Escents Aromatherapy

A typcial day at work consisted of giving customers a connection with our brand and products. 
I learned a lot about Aromatherapy through training and during my shifts. With that knowledge, I would tell it to customers so they can have the same aromatherapy knowledge. 
My store and area managers have always been amazing, but the people of head office weren't. It was very difficult to communicate with them, and we would get our stock very late, resulting in promotions starting later and unhappy customers. 
The hardest part of the job was communicating with head office regarding customers or employees concerns. We always had direct contact with them, but the replies would always be very delayed.
The most enjoyable part of the job was making customers happy with my coworkers. They are the nicest people I have ever met.

One of the greatest chellenges that I have encountered at my current and former work environment is the diversity of clients and people that I interact with everyday. In my opinion, all individual differences and preferences should be respected and that is by carefully listening to other's needs and provide the right support and assistance that one is asking for. To work in an interactive environment, I have to always be alert and keep my mind open with the surrounding and respond to any possible conficts or situations that requireds attention. That way, things will be addressed accordingly and my work performances would be performed effectively and efficiently. Having a can-do attitude is what I believe because such attitude can shine through my actions and I am confident that as long as I give in my best, any possible issues could be addressed perfessionally.

honestly, this job is not worth it. There is absolutely no stability, the higher ups kept wanting to cut hours even though some employees signed contracts saying that they get to work a certain amount of hours. The owner cared more about saving money than the well being of her employees. She would put work onto sales associates without training them or giving them a raise, like answering customer service emails and phone calls. Which most of the times the sales associates didn't know the answer to the questions that customers had about online orders since that is not the sales associates responsibility  please, its not worth the headache

The company is really terrible. Does not care to take care of its employees on the ground floor. We often had to investigate reasons why we weren't being paid on time. And payment methods would change frequently (weekly) from direct deposit to cheques back to direct deposit (and sometimes even e-transfers). All the folks at HO were mean spirited, secretive, elusive, and disrespectful. Taxes (T4s) were done incorrectly and record of wrong amounts being deducted was documented. Very VERY unprofessional. Often did not feel safe working there.

Escents was awfully managed. The manager treated you like a friend instantly of an employee and when you asked questions about things, she would shut them down and tell you to read the manual or procedures. She was insanely rude and didn’t bother to listen to the staff. The coworkers were only so-so. They were prissy and cliquey and it just felt very uncomfortable. The discount was nice though.

Helping people with aromatherapy, the discount was great too

The fact that they closed our store and gave us less than 24 hr notice

Don't do it. There are much better options out there. This company is ironically the most stress inducing place because the CEO has no rhyme or reason, logic and most definitely zero leadership skills. The stores are confused about what's happening because even staff at head office are confused about what's happening because the CEO is a hot mess.

The job affected my digestion from the anxiety. Haven’t needed medical attention since quitting.

I learnt so much working in an aromatherapy store, from essential oil knowledge to gaining sales experience. It was hectic at times especially in busy periods (Christmas etc) but it was also quite laid back at times, and I got to spent a lot of time one on one with customers at times.

Management not skilled in dealing with staff.  But a nice enough place to work.  Additional training on products is given.  I learned a lot about using aromatherapy for health.
