A typical day at work for me as a hostess consisted of seating families/larger parties, taking/packing to-go orders as well as multiple different cleaning duties and assisting servers if needed. From this job I learned how to approach and handle many different situations within the work force and different types of people, I found myself gaining more patience with people and learning about customers/regulars in short amounts of time to make the experience as homelike as possible. The workplace culture is very good but like everywhere does get stressful at certain points being that you are with a large group of girls with different personalities who handle things in many different ways. I think that the hardest part of the job was dealing with the stigma that comes with working there and the assumptions that people make, as well as things that people may say to you while working although if you are found uncomfortable you can alert your managers right away and they will remove you as well as the other person from the situation. The most enjoyable part of the job is probably that you really do have the potential to make many friends that will become not only workplace friends but out of work friends.

Working for this restaurant you get alot of flack but its how you represent yourself on a day to day basis. I became a trainer in only 3 months and quickly after that a corporate trainer. I worked long hours hours, about 15 hour days but it was all worth it at the end of the day. My management was very supportive and tried to help out the girls anyway they could. The hardest part of my job was dealing with certain customers but you get through it. I loved working with all different kinds of girls and meeting new people everyday! I learned to never judge a book by its cover.

at work you would never feel heard and no body cares about anything they just want you to look busy not actually be productive.
managers are very selfish and unorganized and they will blame you for what they have done wrong and they don't take any responsibility for the mistake they make also if you don't do something for yourself to learn how the job works nobody wants to teach you anything.
in another word if you got in keep your head down try to act like you are stupid and you don't care you pass the test. 

Not the worst job I've ever worked, but far from the best. Standard line cook position, pay is ok to start, when it's busy it's a nightmare and understaffing was a real problem. The job itself is ok and not too complicated but my biggest problem was with management. A severe lack of training and support and they liked to update the schedule on a daily basis changing YOUR shifts and sometimes adding a shift the day of without notice. Then they'd call you asking where you are when you don't show up... Pretty scummy.

Absolutely horrible management, they are rude and disrespectful to you then expect you to apologize when you stand up for yourself. Certain supervisors are on a clear power trip and it's honestly just funny. In addition the company is very resistant to change, for example there are like 20 different sauces that they refuse to label and expect you to just know. Another thing to mention is they don't let the cooks have music whatsoever. If you have any self respect don't work here.

Misogynistic and homophobic, could never really relax

No longer work there but would arrive home exhausted and frustrated and angry

Over three years of work as a Hootergirl in Edmonton, Alberta left me with fond, fabulous memories. Hooters offered great opportunities & lots of employee incentives.
Management was professional and understanding; always willing to offer flexibility in scheduling while many of my other coworkers became lifelong friends.
Hooters training program that was excellent in hospitality industry standards. Everyday really was a holiday at Hooters!

Working as a cook is very easy. Management is lazy. Some of the managers are terrible leaders. They always play favorites. They'll treat whoever they dislike poorly and will always give you more work to do. They do not know how to hire line cooks or servers. New employees every couple months. Lot's of equipment not working either. As well as a mice problem... Free meals and lots of hours though.

left due to extreme verbal abuse from a few of the male line cooks. I could deal with the customers and the girls were good it was the management protecting the bullies that causes myself and probably 5 others to quit. Sadly miss the girls but don't miss the name calling from the one cook.

awesome fun exciting place to work full of energy i learned tons about customer service and the paying customer  i learned to run food cook the food  busing tables  my co workers were all part of our team we were a team all working towards the goal of customer satisfaction
