Shifts are primarily in the evening. Stocking/restocking product. Assisting customers and ensuring they have an excellent customer experience. An easy point of sale system makes the job easy. Opportunity for personal breaks between customers. If there long enough,  opportunity for advancement is there. Good management and good staff makes for an efficient and effective team. Hardest part of the job is getting used to the point of sale system. Most enjoyable part of the job is working in a good team environment  and customer interaction.  It is a liquor store and at times , dealing with  customers can be trying but this is not the norm. Management provides good training on how to deal with situations. Avenues of personal safety in place.

They give you one week of training out of their head office and expect you to know everything when you leave. They have no rhyme or reason for who to go to when a manager needs help as there are no regional managers. The head office staff are short and snotty on the phone when you do call to ask for direction or help. No raises are allowed for your staff team members as head office has said they already make to muchThey manually adjust clock in and out times so if a staff member clocks in a few minutes early because it is busy they are not getting paid for it which is against labor laws

If you work here, you spend much of your day stocking shelves and assisting customers. It's an easy and really awesome job if you have the right co-workers! One of the things I didn't enjoy is that I was often the only person in the liquor store so I didn't get a break to eat during my shift.

Also a guy once threatened me with a weapon which is why I quit. I don't think it's safe to have one person working with liquor at 12 - 1 am depending on the day of your shift. 



I bent over backwards for this company throughout my 3 years with them, and as much as I loved my store manager, I will never work for this company again. They won't pay you anything more than minimum wage as a sales associate, sales associates don't get any kind of benefits program; only managers do. To this company, you're just a body to fill the empty role until they find the next person with so much hope and potential, just to destroy those hopes and dreams. 

I have worked for the Great Canadian Liquorstore before at the Fort McMurray Location. I love working with the easy going people and the awesome hours. I have grown to enjoy restocking the store and learning about different types of alcohol and wine. Having experence at the liquorstore makes buy drinks for my friends and myself more fun because i now know more about the alcohol it's self.

This company only cares about making money. As a former manager I did all I could for my staff but only so much I can do. Correct they did not give raises until 2023 to staff, managers got them every year. They will rather just get new staff instead of treating the hard working ones better. I worked my butt off for this company to just get treated like I was nothing to them. 

I’ve been here 5 years and while it’s not a hard job, it is physically demanding most of the time. 
It’s mandatory to work weekends and your not allowed any time off around Christmas/New Years. 
In 5 years, I’ve never got a raise. My pay only changed when minimum wage went up. The “associate incentives” suck and they make it impossible to get them. 

Once it was a great place to work; fun and challenging. Then they started getting bad managers and now its the worst it will be. Not only do they expect a lot for min wage and min hours but they don't appreciate their employees either; unless you went to school with HR anyway.

I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Was great for the job and what you did. Easy and honestly it's a min wage job. You won't see a raise(from what I was informed by many). They don't let you know why or when your shifts change. You should check every day on the site. It was lovely to work for them besides the poor communication about scheduling.

Fantastic manager and great customers and a very stressfree environment. The wage is absolutely unfair and no recognition for employees through corporate office. This is a job that will never make you a living and there is no room for advancement.
