this is one of the worst places to work; it's a family run business and while those are wonderful, none of the family members are qualified to run a business. they care more about appearance than they do taking care of their employees, sanitation, and safety. they never bother to fix leaks, they yell at their workers, and they don't like to spend money on anything so everyone is always working more hours than legally recommended, and any time you request a day off you're threatened and berated into coming anyways, even if it's a medical emergency. even though they give you booklets on workplace safety and how to properly treat employees, the managers are abusive and mistreat employees with mental health issues. in the last week that i worked here, people got fired for taking time to rest (all of us being constantly overworked as fulltime employees, working 6 days a week from 9-12 hours), people got yelled at for making appropriate decisions in order to get through busy lunch rushes, and people got sent home for taking breaks when then managers failed to give breaks after a good 6-7 hours non stop working. even after someone broke their wrist, that still wasn't reason enough to get leaky kitchen facilities fixed. i would suggest looking elsewhere if you want to be treated as a human being in your workplace. unsafe, abusive, unsanitary, and unqualified. not to mention there is no training program, and the managers/supervisors are barely qualified for their line of work. coppa's isn't worth it, and never will be.

A typical work day was nine hours long. I learned many different skills while i was employed there, including cooking different kinds of food, using the cash, closing the department, cleaning, filling out paperwork and ordering supplies.
My co-workers were all very friendly and easy to work with. They all were very motivated and always did the best job they could. No one was lazy.
The hardest part of the job was dumping the used oil into the bins outside of the store. The buckets with the oil in them were extremely heavy.
The job was enjoyable because I got to work with really nice people who I become friends with both at work and outside of work.

If you don't like going home smelling like grease or being judged based on your sexuality, I wouldn't recommend this job. It's always hot and you aren't allowed to have water with you. Health and safety practices were not always followed. Staff are rude. Manager was passive aggressive and favored some coworkers above others. Would treat LGBT+ staff poorly and expect you to do tasks that are unsafe. Stock room was almost always dangerously unorganized.

Loblaws was a great place to work many years ago but times have changed and now its not about family but the God almighty dollar.  I made great friends and learned a lot from working there.  It is very hard to go fulltime

I quite enjoyed working in HMR, it felt like a family. I'd say it was a learning experience in life that I'd soon not forget as the people I worked with made the job worth doing.

The management was lazy and rude. As well as hours were all over the place. Cleanliness was at a minimum as well as organization. The staff was not very kind and acted inconvenienced towards having to serve customers.

Busy, fast paced work with attention given to serve guests in a friendly, timely manner. Learned many new skills and knowledge regarding the workplace.

While the job did have some good moments, overall, it is highly stressful with an excess of work with no allotted hours to complete it. The pay rate does not reflect the work that is expected

My co-workers are amazing. The benefits are fantastic. The overall feeling when you go to work is an amazing experience.
