A typical day at work at Five Star Building Services involves completing assigned cleaning tasks according to a clear schedule and maintaining company standards. Through my two years of experience, I have learned the importance of teamwork, time management, and professionalism in a diverse workplace. Management is supportive and well-organized, with supervisors demonstrating strong leadership qualities by being patient, approachable, and clear in their communication. The workplace culture is respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented, which creates a positive and motivating environment. The hardest part of the job is the physical nature of cleaning work and, at times, the language barrier, which can make communication slower. However, these challenges are handled with understanding and cooperation from the team. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with supportive supervisors, colleagues, and office staff who value teamwork and mutual respect. Feeling supported and appreciated makes the work rewarding and enjoyable, and it contributes to a positive overall experience.


I have been fortunate to work with Five Star Building Services within the last 7 months as a Concierge and the overall experience has been very good. I have worked in two buildings during this time and this has provided me with good exposure to various environments and modes of operation.
The team is highly accommodative, the leadership is accessible, responsive, and truly interested in staff success. Management offers proper training, communication and continuous support and makes the job less complicated and more satisfying.
The workplace atmosphere is professional, respectful and well structured. I value the focus on team collaboration, safety, and resident support, the possibility to develop and gain confidence in my position.

I learned the importance of consistency, teamwork, and attention to detail, as well as proper use of cleaning equipment and safety procedures. Management is approachable, and supportive, always willing to provide guidance when needed. The workplace culture is professional and respectful; with a strong sense of teamwork and mutual support. The most enjoyable part was taking pride in my work and seeing the positive impact a clean environment had on clients and staff.

I work as a cleaner at Five Star, and I feel very comfortable 😊. From the first day, I received everything I needed to do my job and proper training that made me feel confident. There is always someone available to answer my questions, and that makes me feel supported 🤝. I also appreciate that the company offers opportunities to young students, as it shows trust and support.

Every morning, I go to work with a positive attitude ☀️. I enjoy the building where I work and I love greeting people, smiling, and wishing them a good day. During this winter season ❄️, those small gestures make a big difference, especially for those of us who live alone. What is the best part of working at the company?
Working at an assigned building gives you consistent hours. Most buildings are transit accesible. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job is generally pretty low stress but sometimes supervisors and managers can bring unnecessary stress to the job. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s good unless you do something wrong or get on the bad side of supervisors or management. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive on time to assigned building, complete daily cleaning, answer emails and phone calls, assist strata manager or council with special request, manage resident move ins/out and amenity room bookings, walk around all areas of building to inspect for cleanliness and problems.

You are required to accomplish a daily cleaning regimen according to the contract that Five Star agreed upon with the Strata Plan. I also had to write daily reports to be compiled at the end of the month to be given to the Strata council. A strong aptitude and command for the english language is necessary to communicate decisively with Five Star, Strata Council and Building Maintenance workers that are either scheduled or need to be called in for emergencies. 

Make sure you see the work site before you sign anything at the office.

I've had the pleasure of working at Five Star for the past year as the General Manager, and it's been an incredibly rewarding experience. Our team is diverse, energetic, and engaging, creating a vibrant workplace atmosphere. We're growing quickly, and it's exciting to see so many opportunities for internal promotions and career advancement. Management gives staff lots of opportunity to provide useful feedback and innovate within the company.  CEO is always looking to optimize efficiency and productivity to assist in the growth of the company in new emerging markets.
