Kandrea Insulation and Scaffolding

You'll be expected to constantly put in overtime with no additional compensation. You'll rarely have meetings with management to discuss your progress. Most likely, you'll be on your own or have 1-2 co-workers in your department. Because of the high turnover, you will have very little training.

The pay is not competitive and you will most likely be stuck at that salary for a while. 

WFH is not a set option, even during COVID peaks we didn't WFH when we definitely could have.

Work here as a last resort: you can learn a lot at this company but that's only because there isn't another option. You'll be thrown into the fire and expected to survive. If you don't, they will fire you.

Typical day at work: 8AM-5PM (1hr lunch). Just do the tasks assigned to you in your office.

What I learned: How to work under pressure and with little guidance

Management: Classic case of 3-4 old managers. Very little motivation to change their ways.

Workplace culture: The people are nice, but that isn't enough to enjoy the job.

They give you a truck and tell you to get to work with no real idea as to where you’re going or what you’re doing. They’re constantly undermanned because people realize it’s a mess and quit very quickly and the company refuses to replace them. They provide the absolute bare minimum in PPE. Like a single pair of gloves for a monthlong shift on the tools, headlamps they bought off of wish and no power tools whatsoever. Management only cares about enriching themselves and would happily screw over any employee to do so. Avoide at all costs. 

Also wages are bottom of the barrel and paid every two weeks. And if you take a camp job you’d better pray that they were smart enough to arrange a room for your stay. Very often they completely forget. 

I worked for Kandrea during a large project in Fort Saskatchewan.

The client was great, but Kandrea's wages were below industry average.
Below average wages attract below average workers. 

It was frustrating working along side people with little to no experience, getting paid the same wage. 

Insulation isn't the most glorious trade, but those who put in the time and effort to go to school and get their Red Seals shouldn't be punished.

I took this job after getting let go during the slow down.  Not a career, but for the time being its keeping the bills paid. A typical day consists of showing up at 6:30, getting a map and told what the job consists of. Management is ok, a few have never spent time in the field working, and as such don't understand what goes on day to day.  Hardest part of the job is the heavy lifting and sharp edges on pretty much everything you work on.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Lowest paying and like to adjust paychecks on you without telling you. Very sketchy company

Having money stolen by the company. Had to deal with very toxic owner

Very poor environment to have to deal with

well it was a experience to say the lease first tree months where absolutely fantastic ..but i had to send a worker for a d&a test and it  all went down hill for me after that great co worker great job site good client but manager was very inexperience. listened to my advice but transferred for voicing my opinion

- Job posted was very different to the job duties I  had. I would arrive 7:30 and work until 5 many times without break.  Constant contradictory changes.  Pressure to complete tasks.  A lot of meetings. 

For the most part working here was ok, but the company downsized and alot of work dried up due to the pandemic. Upper management was "ok", foreman was arrogant and two faced, and took no real responsibility for mistakes. Pertinent    information never made it to upper management unless it was self serving. 

When I was working for Kandrea, there was a lot of different environments that I got to work in. This was really fun for me.  The other thing I really liked was the amount of different tradesmen I got the chance to work and learn from. 

Kandrea provides opportunities for growth to its employees. It looks at ones potential and tries to improve on that potential. Management espouses work life balance. However, due to the recent economic conditions, salary and benefits have been cut - but that's better than closing down the company.
