Evident's Olympus products are world-class, but some of the products are outdated and can't compete anymore, yet management sets ridiculous expectations on them. Targets change quickly, and so does remuneration. Bonuses are adapted yearly to become more and more of a stretch goal with no input from the employees. Some managers are great and will lead well; others are just there to climb the rungs and hide behind the "I don't micromanage" and not manage their teams. Upper management is under a lot of pressure to make more money for the Bain overlords, and they let products that aren't near completion go on the market. Pay is industry standard, commission is good, vacation is standard, and the work-from-home policy is below average (if you can find such a document). Working with the US most of the time for things like getting orders put through and service quotes generated is frustrating. Currently, they are going through a lot of change, which is excellent, but that also means no one is safe in their job. Many people are amazing, and you learn a lot. The brand is still well known (until they are forced to change it). Learn what you can while in your role. The skills are very transferable.

-Hardest part of the job: Communication: I think is when other departments need to inform you that they have/take something that belong to your department, but instead they kind of forgot to tell you and then later in the day or the week you have to communicate with every department that you think is responsible for the missing objects then go to their department and take back whats yours.... I mean we loss a lot of precious time just because some people just don't communicate !( In the last comment I think the company is not to blame but only some people who work there for the lack of communication!)

But for the rest there nothing to complain about!

Have been working in Evident for the past 4+ month. 
The Company has helped a lot with my relocation and supported me at every stage.
Neither French nor English is my first language and yet I can sincerely tell you that I didn't come across any difficulties in communication with my colleagues. On the contrary, they do everything possible to help and support.

Furthermore, there are lots of other nice things e.g. good gym (targeted mostly on CrossFit; not a typical bodybuilding one), good food in canteen (and and a number of ovens/microwaves to heat up food from home), relax zone with some Xbox stuff, foosball table, various sports activities and events (including Company parties), decent health care package, cinema tickets etc.

I am an English-speaking person.  I know some French, but English is my first language.  I have been with Evident for roughly 2 months now and can say I have never been as respected as I am here.  The other employees, and all my bosses understand my situation and can say that whether I speak English or French I am respected and supported.  The people here are very nice.  I am very happy here and see a great future here.  

Since this is an american leaded buisness, chances of advancement for an IT employee is pretty much impossible.  All good project are launched outside of Quebec City.

The lack of management skills employee, make it very difficult to achieve goals and to get promotions. 

However, working environment is awesome, lots of activities and Job Work/Life Balance is incredible.

The atmosphere is very lively and promotes teamwork. Management is willing to listen and make improvements as much as they can. However, being a larger company, bigger changes can take time. 
The work/life balance is highly appreciated.

god place to go if you are a engineer in training so you understand what a bad place to work is like

It's a great company that is working hard to keep their leader place in the city. 

They offer a lot of training, they have a great gym
