I worked here for a few months and that was all I needed to see this place was poorly managed. Office staff are very unhelpful and would rather be day drinking or golfing instead of supporting their onsite staff. The site supervisor I was sent off with should NEVER have been a supervisor. There was zero organization and zero experience. The lack of experience showed when we would run out of material every week preventing us from completing a job each week. Once the project fell behind due to poor management they point fingers at everyone but themselves and no one steps up to fix the problem. Journeyman beware! You will be stuck with terrible hires from the office and if you cant complete your job due to inexperienced help and lack of material to complete the job you will be let go without any warning. The wages are good but you will be expected to travel which they only pay one way for ( 4 + hours unpaid every week ) and there are no COVID restrictions put in place at all. You will be over stuffed in the work trucks and in cheap hotel rooms. If none of this has scared you away they have stacked HR positions with family members so you wont get a fair shot. This company was terrible to work for. Take my word and look elsewhere. 

The management is incredibly immature, lacking both the professionalism and leadership skills needed to guide a team effectively. Decisions are made impulsively without any long-term strategy, and there’s a serious lack of accountability at all levels.  Communication is non-existent, and the company seems to be stumbling from one crisis to the next without any clear vision for improvement.  They continue to spiral as the management makes choices that only push it further into the ground.
If you're considering working here I would strongly advise against it unless you want to be part of a sinking ship. The lack of direction, poor decision-making, and immature attitudes from management make it an incredibly toxic environment, and it’s only a matter of time before it all falls apart.

Never knowing when exactly they were going to fire you without providing the reason because they don’t have any.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Felt like a boy band scene, if you weren't good enough to be in the band, no one would talk to you

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Coring, non stop working, getting looks constantly if you were not moving.

Cons: management don't even know how many people are working so they can provide individual bed to each. Made their apprentice to sleep on cough and one time in cheap motel with bed bug.


Worst place I have ever worked (15 years in the industry)  wages were highest in the city, but expectations to work unsafely if it would cut time at a job were clearly stated.  Had a foreman threaten me with physical violence, in front of witnesses...and company response was to ignore complaint because of foreman''s friendship with management.  Lying supervisors and sub-quality work was the norm. Would honestly change careers and go apprentice in another trade before working for them again.

In my time working at Humboldt we were being sent to the North Battleford hospital for a new building. We were expected to be in the shop every day at 05:00, home around 19:30, and we were only paid for 11.25 hours out of the 14.5. We didn't know what we were doing out there until we got out there. The management was terrible, the days were long, and nobody seemed to care about you. We worked about 9 months there and I don't think anybody got their blue cross card. I know I didn't. I'm still waiting on my 6A form.

Been with this company several years now and have been nothing but fair and decent towards me seen allot of people come and go over the years mainly to lack of self drive effort and or lazy individuals, with a sense of entitlement like the company owed them something.. humboldt holds high standards of there employees as they should!

You will become a well rounded electrician and experienced in many areas of the field is you apply yourself but not a free ride

Humboldt Electric has been an awesome company to work for. I have worked along side a lot of great Journeyman to help develop my technical skills in the trade. The staff has grown and added a ton of great people and I love the team that I work with.
Humboldt has good wages and benefits as well as tons of additional perks and great team building events.


Big contracts, and lots of work.  Well managed, family based company.  As electricians themselves, they fully understand what is needed to support their employees through the apprenticeship program.  As a family started and operated business, they also understand the need to balance work and home life.

They will lay you off on a moments notice but they are usually pretty good at keeping you busy. Worst downfall of this company is the management and cliquiness of thier management. The management made me dread going to work some days and keeping your head down is harder than it sounds. Safety also isn't a priority here.

Humboldt Electric is an enjoyable place to work.  You are able to work your way up if you desire, good senior leadership in the field and office.  Benefits are good, lots of different types of jobs, so you can learn a lot working there.
