Not sure where to begin. I worked there for six years so whatever I put here will not summarize my experiences. I worked hard, I never missed a day, I never took a sick day and I worked with some awful people. How you are promoted in there is known as "politics" or as I would say favoritism. There is no real meter for judging competence in this place. That’s bad news for anyone with a positive attitude who naively thinks if I just work hard and treat people with respect I will be appreciated. 

Temps are treated as sub human which really wasn't that much worse as to how I was treated. I was not evaluated fairly, was routinely blamed for things I did not do, when I was not there, when I was on break, all because the line leader was not willing to accept that his "buddies" or his chosen people would leave a mess behind, or mess things up. My only regret here was that I did not leave sooner, which I eventually did, I did eventually quit because I know my skill set and education. I am a smart person, I treat people with respect and I know most companies want people like me.

I will tell you one of many examples as to how I was treated under the line leader I worked with. One time I was instructed by him to operate a machine known as the E-80, while his protégé and second in command would watch the 750 pick and place, the machine I normally operated. 

However, he did not tell me this and instead told me to watch the 750 area, and his second in command would watch the e80. So here I am operating the 750 with the two of them watching me, and the line leader, who told me to watch this machine said "Its ok (insert my name)!!! He (insert his second in commands name), has got it!" and he said this with a very strong tone and being very condescending. This was to imply like only I could operate this machine, when in fact I was just going by what he told me, and I think he forgot that he told me to watch the 750, instead of the e80. I had done nothing wrong, and I was being blamed for his poor vision and his inability to read people. 

I saw way too much of that at Ferrero, people in positions they didn’t earn, and were terrible judges of character. 

This sort of experience would really define my time at Ferrero, doing my job, and line leaders and other operators trying to find things to say about me that were bad, or trying to undermine me in someway, when in fact they were in the wrong. Who knows what has become of this place, the same people are probably still there, being as hypocritical as always. I’m glad I left and I would tell anyone to steer clear of this place unless you can't find anything else.

A typical day at work is when you go in your are assigned the line your going to run and the amount of people you need and have to meet the required percentage of work that day.

I learned how to operate a line, work with a few machines, work with computers, how to sanitize and clean each line at the end of the week, direct and be in charge of 10-15 or more individuals at a time.

Clean and safe work environment, but unorganized at times

Lots of great people to work with but those odd individuals here and there that don't like to listen and make your time not as enjoyable.

The hardest part of the job is being in charge of so many employees at a time who don/t always want to listen and having to direct each person and show them how to do there job on the line and still have to run the line and do all your paperwork and ensure everything is correct. Also having people that don't always work well with each other. The rotating shifts are hard from 1 week days to afternoons to nights. I don't like that when you accept a contract its for a short period of time and you don't no if its going to be renewed or not. They can replace you at any time no matter how long you've been there.

The most enjoyable part of the job is learning new things everyday and meeting new people. When you get a contract the pay is great too.

Forced overtime on majority of its employees, especially in production. Expects everyone to work 6 to 7 days a week, and wants every employee to devote all their time to the company, instead of their family. They start everyone on contract, and tell them that within a year or two they will get full time; but in reality, it is all internal company politics, and they give full time to those they like, instead of those who deserve it. Some people have been contract for over 3 years, and then others get full time within 6 months. For a company that places alot of emphasis on pest control, they have a lot of rats and weasels. Everyone there will rat you out for something, and alot of 2 faced weasels, who will gladly stab you in the back if they think it will advance their career. Rotating shifts, with barely anytime to adjust from nights, to afternoons, to days. You get 20 minutes for a break, but don't take 21 minutes, because you will get written up by the team leaders and supervisors. Very clickey place to work, with alot of double standard. Different rules apply to different people. Overall, if you're stuck for work, it pays better then most factory jobs, but be prepared to deal with alot of BS and internal politics.

Worked at Ferrero for 3.5 years in rocher packaging - was on rotating 8 hour shifts, then straight nights, then rotating 12-hour shifts.

Straight nights was the best, we had a great crew (except team leaders). Had a great work-life balance. Everything hit the fan once we switched to rotating 12-hour shifts.

Used to be able to go to the gym, then the 12-hour shifts consumed my life. Was in so much pain 100% of the time I couldn’t even do anything on my off days. Team leaders put SO MUCH pressure to get quotas it was so unrealistic.

I worked my butt off to ensure we hit our quotas that when I was on the rotating and straight 8-hour shifts, my shift was the highest performers. When we switched to 12-hours, machines were breaking down more often and they had the audacity to hand me a performance plan (for those that don’t know, performance plans are when they’re thinking about letting you go for underperforming). Clearly my hard work and helping them get their bonuses was not good enough for them.

Got along great with my co-workers since we shared the same hatred for management, even met my boyfriend out of it - only thing I’m grateful for, thanks Ferrero!

Overall, lousy company to work for. Go find an 8-hour shift job that actually allows you to have a life outside of work.

Once I got my contract it was excellent knowing that I had guaranteed hours and wages that were satisfying to my financial needs.
Once trained it was quite simple to run the machinery and fix any issues that might present itself, as long as a great amount of attention was paid to the machine's operation. My job kept me very busy and it was nice to operate along side a partner everyday knowing they had your back while operating.
As for my duties as an operator I do not really have any complaints. The only thing that was sometimes difficult was when the machine was running perfectly, leaving me with little to watch out for or maintain. I found this difficult because than it was a mental battle of figuring out what to do to keep busy for 8 hours, and in a factory where talking is frowned upon there was little to occupy ones self with.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the feeling of satisfaction. I loved knowing that the job I was performing served as a vital part to overall production of the Rochers.

In my years of experience, I have never disliked a job more.

Cons: 
First, you can only give opinions to your direct manager. If that person doesn't like it, you do not have the opportunity to get your ideas out there. 

They do not encourage any innovation, or thinking outside the box. The strategy is determined globally, and they only like to do things as they have been done before. 

Marketing is an ever-changing field, and they will only commit to providing one training per year, per employee, which you have to find yourself with a very limited budget. They are not interested in employee development. (although they say they are)

The culture is SO OLD SCHOOL, and the amount of times that employees were patronized to was staggering.  

There is barely any communication and best practice sharing in different departments

It seemed to me that everyone in the Toronto head office disliked their job and waited until the clock struck 12.

None or very few  parts , always trying to improvise to make things work,no real safety there,no pm.  People that they make supervision are rude, ignorant and try to use yelling , intimidation,bullying  to get you to do on the moment unplanned jobs, too many quick fixes,+ patch jobs. The place doesn't have a electrical engineer so when they buy + install new equipment it's usually under sized  and you get stuck fixing up brand new equipment that you know nothing about since there's next to no training on any equipment. You get thrown into the fire real quick. When a electrician goes on vacation  your stuck taking care of a  big area of 4 floors of equipment.Not a good  learning experience for younger tradesmen. It pays good but your very busy trying to learn systems and do calls and then they try to give you on the fly jobs or fixes

What is the best part of working at the company?
I've been working for Ferrero for five years as a route sales merchandiser. They are an amazing company to work for. They care about their team. I'm 58 years old and it's a perfect fit for me in my life.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Traffic. But Christmas and Easter are very busy for us. But there is hardly any stress with my position 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fantastic. We are all treated like equals and there isn't anything I can think of that could make me say anything negative about my time here

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is no pressure for us to finish our calls it is pretty organized and my district manager makes my job very easy to do

Favoritism runs rampant through this company.  If you kiss up to the teamleads you get ahead. No real training on the job and you don't even get log in credentials for their computer system. Fast paced but some of the full time employees dump extra work on the contract workes to have a slower night. The shifts are all treated differently with no set standards. They are crazy stupid on the cell phone policy on some people amd others not so much. The equipment is dated and not maintained. Thw fact that they bus yes they actually bus in workes says alot. You are on contract for ever so they don't have to pay out benefits which is a joke. Place desperately needs a Union to step up and help out these workers.
