Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes

Worked at the first Calgary location. Owner was inexperienced and overworked staff, which caused high turnover during opening. Staff were instructed to take on multiple roles, and were paid a poor wage for the expectation from management (min. wage). Disorganized, and poor kitchen management - ie. eggs/dairy left out at room temp for hours. Unless this changes, I do not recommend working here.

The company management is terrible (the boss always says there's no money), roles are unclear, and they don't pay for overtime during business trips (if you choose monthly pay). Additionally, you're required to share a room with someone of a different gender, they delay paying wages, and only settle after leaving. They also don't provide vacation pay (even though it's promised in the contract), and you have to pay for your own groceries, which they take a long time to reimburse."

I had some kitchen experience in the past but working here was a unique experience in a positive way. We were trained to create these delicious fluffy pancakes that were actually complex to make. It was a fun place to work overall and the team was very easy to get along with. Would recommend

You get thoroughly trained here. I liked how we were cross trained to do multiple tasks so our days were dynamic. We also are allowed to be creative and encouraged to add our own creative touch to our work. On the weekends it was very busy.

Worked here for a little over a year, I’ve made some of my best friends while working here. It was fulfilling in the sense that we felt that we were creating art and had a lot of fun while doing it. Management was very accommodating and easy to work with. 

Work hours was 8 hours per shift, paid 30 minute lunch break, unpaid 15 minute break. Mangers/owners were unhelpful and employees and managers were disrespectful and unprofessional.

I sadly had to leave my job here due to personal medical issues. My managers were extremely understanding when I told them what was going on and I still go back to visit when I can because I miss the atmosphere and staff.

Team is small. Top management is problematic with a lot of internal arguments and disrespectful behaviors to the employees. They should learn how to communicate well with people, and how to retain experienced staff in the company.

Working here has been the best. I've learned a lot of skills that I can use in the future, like time management. The shifts go by really quickly when it's busy, which is a huge plus. The tips help as well.
