Ok so working here is very fast paced and high stress if you can handle that good for you, the people you work with will become like family that is a big benefit, I have made some of my best friends while working here. 
But on the negative side it is an extremely toxic work place, there is favouritism like you wouldn’t believe and to add to that you get screamed and yelled at at least once a day working here. Employees in the dining room are severely under valued under appreciated and under paid for everything they deal with year round. The runners get berated every day in the kitchen and there are servers who have told me they are afraid to go into the kitchen because they do not want to get screamed at. 
Employees get served staff meals that really just consist of scraps and its always terrible 
They are rarely open to working around your schedule and if you have school or a second job they will not work around it. 
The HR department is extremely biased towards some employees and will even talk badly about some of them to other workers. 
Staff accommodations are almost unliveable with the way they are kept especially the house, the house is a major health and safety hazard. 
The turnover rate for employees here is so high they are always understaffed.
Long shifts and very tiresome work 
Overall if you want to make some lifelong friends work here but if you don’t want to deal with all the consequences of working here don’t bother applying

I would not recommend this job to anyone who values their time. You are required to work split shifts (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with each service taking between 2-3 hours. The guests can be quite snobby and rude (they are paying gobs of money to be there) and the kitchen often gets slow, because everyone comes to eat at once. The management is not always helpful or nice (if you get an extremely rude/mean table they will not let you switch with someone else) and staff often left their shift in tears. In your interview, they will likely tell you that you will get tipped well- this is NOT true, most days you will not get more than 5-10$. Your total days there will be about 15 hours (but you only work/get paid for 7-9hrs) However, on your breaks you are allowed to use the amenities (pool,etc) which is nice, however can be awkward to see guests/them to see you in your bathing suit. The other servers are generally pretty nice, and you make friends fast. Overall, you are better off getting a job elsewhere as it will likely make for a miserable summer and a lot of exhausting time at work.

As a server, your days can be fairly long but they are very rewarding! Unlike most restaurants, the staff have the ability to really get to know their guests as you stay with your set tables throughout the entirety of their stay (Your days off excluded). After working for many large corporate owned companies, I was sceptical to work for a family owned business, but I will never go back to corporate again. The owners and management are truly involved on a day-to-day basis and really get to know their staff (which become part of the Fern Family). Staff are encouraged to use all onsite facilities including water activities, high ropes, paint-balling and more so that we can give our guests genuine experiences of the resort. If you're looking for an active job, and many memories I whole heartedly recommend you apply for a position at Fern. 

working here was ok, but the hours are so incredibly long, and the pay was low, I only worked 8 hours a day but you end up spending about 12 hours at this job because it's done in sections, i dont know how to explain it properly but there's periods of time where there's nothing to do because you work breakfast lunch and dinner and there's periods in between where there is no food being served so you have to sit around and wait and it literally wasted my life. you get long breaks obviously but who wants to spend extra unpaid hours at work when you're only working for 8 hours, not 10, not 12. Basically don't work here unless you drive or you plan on living on site. I biked about 10km to get there and 10km to get back home, so that was terrible. But on the bright side, some of the customers were absolutely amazing and kind, gave nice tips, and honestly the lady who trained me was the sweetest lady ever and the resort is gorgeous, like something in the movies.

This job was literally to assist the waiters. I was given the table's order, I had the chefs assemble each salad or entre, I would assemble some desserts. I carried the table's order out to the dining room and left it at the designated station and then notified the waiter their food was ready, the waiter would then deliver the dish to the table. I also had to take the dirty dishes back to the kitchen and sort them for the dishwashers. Then once all the guests had left the dining room the waiters and assistants would clean the dining room and prepare for the next meal, sometimes we wouldn't get a break between the breakfast and lunches because it took so long to clean and prepare. The hours at this job were unstable, sometimes I'd work man long shifts in a week, and other times I would go a few weeks with no work. I didn't get to work with the guests, which would have made the job much better as I love customer service.

Super cliquey environment, with managers treating those they don't like super unfairly. You will never get thanked for your hard work no matter how much effort you put into it. The tips are good if you serve the same table for their whole stay, and for the most part the guests are super nice. Also nice to use the amenities in between shifts, but working split shifts everyday for stretches of time is unsustainable and you will quickly get burnt out (when you work all 3 shifts, which you typically do, you're essentially working from 730 am to 930 pm). You get food when you live in staff housing, but it's mediocre at best and you'll quickly get tired of it. Also, the staff housing is not well kept. I'd recommend it as a seasonal job only if you're looking to spend the entire time working, but be prepared to feel undervalued and under appreciated.

The best part of working for Fern Resort is the work environment you are within and the people you meet in the resort itself, along with the bonds you gain with some of your colleagues makes the whole job memorable and  enjoyable

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends on the season, but mostly not that busy, it feels warm and happy, and certainly enjoyable

This place is very sad! Every single day at work I felt unhappy. Desperately in need of renovations, some new management (some is good), better food, new staff lodging. The guests were generally in a good mood being on vacation, and they brighten your day, but that has nothing to do with the employer. It is very far from town so its hard to leave the "resort" if you don't have a car. Also, not really a town you would want to go to anyways (kind of scary) but still need something to do so it's better than nothing. Never ever ever did 80% of the management tell you when you were doing a good job, they only knew how to recognize the bad. They pay is absolute bare minimum wage. Shame!!!

Working at Fern Resort seems like a great opportunity until you're working there. They excite you up with all the fun activities you can partake in during your break, but when you're exhausted from working back to back days with split shifts, it doesn't improve the experience. The staff get overworked due to a staff shortage and paid minimum wage for this tough work. A lot of the team live on-site as a way to help manage the hard work and long breaks between shifts.

Great place to work, the pay could be better, but the other benefits, such as use of facilities, and meals prepared by skilled chef, more than make up for any shortcomings in salary. Excellent management team, and great employees make this an ideal place to work.  Very laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, and most jobs within the resort are very easy to learn and get used to. Don't expect to have any holidays to yourself, it's a resort, and that is their busiest time.
