I am writing this review as I enter the 4th month as a Front desk employee at Homewood Suites. I've worked all three of the shifts: AM, PM and Night audit and all of them come with their own pros and cons. Out of those 3, the AM gets most busy and requires you to perform more tasks. Overall, majority of work hours include engaging with the guests, taking calls for inquiries/reservations, passing on messages/tasks to various departments and problem solving. You get to meet new people and come across new problems/tasks every day so the work doesn't get too repetitive or boring. The customers/guests are pretty laid back most of the times but like every customer service job you always have bad apples that could ruin your day. The management is alright, helpful and not too condescending. The co-workers are gems though, easy to communicate with and probably the best part of the job. However, oddly enough, they don't compensate you for working overtime here. And for that reason, they are very vocal about discouraging workers to exceed assigned hours. This turns difficult when you have to take certain days off and have co-workers who are willing to take the shifts. 

I worked at the Homewood Suites in London for about a year and loved the people and overall atmosphere. I was nominated for top Hotel Front Desk Agent in all of London and I am very happy and proud about this accomplishment. I may not have came first but I am honored to have even made it into the running.  If I am going to be honest I will have to add the pay is NOT the greatest, for the amount of work and things you deal with on a daily basis (which is not all bad) you should be making more than minimum wage, I was a front desk agent and doubled as a dinner server and cook before returning to the desk to finish my shift. Don't get me wrong I loved my job and chose to do the extra work it would have just been nice to be rewarded for it in the slightest.

Awful workplace culture. Nice people but can be toxic. Everything was fine at first but turned ugly pretty fast. Even the people who work there feel this way as conflicts can be easy to come by. 

Learned a lot as they have newcomers work in different departments. But be aware, the more you know the more they use you…sometimes they throw you in the deep end without training. Some workers would be hesitant to learn new things so they wouldn’t get called on for extra work as they were already swamped. 

If you need hours work here but pay isn’t great. You can work multiple 6 day weeks as a part timer since they can be short staffed. They don’t pay overtime…you have to make sure it’s approved by the manager but most of the time it’s not in the budget. It’s odd since you can work extra days but can’t stay late if needed on a shorter work week? 

They give you food and you may get small tips as a housekeeper which is a plus! Don’t count on the tips though, I would be lucky if I got one in a week (I was told with Covid the tips became a sort of rarity).  

Currently working as a Room Attendant at Homewood Suites by Hilton Burlington is generally busy it is a fast paced workplace. We get between 12-21 rooms to do a day depending on the staffing. I never imagined working in a hotel and how much they have to clean when someone lives or check outs of the hotel room. Management here is alright, personally I believe that they need to improve on their management. The workplace culture is evened, the only problem I have is that if your a different nationality you shouldn't be speaking it around someone else whom doesn't speak it. (usually was the management speaking another language right in front of their employee) The hardest part of the job was keeping up on making sure that all the rooms on your list were completed by the end of your shift. Enjoyable part of the job would be meeting new people from all over the world visiting Ontario.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Supportive manager, plenty of perks (such as a receiving a huge discount when booking a hotel room and lots of morale building exercises with the company), and an overall positive work environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The minimum wage pay scale.
In housekeeping, you are prone to pick up germs.
You have to have good time management to get your work done on time. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a supportive, flexible and positive work environment. An enjoyable place to work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up at 8:30, (9 on weekends), sign in, brief team meeting, receive assignment, prepare work supplies and get to work. Often, if you finish early, you are asked to help your colleagues, and sometimes get to leave early.

- I’ve never worked in such a negative work environment.
-I was part time but given full time hours with no benefits.
Very stressful when you have more than 9 rooms to clean because they make you stay to finish everything, and if you’re finish you have to stay 1 or 2 hours after to help other house keepers finish their rooms making it a 10 hour day. 
-It would be nice if Hilton paid by every room you clean, but it’s only hourly and you need to finish cleaning 1 room in 35- 40 minutes. They’re very cheap like that, so that’s why a lot of the housekeepers take their time. 
- Every morning i would come in, someone has called in and no one is ever in a good mood. People are very negative because they end up hating their jobs cuz management doesn’t know how to run a hotel smoothly. 
- they over work everyone and they don’t appreciate your hard work, they just take advantage of you. 

Interview process was amazing. First couple of weeks were fantastic! It seemed like the perfect team atmosphere. Management's and employee's true colours came eventually came through. 

Job itself is fantastic, straight forward and employee will feel real satisfaction after completing each room. 

There is undeniable favouritism and prejudice towards anyone who's first language is not Spanish. There is zero discretion regarding personal/medical information. Management participates with employees in the rumour mill and initiate it at times. 

I would never recommend working at the Waterloo/St. Jacob's location. 

I enjoyed my employment as a Sales Manager at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Oakville location. Hilton provided a lot of support and wonderful onboarding training! It is perhaps the most supportive company I have ever been employed at and the team members and GM are all excellent! The team is very close, and you have all the support needed. I would highly recommend working here. The only downside honestly is one that just comes along with hospitality in general. Sometimes you have to work different hours outside of standard business ones however if you finish later, they allow you to start later which is wonderful so you're not racking up too much overtime! 5 out of 5 stars!

A typical day at work involves, interaction with guests, receiving phone call inquiries, requests, complaints, processing billing. Management gives the guest service agents the opportunity to make decisions they feel are necessary when problem solving. My shifts will vary between; morning, mid shifts, evening and Night Audit. Night Audit shifts involve processing and balance hotel accounts. Co-workers and management respect one another. Management has great employee morale; Staff Bbq's, Christmas Party. We are all much like one big family. The most enjoyable part of the job would be meeting great new people everyday.

As i mentioned above, I was the night Auditor at Hilton's property which is near the airport. One day it was very windy and because of that all the flights got delay, so there was a sudden rush at the hotel and apparently the hotel was all most full, so instead of allocating rooms or saying no to the guest, which may give an negative impact about the brand and thinking about the goodwill of the Hotel, I decided to send them or to accommodate there stay with some other hotels nearby, because that can help my property to maintain my goodwill among the guest by arranging them a place to live, though our rooms are full, as well as it helps the hotel to maintain the relationship with other properties.
