JINYA Ramen Bar

I worked there for a month in Jinya Burnaby, what I have earned is 12.7$/ hr, without any tips at all or no free staff meal.  Although I only served Ramen there since I did not have SIR to serve alcohol. 
According to the management, I have to pass a "writing test" and an "oral test " in order to get the tips, however, its really just up to the manager since the older workers never had any oral tests before. So I worked so hard, had to study so many hours after work. I was doing the exact duties as the others but I did not get any tips.  I was a fast learner and hard worker. The manager let me work 5 days a week because i am a fast and great worker and they didn't have to share any tips with me.  I quit after the 3rd time they failed me the oral test, how could someone only been there for 4 weeks have all the knowledge as the older ones. But that is NOT the reason to take their tips away!! This place is just not Friendly at all, some of the guys there are just mean, thinking they are soooo much better cuz they r the older workers. TAKE MY ADVICE AND STAYYYY AWAY if you wanna have a fair wage and a happy working environment!!!!!!

I originally applied to be a line cook but once training was done, they stuck me in the back washing dishes and closing the kitchen. Management was completely laughable and horribly condescending, when I asked them about the paystubs they did not give me any answers so I had to figure it out myself. When I wanted to book a day off, I tried to reach out and ask a manager but they refused to respond and communicate. I don't recommend this job unless you're a high school student or a desperately broke college student. The hours here are abysmall.

Jinya is a fun place to work, most of employees are really friendly and fun. I had a good time making connection with my co worker and my customers. 

However, from the management perspective there is a lot of things that they need to improve such as benefits, salary, management structure etc. 
Although Jinya location that I worked is a franchised so I don't  know about any other location. 

Overall I had a good time making friends here but was very disappointed on their management strategy; They need to treat and listen to their employees better, cause the owner plays favourite so good luck with that.

JINYA Ramen Bar was an amazing experience for me. The managers were the most supportive group ever. My fellow servers/coworkers were also the most hardworking group I have worked with. I learned how to better multitask and keep focused on the task at hand. Serving, I ran into so many different cultures from all around the world, and it was just magnificent. The hardest part of the job was to not sweat. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that I had an impact on someone's dinner to make it a more special dinner.

Poor management and lack of communication make this a very frustrating place to work. Speaking up about concerns often results in reduced hours or being reassigned to a busser role without any explanation. The environment feels manipulative, and staff, especially younger employees, are frequently overworked. Many experienced staff members left within the first few weeks of opening, which says a lot about the workplace culture. Overall, there is a clear lack of respect and support for employees, and interactions with ownership can be unprofessional and discouraging.

Unorganized, dysfunctional and overall terrible management. Underemployed when we need extra help and over employed when we don't. Keep cutting hours without any warning. And they tried forcing us to sign a contract, threatening us with less hours. Contract was basically if you want to get paid overtime we would have to work more than 12 hours in a day to be eligible. So a salary contract for an hourly wage.

They were asking new hires with no experience to work without pay for the first couple days which against the BC employment standards act. They pay new hires below minimum wage with no tips. The management people are sucks as they have no empathy on their stuffs which represents a very poor company culture.

Worst place I have ever worked in my life… very toxic environment . Managers are super rude, and expect you go out of your way to do things for them for so little money you make. Except some girls who I worked with everyone in that place are just the worst human beings 

The management team at the back of the house is pretty intense but overall they are nice and dedicated to proving assistance. The tip pool system is very clear in a way that it allows you to see how much increase in tips you can expect over time.

I don't know about this work place well.
Because this manager was bad.
I've never got my money. I am still waiting they pay for me my salary.
I am waiting it for 3 months. They didn't answer my contact.
I think I have to ask to lawyer as soon as I can.
