Worked here for close to thirteen (13) years and watched the company's culture continue to get worse. 

There is a divide between drivers and management that can only be described as unhealthy. The company claims to make safety their number one priority but can not follow government imposed safety meetings, I would describe their safety program as a discipline tool apposed to a mechanism to improve and prevent. Management on a daily yell, scream and, swear at people as a form of communication - I guess they think we lost our hearing from driving? Career advancement or even lateral movement doesn't happen, in my time there no one moved up or was offered any chance for other opportunities. Office positions are filled by people working in the office failing - if you fail in operations then you get a job in sales. Pay is the only benefit to being there which is negotiated by the union. On that note there is no guarantee you will be paid what you worked as it is common practice to 'wage shave' so you never get the time you put in. Also in the past they do not meet deadlines as previously agreed to for payments. 

Overall there is a sense of entitlement by the management at Inland Calgary. I don't recommend this as a place to work for anyone especially if you are able to think for yourself - they don't like that.

The pay was good if you work a lot of OT which was required. As a loader operator on the afternoon shift it’s only you and the batchman running the plant for all the mixer drivers from 2ish until close so you can end up working 3-4 hours of OT some days. Hours are either 5:30am-2:00 pm or 10am-6pm or close which was almost never 6pm. Afternoon shift also has to jackhammer concrete from the mixer at the end of the day which is loud, dirty and physically demanding.  I also worked mornings on Saturdays so I was tired often working 6 days a week with all the OT but it was alright if a guy has no hobbies. I was laid off for winter and told by the supervisor that everyone liked working with me and he would be calling me back to work in March. He ended up hiring a friend of his to run loader, never called me back and ignored my calls. Haven’t talked to him since I was laid off and never went back to work for them. 

There are a mix of different types of shops you can work for when it comes to this company, small shops which are usually used to cover area between larger cities, and provide backup to those larger cities if workloads are too high there, mid-sized non-union shops, and the large Union shops in Calgary and Edmonton for example. The larger shops, both Union and non-union pay a better rate than the small shops, but even the small shops pay better than some of the competition. Depending where you work, drive times range from a few minutes to a couple hours, and you are properly compensated for overtime after 8 hours, instead of 10 hours like some companies. The benefits are amazing across the board, and you get them fairly quickly. Management is management, if you end up not liking each other, you probably won't have the best time together.

You are not given proper job training and management is always more interested in their bonuses than to give the facility proper tooling. Management takes the funds from one facilities budget and gives it to another or moves it into an area where it will improve the bonus. 
Management doesn't respect the hiring process and lies about what is expected to do the job. You WILL have to work 2 Saturdays a month period. 
Management steals equipment and uses it for their own purposes including taking off the decals to hide the ownership.
Management doesn't reward for initiative instead they criticize and hold you back.
If you are looking to move ahead you need to be a friend of the managers and if you do something to better yourself without your supervisor first asking you, you'll never be able to move forward and will always be put down. 

i,ve been working with Inland concrete for 3 years now as plant operator, they do follow the union rights and safety is quite often a big deal, many hours of work with most of week ends and some long week end too in heavy production period, most of managment is good to deal , all the lead hand and co-workers are awesome, there's often a good positive attitude working there which makes even the toughest days pass by rapidly , some day can be quite the challenge even tho they don't make it harder for you, you're actually allowed to take a debreath and a  quick break which molst of the company don't ! pay is exellent, hope i'll be back soon, the covid19 situation is bringing the whole city on it's knee so no one to blame on that.

If you enjoy working 6-8 months out of the year steady with no life then this job is for you...managment stays in the background looking like they will take care of you and make sure safety is up to snuff but this isn't the case it's a get it done, worry about the safety after we have an incident. Managment cares only about saving money so he can get his bonus and when they are done with you they lay you off or fire you. Workplace morale is low and depressing and never taken into consideration. Stay away from this place unless you like being a robot.

Excellent company to work for. Great work environment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I go to work, pre trip My unit, usually chat with coworkers while waiting to load, then off to the customers to have another visit while unloading. Great job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
A steady paycheck. There's a lot of favoritism there amongest other issues, and I would not recommend.

Coming to work everyday! And dealing with the culture!

Stressful and teribble culture!

My job includes morning prep work and inspections. Before a busy day of production the team reviews and documents any hazards that may occur during a regular day. Production begins when all try to succeed at a efficient communication level. Learning plants and trouble shooting break downs or computer errors is always exciting. Repairing problems quick and safely is important to keep management and diverse customer base satisfied.

Poorly Run, just chaos old equipment, there was no team, It’s just show up go home that’s it it’s a paycheque but sure was hard coming here to work. Hard to schedule any time off, you are required to because they usually don't have enough staff to cover most busy days.  Lack of positive communication and they won't listen anyways. Meetings are held just to enforce dictatorship rules and find scapegoats for problems.
