Worked in production. Business has been in a downward spiral ever since production management changed. High turnover rate. Experienced senior staff leaving in droves the last couple years, often being replaced by 2-3 people with little experience, and inadequate training leading to more issues. The amount of bounced back emails while trying to communicate within the company is embarrassing because so many people have left. Management is often out of touch and left responding to problems rather than preventing them. Production staff are always expected to save the company after procurement or engineering issues. Multiple employees often asked to come in on Saturdays after already working a 50 hour work week. Many believe management has actively been hiring new immigrants and quiet personalities so they won’t stand up for themselves or question management decisions. The entire culture of the company is slowly shifting itself to “YES” men where every department just tells their superiors what they want to hear, whether it’s true or not or even realistically feasible. Eventually the people with any authority and power to make real changes are completely unaware of what’s actually happening at best, or dismissive at worst. Each department has massive long standing issues that put production output at risk that continue to go unaddressed. Yearly pay raises of 1-3% despite inflation being 6-8%. Raises are already budgeted before your yearly reviews so they are essentially pointless. Supervisors are left in the dark regarding salary so they can’t even advocate for their team members. Team leads surprised with new hires the day before their arrival with no input in the hiring process, then responsible for firing them when they are unfit for the job. HR will try to seduce you with the profit sharing bonus but it’s been declining rapidly year over year on average for the last 5years despite production output numbers increasing in the majority of lines. Your bonus is also an ongoing mystery with a complete lack of transparency decided by someone that sees you maybe twice a month when they are grabbing a coffee in the break room. It doesn’t matter if you work 60 hour weeks or 37.5 hour weeks- there is no incentive or reward for your ambition. 

I am happy and satisfied with this work experience. There are always new things to learn, new departments to experience and explore. Everyone work in a fast-paced environment, and have a positive work attitude. My work colleague like to think when they do work, not only follow the instructions provided. this company always thinking about how to benefits others, and whether there is a better way of doing things.  I got the chance to sort old inventory data and discard obsolete information. I have learned how to calculate the optimal amount of inventory, how to predict the best ordering price and quantities from suppliers. It shows me more fields in my study area and gives me more ideas about supply chain management. 
All the work I did related to the company’s growth, which is very exciting. I feel more motivated working here because I know the value of the work I did.

The only good thing about this job is free lunch during Christmas and the bonus you get in December. The salary is good for the area but at the cost of your mental health. Extremely toxic work place with terrible management. Management gets reported often yet the upper management never seem to care about that. The first year you'll learn a lot but don't expect to grow there. They operate with the mentality that you will work for them until you basically come to your senses. You're instructed to not communicate with anyone outside of the building including HR if you have an issue with management.

Gastops has been an excellent employer providing its employees with a challenge rich environment and ample opportunity to grow professionally.  Being a SME each employee is given significant responsibility and experience - working on some of the most cutting edge technologies and exciting new industry solutions.  I recommend not putting much weight to the two previous reviews since those employees were not great fits with the company - which is therefore reflected in their reviews.  I highly recommend applying to Gastops!

Avoid the Aerospace side for assembly positions. The supervisor is rude, very immature and unprofessional. My overall impression of the company is that they have a difficult time finding assemblers to work there. They need to replace some of the senior staff and focus on proper training for  new hires. Some of the senior staff on the assembly side only are very bitter about the company, and it creates a toxic environment for those who have to work in close proximity. 

Although it's a private workplace, they try their best to make it feel like a government work environment with amazing benefits and plenty of social activities to keep morale high.

Ottawa office seemed very put together and well organized. Smaller branch suffered from poor management. Ambitious/driven people are discouraged to do only what they’re told. Out of date lab equipment. All in all a nice place to learn but wouldn’t stay too long. 

The company's priorities are 100% on the bottom line. Any questioning of procedure or techniques is met with indifference. When concerns over production are raised they are met with anything from naive optimism to rude hostility.  Either way, nothing ever changes.

As a production staff, I learned a lot during my time at Gastops. Company provides ample oppurtunities for colleagues to get to know each other by organizing various events. Provides flexibility and thus, good work life balance.

I had a great time working there for 16 months. Everyone there is very kind and the company itself is very professional and flexible. Would recommend to friends as a good company.
