I began my employment in 2025 as a Frontline Worker. During my time in that role, I found the direct home supervisors to be supportive, respectful, and committed to both staff and client success. Their leadership was one of the strongest aspects of the organization and played a significant role in creating a positive work environment.

After several months, I was promoted to Program Supervisor. Unfortunately, my experience in leadership differed significantly from my experience on the front line. In this role, I frequently felt unsupported by upper management, including Program Managers and Directors. Seeking guidance on client care, staffing concerns, crisis situations, or program operations was often met with frustration or made to feel like an inconvenience. Rather than receiving mentorship and support, I regularly found myself relying on fellow supervisors for assistance, many of whom were already managing overwhelming workloads of their own.

One of the most concerning issues was the lack of training and preparation provided for the increasingly complex client needs being brought into programs. Staff and supervisors were often expected to support individuals with significant behavioural, mental health, medical, or safety concerns without receiving adequate training, resources, or ongoing professional development. This created unnecessary risk for both employees and clients and left many staff feeling unprepared to provide the level of care that clients deserved.

The on-call system was also highly problematic. During on-call rotations, there were periods where I received little to no sleep for multiple consecutive days due to constant calls, crises, and staffing shortages. Despite this, there remained an expectation to report for regular shifts the following morning. This practice was not only unsustainable but also raised serious concerns regarding employee well-being, workplace safety, decision-making, and the quality of care being delivered to vulnerable clients.

Work-life balance was also a significant concern. Despite the expectation that supervisors remain accessible outside of regular working hours, work phones were not provided. Instead, personal phone numbers were routinely shared throughout the organization with staff, clients, families, community partners, and other stakeholders. This resulted in frequent calls, texts, and work-related communication during evenings, weekends, days off, and even while on vacation. There was little separation between personal and professional life, making it difficult to disconnect from work responsibilities and maintain healthy boundaries. The expectation of constant availability, combined with the demands of on-call responsibilities, contributed heavily to employee burnout and created an environment where work often extended far beyond scheduled hours without adequate support or recognition.

Additionally, there appeared to be a concerning lack of consistency and professionalism in how staff were managed. It often felt as though employees who were not personally favoured by management faced increased scrutiny, unequal treatment, or disciplinary action. In some cases, staff appeared to be terminated or pushed out without transparent communication, meaningful support, or clear justification. This created a culture of uncertainty and fear rather than one focused on growth, accountability, and collaboration.

While there are dedicated frontline employees and supervisors who genuinely care about the people they support, the organization's challenges with leadership, communication, staff support, training, and workplace culture significantly impacted employee morale and the quality of services provided. Meaningful improvements in management practices, supervisor support, staff training, and operational accountability would greatly benefit both employees and clients alike.

Before accepting a position, I would strongly recommend asking detailed questions about training, scheduling, documentation expectations, management support, and how employee concerns are addressed. My experience left me feeling that communication and organizational processes were not as strong as they should be, which created unnecessary stress in an already demanding field. The youth deserve dedicated staff, and the staff deserve clear leadership and support.


We have new leadership that is fairly recent, but I’m super optimistic and excited about it. I feel the commitment towards a lot of exciting changes. We are really working towards building a solid staff from the ground up. We’re really focused on hearing the feedback re: what the issues have been in the past and addressing that as we go forward. We’re getting feedback on the ground that people are loving the new team members we’re adding and the new changes we are making.

One of the things that I’m most excited about is I can sense we are really focused on helping our internal employees advance in their careers. I cannot stress this enough – growth opportunities are here right now. If you are a front line worker who is looking for that responsibility and looking to move up into a supervisor role – this is a really good place right now because the opportunities are here. We also have some exciting changes coming with regards to upgrading and integrating the digital technologies we use, which will make the job feel more "modern".

I'm super excited about things - leaving it 3* since I'm new - let's see what happens. But I am really excited about the team we are building now.


**Worst Experience Ever – Terrible Management!**

I recently worked at this company and can confidently say it was the worst job experience I’ve ever had. The management is utterly dysfunctional and completely out of touch with reality. Instead of offering guidance or support, they seem to thrive on confusion, miscommunication, and micromanagement. 

I was let go suddenly, with no clear explanation, after months of enduring disorganized workflows, unrealistic expectations, and a total lack of leadership. The management doesn't know how to handle conflicts, provide constructive feedback, or foster any kind of positive work environment. It's a toxic atmosphere where favoritism reigns and employees are left to fend for themselves.

This company lacks any sense of direction, and it’s clear they don’t care about their staff—only about pushing them out the door when it’s convenient. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for employment. This place is a mess, and it will do nothing but drain your time and energy.

As a Program Manager with Bridging Family Care, I can honestly say how proud I am to be part of such an amazing organization. The work we do is meaningful and rooted in compassion, and I’m constantly inspired by the dedication and heart of our frontline staff. They are truly incredible consistently going above and beyond to provide quality care and create safe, supportive environments for the individuals we serve.

Leadership encourages collaboration, open communication, and growth at every level. There’s a real sense of teamwork and shared purpose  everyone pulls together to problem-solve, support one another, and celebrate the progress we see in our clients and programs every day.

I absolutely love my teams and feel grateful to work alongside such committed, caring, and professional people. If you’re looking for a workplace that values its staff and believes in making a difference, BFC is the place to be.

After working a year at this company i'm very sure they don't actually care about the well-being of employees or clients. The schedule is inconsistent and makes work-life balance hard. They have horrible benefits that do not help if you are injured or sick. The benefits only help for doctors or dentists visits and prescription medications. If you are physically injured or develop mental health issues they won't help you. They won't provide paid time off when injured. They do not work with WSIB. They are understaffed and don't care that their current employees are over-worked. They don't look out for their clients mental health. They will isolate their clients till their breaking point. If you care about your health this is not the job for you.

I was so excited to get this job. It was a more senior role for me so I knew I was going to be able to really excel in the position. I have to say I’ve never stepped foot in such a shady environment. Management is an absolute nightmare. They are completely unprofessional and gossip about their frontline staff. The turnover here is massive. Within the short amount of time I was there, a number of people quit with short notice. All documentation is paper, nothing digitalized so the clients’ every movement is documented minute by minute in books. Training is nonexistent. You’re basically thrown in and told to lean on your team for support, meanwhile your team is drowning. Please find somewhere else to work, don’t waste your time here. Find an organization that cares about their staff and their clients.

The management does not do anything to help the staff or listen to complaints from staff regarding safety 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Staff are able to bully other staff and not complete their shift duties while asking newer staff to take on their responsibilities. Management will do little to nothing about this.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When you get to your shift, there is a binder with suggested shift duties. You support one of the people in the house at a time. Shift duties include personal care, cooking, cleaning and documentation

Working at Bridging Family Care has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From day one, I’ve felt valued, supported, and part of a team that genuinely cares about both the clients we serve and the people who make it all happen.

I worked at This company for over a year, they offered a pay increase shortly after hire and no additional increase afterwards. They had poor management,  and incompetent payroll staff, I experienced multiple incorrect pays. I experienced sub-par training, favouritism  , burn out, and poor management. Overall I would not recommend this employer. I had a terrible experience working with this company, they also have a sister company named bridging family care, do NOT waste your time.
