A typical day would be from 3pm-9pm. Commencing with a staff briefing and discussion, which would include updates on campaigns, guest speaker and division of turf. As this was a location based job, every day we were working at a different location, or turf,. After this we would divide into teams and begin canvassing. I worked as part of the door team, therefore I was much like a door to door sales person, informing public about the work of Greenpeace so as to encourage them to support our work by becoming monthly members.

I have learnt so much from this job, not only about the history of Greenpeace, but I haven learnt how to communicate successfully with people from all walks of life. This job has improved both my patience and understanding of people, it has also made my skin a lot thicker so to speak, a large part of my job was rejections. I believe I have also learned how to handle critic and rejection , which is what I feel to be the most valuable lesson to have learnt.

Management were very effective and efficient , but also very human, you didn't just feel like a number, you were made to feel like a valued employee, which of course made the working environment far more positive and successful overall.

My co-workers were extremely hard working, knowledgeable and helpful.

The hardest part of the job was the rejection and critic, as well as the unsociable hours, but all of these factors have made me a better person and employee.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with like minded people, working towards a common goal and for a cause that I was personally engaged in. The variety of my job, the location , the people, it definitely kept me on my toes at all times and never allowed me to become complacent or to slack off, which is extremely fulfilling.

As a Senior City Coordinator, half of the week is sitting at a desk doing strategic planning for the weeks, months going forward. Regarding but not limited to recruitment, hiring, training, administration, leader development, budgeting, ordering resources and keeping the office clean. 
I've learned that not many people can do this job, but the ones that can get creative and make it their own. It takes a lot of patience, persistence and positivism. 
The culture of Greenpeace is most definitely the best work culture I've ever experienced in my 20 years of working for multiple companies/organizations. Lots of support and everyone treats each other like family. 
The hardest part of the job is getting through some of the rough days, being it canvassing and everyone you're interacting with is telling you no. Or needing to let go of employees that you know are very good at the job but unfortunately have a rough few weeks or month. 
The best part of the job are when we hit the huge victories and knowing that you were a integral part of that. Like stopping Shell Oil from drilling in the Arctic, or getting KFC to stop sourcing paper products from the Indonesian Rain Forest.

A typical day at work looks a little something like this: get up, get inspired and get ready for an eventful day. To succeed at this job you need positivity, passion, patience, and resilience. To thrive here you must have the ability to manage yourself and also take feedback from all angles. Keeping your skills fresh and making sure not to allow yourself to burn out is the magic balance at Greenpeace. Ask for what you need and hold yourself accountable. We have a team culture here so if we want to win the game we all have to come together and keep our activism muscles warmed up through skill sharing and advanced trainings. The hardest part of the job is rejection kid. Accept it and allow it to strengthen you. The best part of he job is the confidence you gain along the way, the family of activist you cultivate during your journey, and the faces of those inspired to take action with you. People power wins and you get to build that foundation for people from all different backgrounds and walks of life.

My experience with Green Peace was absolutely amazing. I have still yet to meet a more friendly, devoted group of individuals. Team meetings before we went out each day, as well as getting supper together as well gave the whole staff a sense of family, it really was wonderful!

I learned a lot about my personal capabilities and dealing with cold (I worked over the winter months outdoors), and how to take consistent rejection with a smile. Rallying support for an amazing cause and having the door slammed in your face is disheartening, but I quickly learned not to stand down, and really push for people to hear me out about the issues effecting them!

The only downside was the weather- please source these folks out if you're looking for an awesome street-team or door-to-door marketing gig!

Greenpeace provides all walks of life the opportunity to inspire the community around you to take a stand against corporations who find value in profiting off of destroying the planet and all living creatures on it. My brief 5 and a half years with Greenpeace have taught me to remain inspired and resilient during imperative times. Management is and always will be incredibly supportive. We build a culture of receiving and giving supportive feedback. We also create a very diverse, inclusive, and equitable culture for all individuals. The hardest part of the job would probably be learning the ability to deal with quite a bit of rejection but that comes with time and teaches you life skills. The best part of the job is being part of a movement that is actively challenging the systems of power that oppress the plant and its inhabitants.

Working at Greenpeace Canada was extremely interesting and rewarding emotionally. I created the most successful podcast in all the GP offices while I was there. But Greenpeace is an advocacy organization with civil disobedience as its cornerstone to effect change and that makes it difficult for to promote collaborative communications strategies.

Management tends to be outgoing and reasonably chill. Canvassing is tough but it’s also kind of fun, especially when you know and care about the issues. You work with and meet new people who also care and want to help. Job security depends on meeting quota which can be stressful but if you’re good, the pay & benefits are good. Schedule can change at the last minute so it helps if you’re flexible.

I worked here some time ago but I loved it. Was fun to meet people all day, walk through pretty neighborhoods, and have an excuse to talk to people about climate concerns and environmental activism (stuff I was already interested in).

Every day I get to work in a new environment with different people and talk to the community about how we can make a difference in the world and be the opposition to corporations that destroy our plant like business as usual. I inspire people every day.

Missions are very much interesting, but poor management does not help.
Many workers there are not sufficiently involve in their missions, or are insufficiently qualified, which ruins the reputation of the organization.
