A typical day IN THE KITCHEN includes working in a completely stressed out environment with no sense of communication followed by complete lack of recognition for hard work and dedication to the improvement of standards. Mundane tasks are normal and creativity is often frowned upon. The owners visit once a year but all upper management treat them like deities that might pop out and scream at them at any moment of the day.

The owners were resetting the pay clock ex: if you clocked working 9.25 hours that day, they were set back to 8.00 hours. Which is in direct violation of Canada's employment standards.

I was in school full time 45 +/- hours a week and working 50 +/- hours ontop of it. I was promised by management the relief of hours to come in January because I started at half that amount of time. With the promise unfulfilled, my direct line of management was terminated 2 months following, and a new manager flew in, demanding more of my time and was told to come in during hours of my school classes. My reward: watching that manager get a good pat on the back for raising customer ratings by 10%.

Work stress is one thing, but the owners do not care about their employees personal commitments, nor the cost of their health, to gain any scratch of money. Most days I was forced in choosing a shower or eating when I got home with 6 hours to recover from exhaustion. 

It taught me the bad things and wrong way of doing things in this industry. The only thing that can be given light is the overall staff. Most of them have a great sense of humour and don't mind some friendly competition.

Although seemingly a fun work enviornment at first, Jubilations has sadly become a toxic workplace for anyone who dares to care about giving it their all. If you work hard you are not rewarded for your efforts, but instead given more tasks until you ultimately burn out. The staff are constantly gossiping and bad-mouthing each other, so much so that head managemnt picks favorites on who to schedule for shifts and who not to. One wrong move and management will slowly try to quiet quit you from the company, leaving you anxious on how to act at every term. Ironic for a workplace all about acting. 
The immense workload every shift is also not matching to the pay, despite the generous tips from patrons. You will help out at bar, refill drinks, take orders, serve food, take more drink orders, act as a character all night only to stay past midnight to clean everything all up until the next day. It is very labour intensive on one's body, and with the preffered coworkers getting to lounge with management during all of this it becomes frustrating to continue working your hardest. 
I would not reccomend working at Jubilations for one's mental and physical health. There are plenty of other resturant jobs Im sure are just as fun and rewarding, without the backstabbing taxation this position brings.

Working Jubilations is up and down, the management don't appreciate the servers for their hard work, there's no place to switch departments or work for a higher position, and we're paid minimum wage and expected to give maximum effort with little to no breaks. Even though a half hour pay is taken off the shift as a "break", it's rare you'll actually get a full break with cleaning jobs, restocking jobs, and other tasks around the theatre. Management has all but actively refused requests from servers to be trained in the bar even when we only had 2 full time bartenders and almost 500 patrons a night. While the coworker environment is welcoming and inclusive for LGBTQA people and older and younger workers, the staff are so overworked and underappreciated that the energy jumps from wildly positive to wildly negative.

Christmas seasons are severely understaffed and there's no mercy to the servers for it, just pressure to preform the same for 500 people as you would for 100. 

Not worth sacrificing your personal life to be indebted to higher ups that don't care about you.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You meet about 5 people that are amazing and stay there because they genuinely care about dinner theatre and then you have massive turnover, favouritism, Underpaid staff, tip skimming, no costume budget, overcooked meals, and massive cliques throughout the establishment.

Pay not matching the work you output even slightly

cliquey, toxic, and messy. do not work here unless you have a kink for getting stepped on!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
4ish arrive, do setup, people come in at 530, seat and bring salads, take orders, be in character, go break for a second, come out get roles for dinner, do said roles, wait more, come out coffee and dessert and telling people the place does not get warmer we are sorry its so cold please forgive us here take more coffee, wait more, bow and spend two more hours packing up to come back at 1pm because there is a jr show happening. get home around 1am

The place was wonderful.  The staff was great management was good.  However some months you would be working more than full-time hours which is fine but sometimes at the start of a new show you wouldn't get a shot for a month and a half.  And you never knew when that was going to happen so it made it hard to gauge how much to save and if you are an adult with rent and bills it's a little hard.  Especially because when it does pick up again,  they expect full-time availability again at the drop of a hat. 

Management was great the jib was fun.  But they do have some favourites and if you aren't a part of the main group during the slow period you crying and trying to space out Raman.  

Really fun place to be with a great atmosphere and nice people.  But make sure you use a main job already don't expect to be able to keep a roof over your head comfortably with it as your main job. 

Jubilations Dinner Theatre is a fun and engaging place to work at. he crew is nice and always ready to lend a hand. The management is open and constantly communicating with us, which helps keep things in order and ensures there is a lack of confusion. Hours are fairly flexible, and can regularly get extra shifts. A typical day is generally "COntrolled Chaos". Especially during service. It's daunting at first, but throughout the day you get used to it. The hardest part of the job for me is memorizing tables. There are quite a few tables and memorizing every placement is a bit of a struggle. My favourite part of the show is by far the fact that you are essentially a part of the show itself. Since its a dinner theatre, the servers and bussers and everyone involved must dress and act to fit the theme of the show. For example, if the show was based off of "Despicable Me", the servers and bussers would have to dress as villains or Minions. Its a lot of fun.

Waitstaff interacting with guests in character is a novel dinner theater, and can be a lot of fun, but ultimately the staff are overworked, poorly compensated, and treated with little to no respect by both guests and management.

Jubilations demands you dedicate far too much of your life to it, asking that you sing, dance, act, serve, clean, and entertain for minimum wage. You are expected to be costumed, and pay for said costume out of your own pocket every three months. The workplace culture will  actively shame if your personal life every interferes with your work, but middle management are paradoxically impossible to reach or get straight answers from.

Do not apply. If you are hired, which you likely will be due to how consistently starved the place is for staff, you'll develop concerns immediately, and all of them will go unaddressed.

This job is fun, no doubt. You dress up and serve people in costume as your character. But it's a hard job. There's so much responsibility and every night is a new challenge. You'll get used to being severely understaffed on high house count days; you'll get used to being abused by guests; you'll get used to not having your issues taken seriously by management. They do not pay enough for the amount of work that is done everyday. Imagine working at the most difficult, stressful, and demanding job you've ever had, and then going home and not being able to pay your rent. That's the reality of working here. They demand so much from us; entertain your guests but do it professionally because you have a job to do, but don't expect to be paid enough for your time or your effort. Be prepared to serve 45-60 people a night. The higher up people do not care about us. Our theatre is the most popular out of the three in Canada, and we have the lowest amount of support. 

Apparently, I was getting "complaints from customers" despite how every night I worked, I would get compliments and handsomely tipped from my tables. So they decided to throw me into another training shift with another server who was a good friend of the floor manager. He was extremely rude and literally made me do all the work for him that night. He sat in the back socializing and doing nothing while I was actually doing my job. 

Tips are shared among the servers and for training shifts you only get a "half-tip." (For EX: All servers would get $20 and servers in training would get $10). So I got a half tip despite doing all the work that night.

In the end, I found out that the same guy who was "training" me pulled some strings with management to get me thrown out and have his friend take my position. Unless you enjoy being expendable AVOID WORKING HERE.

Worked here a long time. It was okay place to work people were great, money sucked though. In the years I worked here I was still only getting paid Minimum wage. Managment sucked big time you definitely felt like you can be easily replaced. My main manager was an amazing boss until she got pregnant and then completely changed as a person. Once they opened back up when they could from the pandemic. I said i might come back. But once I picked up all my stuff I forgot there. It was like all the friends I thought I had there where over. Instead of asking for my keys back in a nice way they demanded them, and they refused my request to talk to my old boss. Will never work for this company again. I'd rather end up on the streets.
