I worked for Evolution AV for almost a year as an audio-visual technician in Vancouver.

Overall, my experience with the company was not professional. During my time there, I witnessed many employees either being terminated or choosing to leave.

From the very beginning, I noticed significant issues. There was no proper training on how to report your hours or understand how the company operates. On your first day, you’re sent straight to work without any orientation or preparation.

One major issue is the lack of company vehicles. Employees are often required to use their own vehicles for work. Additionally, I was sent on service calls with a company laptop that was barely functional. In some cases, I was asked to use the client’s laptop instead, which was both embarrassing and unprofessional. Many clients refused, leaving me to scramble for alternative solutions. To make matters worse, the company didn’t provide access to tools like Excel and no accounts such as Crestron or Qsys and more,  making it difficult to troubleshoot and perform tasks effectively. yet they still expected reports and tasks to be completed efficiently.

There are many other issues that would take too long to list. However, I can also mention that the benefits, like insurance, are the cheapest possible. You definitely shouldn't rely on them for adequate coverage.

That said, there are a few good people at the company, and the lead technician is a great person to work with.

So, is Evolution AV worth it? If you have other options, I would recommend going with those instead. If you don’t have any alternatives, this job could serve as a temporary solution until you find something better otherwise you will likely get terminated because I found no technician completed one year of experience with Evolution AV except the lead technician.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Independently Canadian-owned and operated. The owners are hands-on, they care, and they are willing to invest in people and process. The work is dynamic and constantly changing. 

It's small enough that you realize your opinion matters and is heard. And big enough to actually action those same ideas.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As of right now, Evolution AV is in a major shifting phase from a small to a large company. Which is exciting, but also means there are a lot of growing pains in building systems and processes from scratch and making sure they scale. Things are fast-moving, and you need to be self-driven. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It has a small company feel, everyone knows each other. We have a culture of speaking your mind, expressing problems, and coming together as a team to solve them. The Management team makes a habit of listening to all team members, regardless of time spent at the company.

The company is very process driven, in the interests of efficiency and delivering consistent results. The majority of staff are true professionals who really know their stuff and are passionate about providing the best outcomes for the customer. The flexible management provides enough leniency to the staff to ensure that everyone is satisfied in their own unique situations.

Evolution AV is a great mix of small business culture and big company opportunities. There isn't an overwhelming hierarchy within the departments and management makes themselves available to support the various teams whenever possible. Many employees have been with the company for years as Evolution will do what they can to continue to offer growth opportunities. 

Evolution AV has changed and grown over the time I've worked here.
They have always had a fantastic team with really great people.
If you work hard and show your value, you will thrive at this company.
The AV industry is an ever changing industry, and Evolution follows that. They are always changing and adapting while continuously improving and developing their employees.

This company was able to provide me training and experience that allowed me to be where I am at today.

The problem with this company is everything goes to the son of the CEO. It was near impossible to get raises unless you were offered jobs from other companies and then received a counter offer.

Working at evolution is a challenging job, due to the technical and physical aspects. But it's also deeply rewarding, they support learning And growth and I've had the pleasure of working with and for some amazing people. Having a knack for technology would be the main before applying but everything else is thoroughly taught.  The leads are good teachers and the managers take the time to support growth. Also probably the most safety oriented company I've worked for. 

The team they have work hard and are fairly close knit. I worked with a lot of great people. The work is fast paced during busy seasons and could be a lot of hours but I don't mind the overtime. 

The hardest part of the job was dealing with unreasonable clients. The most enjoyable was working with the team and learning some of the equipment I would not have had the chance otherwise.

Overall, its a good job if you are looking to work in the AV industry.

There are some great people at Evolution who are enthusiastic about AV and what they do. Room for growth for those who are driven, accountable and strive to achieve.  The goal is growth and long last relationships both with staff and clients.   Management is accessible and transparent with company goals and performance.  Focused on training and advancement. 

The culture of this company is great and fosters a friendly working environment. Seniors and management are humble and hardworking. The company supports ownership of one's careers and supports career development. It is a company that has a purpose, which in turn gives you purpose.
