Ridiculously high standards for all employees, and constantly asking for more when they don’t even know what they are doing. The general store managers hire their friends and try to push other employees out of the company by cutting hours and demoralizing them. Management acts like they know everything but don’t listen to staff when regulations or rules are not followed properly. They actively defend the negative behaviour of other employees to help push people out of the company. If you don’t quit, they end up transferring you or firing you. Please be extremely cautious when accepting a position here as most managers seem so nice at first, but will actively try to break you down. I watched this happen to two people before it happened to me. You are not a “family” as much as they say that you are. There are no supports in place for when you feel abused by your manager or other staff, and some GMs make up things about you or your work ethic to make sure that no one believes you even if you do reach out to someone for help. One person got reprimanded for asking the GM for support with another employee and had their hours cut. It almost seems that the GMs try to bring you down emotionally on purpose. 

Working for Fika has been a truly life changing experience. Fika takes care of their employees unlike any other company I've ever worked for. The way Fika respects not only their employees but customers as well speaks volume about how amazing of a company it is. The implementation of Fika Days  (basically an added paid day off) every month, on top of the vacation policy in place is incredible. I always feel like I can trust my colleagues and my manager. Fika really goes above and beyond in terms of changing the industry and evolving the current market in cannabis retail. I was given great opportunities to work with this company and I cannot wait to grow tremendously as a professional to an even higher level!

I have never worked for a company as great as FIKA. Job work/life balanced is constantly encouraged (and supported with time off, including fika days!). The benefits program at FIKA is amazing (full coverage including health care & wellness spending accounts, therapy sessions, etc). There is a lot of transparency when it comes to performance reviews, check-ins, and career progression. The culture is easily my favorite thing about working here as all of my colleagues are really wonderful people, and overall it is very centered around feedback which I appreciate. Management is consistently open to listening, making changes, and cares about your experience as an employee. And I LOVE that I get to wear my converse to work!! 

Don’t work here if you want to feel miserable, and hopeless. The vibes are very fake, most of the people working here live for their job, there is no balance for your personal life. Management seems nice but they all fake, expect too much until in turns into exploitation. There was never a clear communication, and training for the expectations they have from workers. They will be soo good at calling you out, and writing up, even if you were never properly trained by them! Just unfair and toxic. 
Avoid at all costs, no job is worth your mental health and well being. Many nice custumers, but also a lot of creeps that will even harass you after work. I felt my soul drained before coming and leaving my shifts. They also hire a bunch of kids who will be easily tricked into overworking, and being exploited. Beware!! 

At Fika Oshawa, I've had nothing other than a fantastic experience. The culture and hands on approach, honesty and transparency we have with one another is something that resonates through our sales approach. Like with any retail job, you're dealing with customers but the grand majority of customers are happy to come in and talk with us. Management is very patient and gives you a ton of room to grow and develop your skills without the fear of walking on eggshells like the majority of cannabis careers out there. I'm proud to work with a team, and for management that genuinely cares about me.

I've worked in retail for a long time, and I feel so lucky to have been given this opportunity at Fika. The culture is so important to the Company and it shows. The people you work with are smart, caring, and fun to be around. The customers are so fun to help shop, and we get discounts!! I highly recommend working for Fika in any capacity, it's a growing Company so who knows where it will lead.

I have been working at Fika for almost a month and have experienced a workplace culture and environment I haven’t experienced at other companies. I’ve learned a lot about the cannabis industry in just a month from their employee training and coworkers knowledge. Management and employees both exemplify mindful and caring tactics when approaching customers and new employees. They truly embrace their motto of “taking a breather” and their goal of redefining the cannabis industry. Great place to work at and haven’t seen any company in the cannabis industry like it. 

Started out as a great place to work and a great company to work for, so I thought. Over the last while I’ve seen the company show their true face and absolutely drain the life and soul out of all the store level employees. Fika=Fake

No customers
Over priced everything
Discount was high but was still not that much of such a ridiculous price  
Very fake management
No job security 
They use you and then kick ya out 

I lasted less than 2 months before knowing this place wasn’t for me. Expectations are way more than “above and beyond” with over an hour of cleaning each night, constant merchandizing, and no matter how well you do there will always be something to be chastised about. Positive feedback is rare, but you better be positive on shift!
