First thing in the morning we have a safety meeting then the foremen give each person their job for the day. (A job can be different each day) Mainly work on rail cars. 
A typical day at work is loading beams, cutting cans open, inspect rail carts, guide loads of beams, load beam, rebar, and pipe onto trailers. 
I learned how to properly load flat bed trailers with Kleysen.
Very good management, calm and nice people. 
The co-workers are good people, fun and give your day a boost when you're at work. 
The hardest part of this job is the weather. It switches quickly, you can be very cold and then hot the next minute. 
The most enjoyable part of this job is you can find something to do and the long hours.

Its a good place to work when you are young and want to get experience to find a better job. Management there sucks, they care more about their image to clients than they do you. your safety is in your hands to not get hurt because there aren't strict or reliable safety protocols. Don't expect to go far working for this company. The training they give you for running equipment isn't recognized by other companies. they refused to pay their hard working truck drivers overtime so most of them quit. For these reasons and more this place has over 50% turnover rate.

All upper management is by book people. No former driver is in management except one guy who gives orientation. Everything is unplanned. You can’t refuse a load if you are last man standing. Very strict environment in office. Your boss will document each and everything in your file. If you working good you will be pushed more and more to work more good. They need beyond 100% results. Remember you are salaried but you have to work minute by minute. Can’t leave 15 mins early even if all your work Is finished.

Working the weekends with the guys are awesome... during the weekdays it’s a little more congested and they have some of their favourite guys they get the good jobs and everybody else gets the jobs nobody else wants other than that not a bad place to work just have to stay out of the politics of the workplace.

My time at big k was great . A mix of different work when on bulk out of Winnipeg . Dedicated customers and a great group of employees . At times work was slow but during the peak busy times you had plenty to do . Equipment was always looked after but bare bone for creature comforts on the road . You’re typically only gone a night though . Unless sent out west to help the Saskatoon terminal. If it for personal interest change I would still be there today .

You work 5 days on,  then get 5 days off.

To many bosses that didn't no what they where doing

Don't no. Haven't been there for 2 years

Don't no haven't worked there in over 2 years

I enjoyed my time there,
 gained experience in alot of things, especially things I’d never done before,
The training was good for me,
 Didn’t let me loose on my own until I was ready, It was a very family oriented place

Grreat company to get liquid experience, plenty of work during summer, slows down a bit in winter, 90 percent local work, driving within 10 km zone, trucks are century old but good enough for local work, they send you highway very occasionaly however if a new contract is made then you could be on highway 2-3 days a week depending on seniority. 

Very dishonest management, a lot of favoritism, management don't lead by example. Some of the dispatcher treat drivers like garbage, mistakes on the payroll, lots and lots of gossiping, a lot of slip seating 5 trips a day with 5 different trucks, old dirty trucks full of garbage( used paper tissue and more) the perfect environment to catch Covid19. 

Unless you are prepared to be a lemming do not work here.  The culture is exclusionary unless you kiss up to the long standing employees (aka the popular kids) and are prepared to work 12 hour days without the pay or time off for the extra time worked.

Be prepared to be asked if you have any health issues, family issue and many other person questions that are not permitted but you must answer if you want the job.
