The front line staff and most site managers/ coordinators are lovely people and the individuals supported are hands down the best part of the job. The upper management and head office team only have their personal interests in mind. Senior leadership promote who they think will best carry out what they want done. Head office is gossipy and uncomfortable to be at for any longer than a few minutes. If people at the office like you then you are in the clear, but if not they make time spent there miserable. 
Coordinators are asked to take on significantly more that what is expected in the 40 hour work week with no additional compensation or benefit. Senior leadership, who is in place to support coordinators (managers), often deflects any request for support, as they are unaware of how to support the scope of responsibility that coordinators are responsible for. Instead any requests for support are turned back onto that person who had asked for help. 
With so many companies in the Victoria area I would highly suggest applying anywhere else before applying to Integra.
I worked for Integra for many years, but changed the dates below to protect my privacy. 

I worked for Integra while on a working visa in Canada. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with Integra. I was a live in support worker working 24hour shifts twice a week, with an individual on a 1-1 basis. These hours gave me a great home and work balance. From the get go I was supported very well, having training from experienced staff at the home and elsewhere. This in turn gave me lots of encouragement and and made me feel confident in my role. 
Having previously had experience in the care sector I quickly moved from being a live in support worker to the team lead support worker and keyworker of the individual. There is plenty of opportunity to 'work up the ranks' as it were, as long as you are prepared to work hard and of your own intive. I enjoyed my job with Integra, the staff you work along side with on a daily basis are fantastic. Help is given when needed, advice is there if wanted and the level of care individuals receive is amazing. Sadly I had to return to England but my time with Integra was great. If I ever had the opportunity to work with Integra again I would in a heart beat. 

Integra Support Services has been going through some amazing changes recently, and I have to say the difference is noticeable. With the arrival of our new CEO, there has been a real shift in creating a healthier and more positive workplace culture. Both management and frontline support workers are starting to feel the benefits of this new direction.

In the past, it sometimes felt like certain managers were more interested in just collecting a pay cheque than in actually leading their teams. That lack of accountability made it tough for staff who truly care about the work we do. Now, under the new leadership, there’s a clear expectation that managers step up and provide real guidance and support. Those who aren’t comfortable with being held accountable are choosing to move on, and that’s ultimately a positive change for everyone who remains.

The new culture encourages teamwork, accountability, and genuine leadership at every level. For support workers, it feels like our voices are being heard more, and there’s a renewed sense of purpose in the work we do. It’s refreshing to see an organization really invest in building a better environment, and I feel proud to be a part of Integra at this exciting time.

Management has changed pretty frequently, sometimes very competent and engaged, sometimes more hands off and lacking key communication with employees. This is hard for clients as this sometimes effects their daily schedules, person centred approaches and the staff working with clients. If you follow their standards and policies and are a caring and competent support worker, management does show appreciation for their employees. Some coordinators have offered break days to staff and offer other supports. You have zero job protection though and people have gotten fired for trivial things. Upper management are friendly and professional but a lot more hands off and don't appear to have built relationships with most of their clients. They do hire amazing coordinators, but tend to over work them. As a CSW, I would recommend working at alot of their sites. You're not getting raises if you ask for them. There's a lot of flexibility to pick up extra hours. 

I’ve worked in this field on the mainland and here on the Island. This company is very concerned about workers but there aren’t enough workers because I think people get gov. money and stay home to avoid Covid. We are often short staffed and our Supervisor has to too a shift, even a night shift! Everything is different now. I wish I was paid higher wages but the NDP won’t fund social services so unless I go to the school board and have no work every summer I prefer to work for this company. My supervisor is great. The Director comes often and talks to the workers. Even the ED comes to see how wer’e doing! They all care very much about us and especially the people we look after. That’s why I stay. I love my coworkers and the people I look after. Before all this Covid we had parties, BBQ’s, amazing Xmas gatherings and lots of fun times between homes. I hope we get back to those days soon.

RUN, RUN, RUN! This company has a high turn over. From the owners,  office staff, at all levels and most of the managers. The work environment is toxic, unprofessional, unethical and most of all has NO INTEGRITY! This is not a company that you want to work for as a csw or to be associated with. Working in non union homes for way less money. Mostly worked short staffed, managers didn’t help out. Given 8 hours of orientation and expected to give proper care without adequate time to learn the role. With so many amazing companies on the island apply elsewhere, anywhere! I have found out that other companies will match the wage you are currently earning or pay more as it seems other companies are all unionized. 
They do not appreciate CSW’s, or the people they provide support to. 
Worked for a few years as a casual,  cared about the people but could no longer work for this uncaring, non professional, toxic company!

I worked as a manager for 6 months, the work load is out of control as they fire managers or managers quit. They then expect the other managers to run 2 homes with no extra pay. We are on call 24/7 without any compensation. They asked me to come early before my shift so I can see which staff are showing late.  They. Find constant excuses when you try to take your paid time off.  They do not give any bonuses to managers, ask us out to breakfast then hand us the bill. There is no work life balance. Constant meetings and micro managing. They fire people for no reason telling them it’s not about your ability as these have been good workers. They can never get payroll correct and it’s constant correcting pay. They go through a manager at a home at least once a year or less. People from the office quit then they delegate the tasks to the managers at the homes. 

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Integra Support Services for several years now. Over the years, I’ve seen the organization grow and evolve, but the positive changes happening recently have been especially inspiring.

It's become more open, inclusive, and supportive culture—one where staff voices are genuinely heard and valued. It’s refreshing to see leadership that not only listens but also takes meaningful action to improve both the employee and client experience.

Working here has given me the opportunity to be part of a team that truly cares about making a difference in people’s lives. The sense of community, collaboration, and compassion among staff is something special. I’m proud to be part of Integra and excited to see how we continue to grow and strengthen together.

All of the departments within the Integra family are amazing and a special shout-out to the Residential Crew with their dedicated and enthusiastic director and awesome program coordinators!!

I loved this job at first, I learned a lot and had a strong relationship with the clients . High turnover of all levels of staff and management was consistent through the many many years I worked here . A lack of support for workers and absent / new management meant that bullying could thrive. At the house I worked this meant that all caring and dedicated staff were bullied out leaving only staff who spent all day on their phones. This hasn’t been taken seriously by upper management. 
This job often included physical violence from clients, with little or no support for staff as it’s “just part of the job“. Company will blame staff when crisis do arise to avoid accountability with governing bodies.
Would not recommend this company.
