I started on the coldest month of the year, it was very cold during my shift standing in the street and man did it hurt me and made me sick a few times in just the first month, I took time off….. but it’s worth it and here is why. The work is to be friendly and approachable, educate strangers about the cause, and persuade strangers to sign up for month to month donation. You are not preying on people’s emotions for your commissions. But rather you are trying to ignite people to have emotions and you ask them to help other in need. If you act very desperate and pushing strangers with words, of course they will feel unsafe and walk away. You are asking strangers to offer their bank info on the street, it is only normal to walk away if something you said doesn’t show you are at their best of interest a.k.a on their side. Worst yet, there are scammers on the street pretending to be you and try to trick. You don’t want to be act the part of being mistaken as a “friendly” person who is trying to scam someone on bank info. I think anyone who work this job also need to understand you are never acting as a ambassador of charity standing there getting attention. You are there to  ignite emotions, and ask the person to help out right away on the spot. It’s not easy to be able to achieve, and it is harder to put the process in just a few sentences or even on the filed training. That’s why some people who work here may feel alone and helpless and say that “there is no training” . Yes you can teach some facts and data, even some rejection handling techniques to a fresh new fundraiser. But the art of articulation, communication, and thinking on your feet while encountering strangers can’t be taught by simple training. It needs hours of practice to be able to understand how to do. It requires showing up for work and mentally be there when standing on the street and walking up to talk to strangers.  Recap on some encounters in the end of the day, putting them down on pen and paper. A person getting on board for a small(cancel anytime) monthly subscription based donation counts as a deal. Sometimes you may face turbulence while trying to reach your sales goals because there are of course strangers from all walks of life, and they can do worst than saying no when being approached. Reasonable because well it is the general public you going against after all. You may find college students, or fresh grad that work this job, and most of them may quit after a few bad encounters or a few bad days without sales. That’s ok. I get to practice my English when pitching to strangers and answering questions they may have while getting paid for it. I’m happy doing it. You will have to meet goals and obviously constant weeks of having no deal can lead to both you and your employer upset which ultimately ends the work relationship. Because 1) you are not getting the income you pictured in the end  2) the employer and manager have to explain for all the zeros, all the time. But realistically you are never getting zeros all the time if you really commit. There are like minded people out there who are able to help a charity and they will do so. An important part to help connect those people with the charity is to communicate with them the right way. Don’t listen when other people may say this work is about headless chickens preying on unfortunate strangers for their bank info. You inner voice may also tell you that what you do requires next to no education and being a robot on the street is a waste of time and can’t get you any viable work experience. But that’s not true. If this work involves any of the above mentioned chaos, the police and security team wouldn’t have stood by do nothing or even acknowledge the street fundraiser as they walk by. Only if fundraisers start trespassing to fundraiser prohibited areas or start using illegal methods to persuade. But that is another story for another person to talk about. Your manager knows best where to go or not to go.  Back on topic, for this work you will gain much better understanding on how to present an idea using the correct word choice and tone, how to use proper body language, how to counter reasons of objections properly in a way that doesn’t make the person feel they are being calculated and that you have a prepared answer to “just another scenario”. All of these can only be understood how to do properly if you be on the field working and actively thinking about it, pay close attention to how strangers respond, recap with pen and paper, practice on your own, and test it out again the next time on the field. You don’t have to stick to working one job for long term or settle forever. No one ever do that to any type of job in the world of today. Even people doing a relatively more stable and prestigious job like computer programmer, teachers, accountant, etc. Things change and people always have job changes, even entire career change. But while you work this job. Not only this can bring you income on commissions for doing a great job gaining supporters for charity. But also gain the communication skill can be transferred to many other job of work environment later in life. If you have a career plan to be a car salesperson, mortgage broker,  investment advisor, etc.  This work can prepare you for it because of the overlapping skills that you can start practicing now. People with little to no education background may not have the mindset develop their skill while working in this job. After all, anyone can stand on the street, be given a script, and pitch everyone with a fake smile. We all know that this is not what the job is about. What you do and how you do the job while you are at it makes the world of difference. Those mindset were taught along side the textbook subjects required knowledge in the post secondary schools that you went to, the secondary school, the primary school. Never discredit yourself for the education you’ve received that shaped who you are today. 

I would like to say this is an amazing place to work an I’m genuinely confused about this conning recieving  a single bad review. This could be competitor companies reviewing badly?? Anyway, I started working here a few months ago and it’s made my life better. Not just because of the money I make here which is really good, better than any hourly job, and it’s consistent and stable. But this job also made my life better because everyone, including management and directors, at extremely nice and welcome and amazing people. I think there are people who get angry because it’s just not the right job for them or because they are angry that management pushes them to be a better version of themselves. They truly do care, it’s very genuine. So many people have worked here for a long time too and it’s for a reason. I’m very happy to be here and I think anyone has anyone says is untrue and unfair. If you don’t like the job don’t leave the bad review and don’t blame the company. I’ve tried this same job with other companies before who didn’t treat me well. Here, they treat me well. 

I love this job so much!!! This is the first time I can wake up happy and actually excited for to work. It doesn’t really feel like work when I’m there because I’m with the team and they’re all like family and friends to each other, including managers and directors. Right away I felt so welcomed from my first day, and accepted. They motivate me to do well and to be successful and because of that and all their support, I make really good money here. It’s not just that, it’s about learning and growing as a person. But the money is a nice bonus as I live on my own without any family in Canada. But now I have a new family. At this job. It feels amazing and I recommend this job to anyone who’s outgoing or who wants to learn how to be outgoing because I’ve seen a lot of shy people come here and completely transform. I was a little shy at first. Amazing place to work. Anyone who ever thought otherwise must have come for one minute and left and not given it a real chance. I don’t know. 

I quit after just one day. The entire experience was humbling, dehumanizing, and extremely anticlimactic. While the employees are friendly, the managers and higher-ups create a deeply flawed work environment. The day starts with meeting other new hires at a building, where you are handed a script about a charity to memorize. You then spend the next 8 hours at an intersection, persistently approaching people to solicit donations. They don't care about you; they only care about getting donations and are insincere about their passion for helping the community. If you fail to secure donations, you're guaranteed $250 for the week, but they'll let you go if you don't meet their expectations. Save yourself the trouble and look for a job that genuinely values you.

I liked how the team worked together and was very inclusive. I like the causes we were supporting/fundraising for. I think the training is very good, and they offer it little by little so that you don’t have to learn everything the very first day or week. I got paid on time every week, I got paid in full, and I know it’s not hourly, but when I was hired I was given a very detailed and thorough talk about exactly how I was going to be paid. It is up to me if I agreed to it or not, and I’m happy I did because I did very well, and I was able to help important causes at the same time. I was paid way over minimum wage.  It makes no difference if it’s hourly or not. I left after 4 months because my school hours conflicted with work.

I’ve experienced nothing but kindness from all managers and co-workers. The job can be hard on moments but the managers and directors help you through it with ease. You always feel supported and never alone. We have goals to hit for the charities so if we aren’t reaching goal they teach us how to get there and improve, they try to make us all better than mediocre and maybe that’s why some people cannot handle the job, if you want to just stand around all day and not get things done then don’t do this job. If you are hard working and want to progress on your skills then this is the place for you. I worked here for months and I’m very happy. There are a lot of competitors, maybe they tried to bring this company  down because I feel this is a way better fundraising company than the others in Toronto.

Coworkers are absolutely amazing, super kind and always helping with achieving goals.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pushing past that mental barrier right at the beginning, especially if you have a negative mindset.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing, you’re surrounded by people growing that want you to grow with them. There can be times where it’s rough mentally, but it’s almost always positive.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting hyped to create change in the morning, then heading out and talking to as many people as possible and ending the day reflecting with the team and hyped about a good day or reflecting on what could’ve been done better for the future.

I think the job is easy to get compared to a lot but that's because it's so difficult. 
During my time there everyone was always nice to me though some of my co-workers weren't treated the same which made the mood bad a lot of the time.
The job is hard you have to stand outside for the whole day and have to be in a good mood while approaching/talking to people 24/7 which isn't possible.
WARNING: Don't apply for this job if you have a conscience, your role will be to go up to random people on the street and disturb them into giving you money. Your managers will get upset if you don't bother people, even if they aren't going to donate. I've had people starting to yell at me and my manager said why did you let her go.
Finally, the pay isn't very good some people can find success but I would say 90% or more cannot and that's generous.

One thing to say if you’re planning to make a living out of this “job”: RUN AWAY!
Very low pay and constant gaslighting from managers/directors when it comes to things you didn’t know about. 
They keep bringing you down no matter how hard you try and blaming you for things you can’t control (not everyone).
They use you for free advertising to the charities they support and not pay you even $10 an hour.
I could write more things about this terrible company but this was a small warning to anyone planning to work for these scammers.

The job is pretty easy when you're new. There's not much pressure and you've got supportive bosses who help you along the way but it can be exhausting since you're on your feet most of the day, sometimes in poor weather conditions. If you're an energetic and outgoing person who actually enjoys talking to others, you should absolutely take this job. If you're the opposite, I really wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to give yourself a challenge.
