Salary is above average. Benefits are decent. Company events from time to time. Work life balance is maintained by managers.

Outside of benefits and salary, this is a horrible company. The company slogan of "Committed to Excellence" is more of a punchline when it comes to the IT department managers. It started out well enough - I was sold a company who would build my skills and give me a future. That turned out to be a snake oil promise. For starters, there are a lot of frustrating inefficiencies in the policies and procedures of the company. Adding printers is ridiculous - the user base can't do it themselves because it's locked down to admin credentials. When you get in touch with a user to help them add a printer, it's a total gong show. You have do it 1 of 5 different ways, and it's only by trial and error that you figure out which one works. No, that's not a typo. It really IS that bad. I mean, security is all well and good but.....just to add a printer? That's going a bit too far, and is out of step with normal IT procedure in other companies. Security should be rearranged on the back end, not the front. In the end, you may have to use generic print drivers, which if the print servers were maintained properly wouldn't have to happen. Speaking of the print servers, they're a complete chaotic mess. There's 20 of them - yes 20 - and even then you have to run scripts to install the driver sometimes. It's done by location, and they don't even have enough print servers for every location. This of course could be cut down severely if they were better organized - something I brought to my manager and never heard back from, so it obviously fell on deaf ears. I've never in my life experienced such a convoluted way to add printers - and I've been in IT for years now. Most companies maintain their print servers and limit their print servers to no more than 3 plus maybe a dev server for print driver testing purposes. Not Ipex. They choose chaos as a way to add printers which is obviously an impediment to your day and getting your tickets done in a timely manner. The escalation teams are a gigantic pain to work with in many cases. They will frequently boomerang tickets back to you and put no notes in the ticket, so you have no idea why they did it or what you can do differently. Or, they won't read the notes you put in and send tickets back to you asking you to do the EXACT SAME THINGS YOU'VE ALREADY DONE! Or they'll claim that restarting a computer is not a legitimate troubleshooting step (spoiler alert - IT IS....). Once I even had a member of the server team - a guy notorious for having a bad attitude - send a ticket back to me to ask me to do something that - according to screenshot HE PUT IN THE TICKET - was greyed out. That's right - he literally told me to do something I didn't have the access to do. This is very annoying when it happens because the level 1 team has enough tickets to deal with without having to deal with tickets coming back to you for no reason. But the biggest reason this workplace is dysfunctional is the incredibly poor communication and decision making that comes from both management and the department heads. They made everyone in the department take the updated ITIL training despite the fact that it was mostly tailored around project management and IT management. This means it was about 99% irrelevant to my job as frontline support. I counted 3 pieces of information relevant to me, 2 of which I already knew. I know it was mandatory because the boss's boss who was responsible for this in the initial email literally used the phrase "certification is mandatory." There's not much room for ambiguity in that statement. We were sent out a survey after the training was done as well. After giving relevancy a low score and using a hypothetical to make a point, I got a call from my manager that his bosses were "Karening" out on him - so to speak - and when I brought this up with him he just cut me off, raised his voice, and denied my claim. I also forwarded him the initial email pointing out that training was mandatory, because my manager claimed it wasn't mandatory. I received no response back. So, apparently the survey was a complete waste of time because all the bosses were looking for was "sugar coated cheerleading" as I like to call it. It kind of defeats the purpose of a survey if you're only going to listen to positive feedback and ignore the negative. It also begs the question - why wasn't the survey anonymous? Do you want real feedback or repressed feedback? That speaks volumes as to how the IT department is ruled. But in my experience that's the way the department heads of Ipex IT rule their people - management by dictatorship. Get in line or else. I knew the managers all up the ladder ignored my feedback when I attended a virtual IT townhouse and the department head kept lauding how ITIL was the almighty path to continuous improvement. Meanwhile this training took out half our working days for a week, which made the level 1 unassigned queue balloon in size from 50 tickets to 250 tickets. This also fell on deaf ears to the department heads from what I heard. It took us a month to recover from that. I was branded a villain with attitude. But here's my so-called "attitude" - I only gave 1 question on that survey a negative rating. The other 15 I gave middling to high marks on. Also, once we got through that month of catching up on tickets in spare time during the day I attended every single training I had time for on their elearning system. WOW.....overreact much? This prompts several red flags as to how the IT department is governed. Quite a dysfunctional environment Ipex has built in it's IT department. Fast forward to a couple of months later - FYI Ipex has employees on a 6 month probationary period instead of the standard 3. The reason why will become apparent later on in this review. I had heard plenty of positive feedback about the job I did from various users both in and outside of my service area. Then 1 day I get to work and my admin account is disabled without warning, before any feedback is given to me. I had to deal with a walk-in or 2 so I did that but as soon as I got back the local HR guy was waiting for me and pulled me into a meeting. My manager was there virtually on Teams, and he spent a whopping 10 seconds speaking only saying I had "performance issues" and that's all he said, no specifics. Oh, but it's "not personal." Right..... Once he was off the call I asked the HR guy if the manager had given him any feedback because this was the first I'd heard of any performance issues, the HR guy said no he didn't get any information about this either so he couldn't give me any feedback. This blatant mismanagement of my career raises several red flags.  Now we get to the headline - after letting me go they actually had the gall to ask me to sign paperwork that included a gag order in exchange for a measly 2 weeks' extra pay and benefits. I am fortunate to not be someone who lives paycheque to paycheque, so I didn't need Ipex's hush money and frankly my intelligence was insulted that they thought they could buy my silence so cheaply. I went back and forth with them a couple of times, but in the end still refused to sign the gag order because I value my freedom of speech too much. They're still fighting with me months later after I was let go as they filled out my ROE incorrectly (in my opinion potentially deliberately) which is holding up my EI application. Lip service has been paid to getting it done expediently but still nothing has been done. BOTTOM LINE - this company doesn't live up to it's culture. They pay lip service to it but will never live up to it. It's incredibly dysfunctional so if you want to work here.....buyer beware. You're walking into a dysfunctional work environment.

The way I was treated - and continue to be treated - at and by this company was and is unethical, unprofessional, disrespectful, and callous.  

Working at IPEX Management at their Clarkson location has been a largely positive experience, offering valuable opportunities for professional growth and development. The company fosters a supportive environment where collaboration is encouraged, and many colleagues are genuinely great to work with. 

The overall company culture is innovative, fast-paced, and results-oriented which can be very rewarding. There's a definite sense of contributing to something significant, and the work itself is often engaging.

However, like any workplace, there are areas for improvement. While many team members are fantastic, there have been some challenges with certain aspects of the management team. At times, communication could be clearer, and a more consistent approach to leadership and employee support across all levels of management would be beneficial. Addressing these inconsistencies could significantly enhance the overall employee experience and unlock even greater potential within the teams.

Despite these points, I believe IPEX Management is a good place to build a career. The strengths of the company, particularly its commitment to innovation, market position, and talented workforce provide a solid foundation. With some refinements in management practices, IPEX has the potential to be an even better workplace.

Because it was a unionized plant their was always something that come up on a daily basis that you had to look into. You had you daily thing to do like one day it would do attendance you also had to make sure we had enough workers for each shift when they would call in sick and I took those messages off every day 3 time a day. Had to look in the payroll systems to make sure no one forgot to punch in or out if you didn,t fix now it would be messed up when you did they payroll so it was done daily.
When I first started it was Redpath and then Multi Fittings and IPEX just going thru the changes from one company to the other, also when we had strikes what we as management had to do.
Could always go to management and they would listen to what you had to say.
Always got along with co-workers and dealt with the employees in the plant on a daily basis and won the trust for assisting with confidential issues.
When they down sized and I was one of many to be let go, because
IPEX had become my family with all the years I was employed.
For most of the time you always had something to do and if I didn't I
would ask someone in another department if they needed help and if I needed help I could also go to other departments.

As a probationary employee, expect to be given no formal training and standard operating procedures on any production equipment or job tasks, and given little to no feedback or reviews on your job performance. If you do make it past probation, assuming you aren't dismissed without cause, walked out and asked to leave the property. You should be prepared to have your shift changed from days to nights, laid off, harassed until you quit, have your breaks timed and be monitored on camera, micromanaged and be suspended without proper grounds. The collective bargaining agreement is only followed when it benefits the company. Managers will literally come in on their days off unannounced to see what you're doing. If you have a family or responsibilities understand that this company simply does not care, you will not be considered and company decisions will be justified regardless of how it affects you and how little sense it makes, you are a number and are replaceable. If you have any shred of self respect you should look for a job else where, there’s a reason that despite a decent wage they cant keep or find employees. 

 Workload is reasonable. Work life balance is fair. My experience with the managers was good, they were considerate. The work I needed to do was interesting and challenging. I had opportunities to learn  and expand my  experience. My workload was flexible, meaning I could  organize what I needed to do each day/week as long as deadlines were met. I enjoyed the people that worked there, and upper management was understanding and helpful. The remuneration was very good, and benefits were flexible according to personal choices that could be adjusted annually.
Management frequently went out of their way to put on a meal, B-B-Q, birthday or milestone achievement celebration that included employees. An annual Family Fun Day, golf tournament, baseball game, any reason at all to celebrate something - they would do it. As well, they would give out swag (cups, hats, shirts, etc) to celebrate something the company had achieved. And they are VERY safety conscious!

 I would highly recommend IPEX as an employer.

IPEX manufactures PVC pipes of various sizes and lengths. It is interesting to work as a machine operator and learn the process involved in making PVC pipes by extrusion machines. The machine operator measures the pipes and makes necessary adjustments on the machine to make sure that the products meets the predetermined dimensions. Internal and external surfaces are examined to ensure good formation of the extrusion process. Length and bell formation are examined to meet conformity to specifications. All the measurements and quality control checks are done on hourly intervals to ensure that the products meet the customer’s specifications. Pipes are then packaged and securely strapped ready for shipment. The workplace is organized and cleaned to ensure a safe and clean working environment. Work schedule is 12 hour shifts, 7 days in two weeks. Production work requires a lot of standing. There are three 30 minutes breaks which are paid.

Expectations for productivity are reasonable. Safety is #1 on company's priority list. Factory is clean, but noisy. Hearing protection is required.  The managers seem thoughtful and helpful, but they are not on the floor a lot. Supervisors tend to have favourites - too bad.  The company looks for things to celebrate - like meeting a quota, or having a great week, or someone retiring, and give out incentives now and then. We have dinners provided occasionally and bar-B-Qs. The continental shift takes some getting used to but provides lots of days off to get things done around the house. I've worked a few places, but this is the best one I've experienced! A negative is the attitude of some fellow workers, but I think they haven't had much experience elsewhere and feel entitled - at least that's my impression.  This place also gives annual bonuses, up to 4% in addition to your regular pay.

Mid-level management and HR turnover rate is high. The onus is on the employee to adjust. The culture is good amongst employees, but toxic from management. Inequity and favoritism are high. Disciplinary actions are rampant, and are often punitive, rather than corrective, and not followed according to the Collective Agreement. They don't follow their own policies. They lie and manipulate to suit their narrative. There is little "leadership" IQ, and have a (non-effective) authoritative style- unquestioned obedience. 
Some supervisors are supportive, the jobs are decent, and employees- as a whole- are great.
Employee- to employee  culture is good.

People didn't get promotion in the same department where they work; even they have more then enough knowledge and experience in the same department. The guy who hired for manager position has no experience with zero knowledge and surprisingly he got hired from other department. Management didn't call for any interview to any candidate including me who applied from the same department for that position and who deserve to get position. They even didn't posted on bulletin board. New manager learned everything from old employees who worked from many years have good knowledge and experience. Then after several month start making their own rules. He was treating his departmental employees like a pupet, gave more and more burden and force them to leave from work.

•	Forwarded customer’s debit memos to collectors. 
•	Communicated with collectors or customers for back up on all deductions taken without supporting documents. 
•	Made  appropriate AR adjustments, and copy to general accounting department. 
•	Prepared, analyze, and enter A-D payment. 
•	Sorted and prepare Cash receipts and adjustment folders. 
•	Processed all check refunds to clients, including corresponding AR adjustments 
•	Processed charge-backs of all unearned / unauthorized discounts. 
•	Archived cash receipts and adjustment batches. 
•	Filed credit reports into customer files.
