people. Hardest part of the job was meeting crucial deadlines but was always able to meet them.
