Deal directly with the 8 installers, make sure all their paperwork was ready. Contact customers daily to set up measure dates and install dates when their product was in the store. Do the daily banking and deposit it to the bank. Work on the sales floor when needed, take of all the filing. Answer the phones, and maintain spreadsheets to keep track of installs, measures, and completed jobs per installer. Write cheques to the installers weekly. 
I learned to time manage myself, customer service.
The management was great to work with.
My co-workers were great we always worked as a team.
The hardest part of my job was to make sure that the customers were always happy.
Dealing with customers and seeing how happy they were with the service they got from the company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Having a day off and not dealing with the toxic atmosphere of management and people who don’t know how to do their jobs properly and dealing with job sites that aren’t quoted properly

Not knowing if you’re going to be paid or not getting paid on time 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful and exhausting it was very stressful dealing with a  narcissist of an owner some days were okay when the owner wasn’t in and only had to deal with the sales people and warehouse staff 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant changes of warehouse staff being trained

Don’t ever ever make the mistake of working at end of the roll in COURTNEY BC, the absolute most miserable environment ever, how a franchise can be allowed to operate like that is beyond reality, I have never experienced so much back stapping, secretive talking about everyone and anything that you do, This place is bent on belittling you   Betraying you,  and throwing you under the bus any chance they get, there is ZERO management at this place, ZERO training, and the manager and evil sales lady will blame you for anything and everything weather you had anything to do with it or not.         DEFINITELY STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE

Within a 5 day period, there was little to no training - was expected to know the whole process - with no preparation.  Work environment was not positive. 
Was "trained" by someone that clearly didn't want to be there and told me he was leaving.
With 4 days - I was approached about 'changing my salary' even though it had been agreed upon.

The 'manager' has little to no experience managing, conflict resolution, motivation or organization. They seemed to escalate it, and then blame the outcome on the team.

30 minute unpaid lunches - you were expected to work through them.

The owner and Manager are down to earth people.
Low key.😇

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When theres no  customer coming in, and we are waiting, and nothing to do, except tidying up the place ..



What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very open and nice people. Every one cynchronize  to the job that need to be done on time. Helping each other is a nice good attitude inside work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, lots of catching up customers work orders and some are follow up thru the jobs done.

while i worked at the edmonton end of the rool stores it was a great experience. the management was good, coworkers were compitetent, sales were good and every one got equal opportunities to succeed. the red deer store was completely different. the owners only cared about money, often taking sales from their sales people saying that they knew that customer from before you started, they already made money from the sales, but they wanted more.

So you want to be a carpet salesman in 2022 do ya? Straight commission, old-school sales techniques to an old school crowd. Practice your pitches, overcoming objections, and your strong closes, and you might make a couple bucks. Firm handshake and a winning smile will get you everywhere. 

Retail sales may be a dying profession but here's a last gasp of air in all its glory... have fun with it because it's not something that's gonna exist in a few short years.

Diverse functions which makes the day go by faster. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Alot of customer conflict resolution required. No work life balance as are open stats and never get two days in a row off. Straight commission but required to do non commission duties. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful with very moody co-workers.

No two days were ever the same. We installed many different products i.e. Carpet, vinyl, tile, hardwood, laminate. So very rarely would two days be the same square footage, or product, which kept things fresh. Management was always flexible between the installer and homeowners needs, making the best out of some potentially negative situations .

If you are interested in having conflicting instructions every day this may be the place for you. The owner is actually a decent human being ,I would have enjoyed working for him and learning from him. He has years of experience and knowledge to draw from and pass on. His manager is a different story entirely. One person I talked to in passing reffered to them as "Human Cancer."
