Been at Essential for a bit now in the shop. I would say busy time you spend 60% of your time in the shop and 40% of your time in the field when you're rotated on call its not straight field coverage, if you get called out then you go complete the repair, but you are not required to work your entire set away from home. Contrary to other service companies i have never heard the words "We cannot afford that*, they are starting to see the value in fixing equipment the right way and the callouts in retrospect are decreasing. The hours are the best, as long as you give them a heads up they are very accomodating. They have signed the shop up for multiple training courses. The biggest difference is the shop crew. We are tight knit and very supportive, there is zero backstabbing  and bullcrap. Also the scope of work is never the same. One day you will be repairing the top end of a high horsepower engine the next your digging into schematic trying to figure out a complex hydraulic issue. The biggest drawback is the weird contractor relationship they have in grande prairie. 

I worked for Tryton Tools a division of Essential Energy, they were a former customer of my previous employer. Tryton is a fun and intelligent company that spares no expense on things like the gym they have built into the edmonton branch and coffee and lunches and business functions. You will be paid a fair wage with incentives but most importantly treated with respect. I worked in Edmonton for about 8 months then was asked to work in the field at the Whitecourt branch (also really good people there to). I would still be an employee today had it not slowed down and i wasn't laid off. Miss the people and the perks.

Friendship works,if you have friends here it is a very powerful advantage.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting a field supervisor to  accept you not anything about the job

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company and employees in maintenance good safety standards 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mobilize equipment to jobsite Rigging,running the equipment and maintain it 
so physical job there, but not too much for a hard worker.
There’s lots of time to rest.

Id say over 90% of the people here are great to work with. They have a few typical "old school" oilfield people but they're a dying breed. Essential does a good job keeping great people around. So your less likely to be stuck with those usual old school grating people. I definitely recommend Essential for a career in Coil and Pumps. Great pay, great equipment and great people.

Was employed at the Tryton division of Essential Energy in the Edmonton warehouse. Very hard working people at this location, but unfortunately extremely under paid for the workload they expect you to perform. Pay raises are extremely hard to come by, if ever. Very long days without a warning of longer then your normal work shift. No path for advancement, unless you want to work in the field away from home. 

It is a decent temporary job with okay people but the workload expected of you is not worth the wage. Would not return. 

Not to impressed with the company I first started with in the oil field. Management went downhill as the company acquired Technicoil. Salaries were cut, field supervisors were moved to other positions and teams fell apart. 

The biggest drawback was when they decided they were no longer paying for Hotel rooms, instead you were expected to pay yourself only to be reimbursed, which would be ok if they didnt tax you on top of the tax you paid when checking out. Same goes for daily allowance...

Hours can be daunting , winter weather can affect times and travel 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mostly great , has bumps but not many 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work involves verifying pumps are ready to work , driving to location , rig inn, rig out , paperwork , travel back to base , help out around the shop and others if need be .

We would head out to work at about 5 am most mornings. Some days we would not return back until very late depending on what needed to be done.
As a derrick hand, I was up and down the stick all day pulling rods and managing those duties. The hardest part of the job was the constant physical aspect and being expected to work just as hard in minus 40 to plus 40. 
I enjoyed the crew that I worked with on the Rig, working with them made the day worth it and the biggest reason for me hanging on.

Nothing is they treat you like a number, you are not important enough to be trusted

The uncertainty of not knowing if you are going to be paid properly 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s like you’re in a cult if you’re not in the in crowd you are treated terribly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not fun at all,  your boss is only there for himself

What is the best part of working at the company?
Overtime hours are time and a half 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Driving the big units in bad weather

Still cowboys being lead by miss managed service rig hands

Eat drive coil rig out pt bops
