Kubota seems like a good company, but after working there for a while, I've realized they don't manage the company well at all. Supervisors don't give welders the chance to learn anything significant unless you're friends with them, or people they favour. The pay is decent, but as a welder looking to progress in the trade, kubota is not the place to do it. The work environment is immature, sith people spreading rumours about others, and there is little to no teamwork involved, when there should be. The company offers inadequate training, and the supervisor/management does not respect the companies training procedure, or employees seniority. If you are serious about welding, i would not recommend a career at Kubota Materials.




Various departments at kubota do not do their jobs properly, and it's the welders who get in trouble for it. 

New welders at kubota will be operating automated welding machines that are severely neglected, and any flaw in quality of weld is blamed on the welder, instead of the machines the company refuses to fix. 

Most companies would work with people who show skill in their field, but at kubota, it means nothing. The company holds people back from their potential. 

There is a severe fundamental problem with the company, and it's becoming a revolving door.

It's difficult to envision a future at kubota.

Coworkers are limited in knowledge, and show more immaturity than professionalism.

I left kubota because I saw the way the new management was turning the company. When I started there despite being a dangerous and stressful job management let little things slide and treated people like human beings. Before I left it had become similar to that of a prison. Suspending people left and right for small things all the while neglecting maintenance. When I left there were over 300 incidents in a 2 year span that involved loss time. I was hurt multiple times on the job myself. They cut all bonuses, they've taken away overtime. In 2020 they made an average of $370 an hour per employee but continued to try an raise quotas. It feels like a complete dystopia. The pay is good for orillia but not good for the actual job in comparison to other places. Just stay away. It's cut throat, management is out to get you constantly and not worth the health risk. 
I've never felt more relief quitting a job in my life. 

Every aspect proves that this company has been horribly mismanaged.

The corporate culture is terrible with no foundation of solid vision and mission to foster a good team. 
HR department has been horribly managed and has cultivated unhealthy corporate culture. Good people leave as soon as they realize that KMC is not a place to grow their career. 

The quality of the management also reflects the reality of the company. The management is not capable to provide vision and mission to the employees.  The management shows no empathy to the workers who work hard. Safety incidents are on repeat all time.  

If you want to work for this company, you should expect your everyday life with same issues with no solutions. And most importantly you need to know how to deal with stress and stupidities. 

This company has great products, great customers but very poorly managed. Salary is slightly on the low side but pension and benefits (IF you can get the same deal as current employees) are great.

It will be a frustrating experience working here as this company has so much potential but still underachieving. Some managers are not competent enough and that leads to promising employees leaving. The Japanese managers may not even understand what’s going on due to language barrier but they still insist on managing this company on a daily basis. Not sure if English is their only weakness but it’s simply not working..

Bottom line, if welding and metallurgy is your type of thing, this company has very good projects/products for your experience. Other than that you may have a better employment somewhere else.

This workplace has experienced a decline in its overall work environment over the past few years. Unfortunately, the hiring of certain individuals in management positions has led to a culture that marginalizes and looks down upon women in the workplace. This disrespectful treatment, irrespective of the quality of work performed, is coupled with a clear preference for those who are part of the inner circle comprised of both union and management members. It is disheartening to witness management belittling and speaking ill of employees to their peers, creating an extremely toxic work atmosphere.

The pay was good as long as your willing to put in a lot of hours

Working with the Japanese in Canada is impossible

Horrible management treats you like numbers instead of humans

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Putting out fires and fighting with the ministry of labour on a daily basis

Very difficult to go into such a toxic environment from most people on the floor. Management does NOT support their workers, when issues arise they are not taken seriously.
Human Resources is a joke, and is only there as a formality. Absolutely useless when people's livelihood is at stake.
Would not recommend to a friend.

Job security is excellent, benefits are very good and start day one.
Rotating shifts, lots of overtime available.  There are many departments and there are opportunities for advancement.

Run away from this place ...they do not support workers. Constantly hiring because they can't keep the workers they have. 
Would never recommend to a friend, unless they're able to eat alot of s**t
