Work is easy but the work environment is not good. Air quality is very poor. 

Very dirty environment. Machines are not maintained properly. Coolant leaking all over the place. 

No training for the new hires, as it seems like the full time employees do not have the drive to train anyone new. So you end up frustrated and not learning properly. 

Also get blamed when parts are made bad even know you don’t know how to run the machine properly. 

Set up people always blaming the material or workers instead of fixing the problems. 

No support from management when I brought up the lack of training and my frustrations with it. Just excuses as to why it is that way. 

Work is pretty easy and I did like working 36 hours and getting paid for 40hrs on the weekend shift. But got tired of the lack of training. 

Wages are not great. But not horrible either. Seen worse. And the free coffee was a nice bonus. 

It is too bad because if they fixed the training and supported new hires this place wouldn’t be a bad place to work. 

I worked at GMI for 3 years as an operator and i wish I didn't have to leave. The best part was definitely the short work weeks, only working 3 days (36hrs) and getting paid for 40 was great by me. It also makes a difference working with good people, although you will be pretty busy during your shift, the day doesn't drag by when you have friends at work. When I started I knew nothing about working in a factory but I was able to work alongside some pretty experienced ppl until I was comfortable on my own. Once i was comfortable i was operating 2-3 machines on my own and some experience to add to my resume. Unfortunately I no longer had transportation so i had to move on, but if i had the opportunity I would definitely go back.

Management very two faced...promises will be made and broken...need everything in writing to prove your right when accused of being wrong. Pays are constantly incorrect and employee is made to wait...does not provide proper tools for job...you will get a story along the lines of we are working on it but nothing every gets addressed. Does not take safety concerns seriously and ignores them until somthing serious happens...has no regard for e.s.a minimum standards and does not respect employees unless you are related or dating an owner. Does not value the individual...

- morning shift employees think they are supervisors
- afternoon shift employees are 2 faced and will try to screw you over for theyre advantage
- afternoon supervisor you cant trust because hes highly into favortism, his moods are all over the place, hes ok one min then the next min hes a jerk to you, doesnt trust younger employees for no reason
- the company underpays the workers for CNC and they always give excuses for not giving raises and bonuses because the family that own it are very greedy, all the people in the office are all family members and they fired all the people that are not family

The job was easy, and fellow employees were amazing. Management is terrible, they make empty promises to get everything they out of you and never follow through. Please work here if you're a fan of getting fired without any cause, even if you're proven to be an excellent asset. Also, don't get injured here, they'll treat you very poorly for raising their wsib premiums. If you want job security, don't work here because it doesn't exist, unless you're a rat or a brown noser.

A typical day at G.M.I. for me was a steady yet busy day of...machining parts on 3 to 4 c.n.c machines, checking quality of parts and making adjustments when neccesary, worked with a lot of diverse individuals, was never boring.  The hardest part of the job for me was trying to figure out all the different blue prints for each new part.   What enjoyed the most was doing the best job i could, in the time I was given.

Worked with employees from the company. Interacted with Suppliers and Customers.
Fast pace working environment. Must be flexible to work different jobs at different levels.
I enjoyed working with people and learning new process.
I learned how to read all types of blueprints for different size parts.

Do not ever work for this company they are about to go under and trying to get rid of people without paying them,they will use and manipulate you into their stupid little games and half the parts that are made are scrap and undersized and they pass them off as quality products they let coolant leak into the environment absolutely disgusting place

Enjoyed working here, although there were some aspects that needed to be worked on such as training and follow up. The management team is very cliquey and can make for a stressful environment when they don't all agree. The work can be a bit demanding but the hours are good and the pay is decent.

Friendly environment, coworkers very helpful and management is easy to talk to. The owner is involved in his company and will remember who you are. Flexible overtime is also available if you would like to work it.
