I have the pleasure of keeping the office professional whether it's a special occasion or welcoming a newcomer to Fowler along with continuously thinking ahead to meet the needs of others.
   I enjoy providing a high level of Customer Service to external Customers, Senior Management, and others within the organization.
   Being part of the Finance Team, part of my daily duties involves supporting our Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable colleagues. I am very happy in my existing role here at Fowler Construction; along with enjoying my day-to-day tasks, I can take on new challenges and adapt to any changes.  Having a supportive, and approachable boss is a plus to working here as well. 
 It’s also great to see employees here at Fowler get the opportunity to advance to more challenging positions within this Company, if one chooses to do so.  


What is the best part of working at the company?
Learning how to be a snow plough driver on major highways is a good experience you learn a lot how to plow, and the people men and women that work at Fowler plough drivers are very excellent people

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When I first joined Fowler in, I believe it was November the management was great in the beginning, but then became very stressful as they were very hard-nosed orderly people that made you feel small when they talk to you very stressful people they were and are

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is great the guys and the women are awesome that you meet there that are actual plough drivers. Yeah they’re very nice.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When it’s snowing out, it’s very busy fun exciting but when it’s not your cleaning shop floors, washing trucks all the time in any kind of weather whether it be freezing or not the equipment they have for washing trucks is not the best as it leaks all over you and you get wet from head to toe in the freezing cold weather that is not good

The dynamics of the work never bores me. Every day there are new challenges that demand a specific course of action associated with different critical thinking strategies, developing my character and confidence as a professional.
The management team is composed of kind people that treat you as a human being, not as a tool nor as a mere number. The workplace is healthy and friendly, plus the people I work with are very welcoming and prone to help their teammates and new hires. Communication, cooperation, and partnership are present in the daily routine of the company.
Work in construction can be stressful because tough obstacles may arise on the way, but I believe that those obstacles are not only forging a stronger me but are also improving the team`s performance as a whole. Additionally, when you see the results of your job materialized outside the drawings and how it has a positive impact on the society you live in, there is no better reward. 
At Fowler, I found a special team that I`m truly proud to work with and to be part of!

During my time at Fowler I have drove everything and or pulled every piece of equip that we had. When I started I was driving a tandem truck and continued on up to triaxle followed by the tanker, dump and live bottom trailers  and float for a number of years. I did everything from plowing snow to hauling asphalt to everything in between. Then I was asked to take over the dispatch which included the truck manager at that time. I did that for a number of years .Then was asked to look after the compliance end doing truck allowable weights ,permits and licensing . I have also sat on the health and  safety and rep group committee's. I also worked through fowler on the government trucking weights and measures for ontario aggregate trucks. The best part of my time here was when we did the jobs up north. Moving the oversize equipment. I don't really have a hardest part of anything I have done here. I have enjoyed the time I have spent at Fowler and Evan's.

Fowler Construction is a highway maintenance company, with a high turn around of staff. If you are internally connected with the management team, you have greater chance of obtaining a full time position for the time you are employed. Fowler hires generally for seasonal employment. Fowler is a contract company with the MTO, so if you obtain full time work, you will only have employment for the length of the contract. Layoffs and termination without cause could be expected. It is uncertain if you would be offered employment further to the Fowler contract ending with the MTO. Ask for how long Fowler has the contract during your interview.

Working at Fowler has been a transformative experience for me. It's the first place where I truly feel I can reach my full potential. The company encourages movement across departments, allowing me to gain valuable experience and skills in my chosen career.

I’m also proud to be part of a team that values diversity. At Fowler, there’s a strong representation of women in all departments. In fact, I’ve been on a construction crew where women made up the majority. This inclusive environment fosters collaboration and innovation, making it a fantastic place to work.

Company was great when I started early 2000's .They acted as and were genuinely a family company. As they got bigger and more spread out things slowly changed . Early "Sand Camps " in GTA were hard work ,tiring and challenging but due to regulations and accountability they got better with time off and treating employees better. Office staff were expected to do too many jobs in unrealistic timeline . Heaven forbid you go on WSIB or become disabled . The second they are able to you will be strategically dismissed or restructured to not include your job. Employee's on disability are never contacted and the second they are able to remove benefits they do .The pay is half decent for the area but constantly tell you how lucky you are to have a "well paying" job . I would stay away unless doing seasonal work instead of UI.

There wasn’t any best part.  Management is so unorganized and follows a favouritism pattern.  Very big on talking down to their employees.  Best decision I ever made was to leave my roll on the north bay contract

The environment was the most toxic due to tight cycle of friends.  If you weren’t part of that cycle you ended up with the short end of the stick 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and full of unwarranted harassment

A tedious, low paying job, with extremely long hours that is very hard on your body, mind and family.  You won’t see your wife and kids while they’re awake.  The company seldom reimburses it’s employees for the fuel utilized to reach the work area.  Getting paid for the amount of hours you actually worked is like pulling teeth because those hours are not accurately reflected in their records so every paycheck has to be thoroughly analyzed for discrepancies.  Nobody is happy.  Everybody yells.  And the public complains to us endlessly about the inconvenience.
