Kepler Academy

This is the worst daycare anyone can work at all. It’s not clean at all. The entrance of the day smell so bad.  The management are a bunch of liars.They tell you that they like your work progress and after working there one week, they let you go for no good reason especially at the location in Sherwood park and west side. The coworkers talk behind your back. They gossip a lot. The management are not even trained well so they make rush decisions without thinking of possible solutions and outcomes . This daycare pretends to be the best daycare yet they are money minded, they don’t care about the children.  All they think about  is to make money. They promise to guide you and provide with more information because every daycare has different curriculum and routines but they  do not even that provide information. Lying to people is their best hobby. The work hours are so ridiculously  long . Their pay is not that great at all. The working conditions are overwhelming. That is why they are always changing staff every week. It doesn’t matter what location you are working at. None of the locations are good at all. The staff turn over is so high. 
People are always quitting after realizing how they treat staff who are starting to work. This daycare will just fire the workers in a week if you are lucky to reach a week. They never answer calls at all when you call for more information or if you have questions. There is nothing good about this daycare. Working at this daycare stressed me out at the  end of the day due to high demands which the management can’t do if they were told to do. If you are looking for a place which has a sense of belonging from both your managers and coworkers, THIS IS NOT A GOOD OPTION TO COME AND WORK AT. I will emphasize this in big letters because I did not feel welcome at all. Both the staff and management made biased comments when I was working there the entire time. Please keep that in mind if you are considering to work there. 
If it was possible, I would give this daycare zero stars. This is a very honest review about this daycare.  The management are so bossy, rude and brag a lot  how they have a lot of experience yet they can barely work well in the classrooms. They  can’t even find solutions  of a high staff turn over . I have never seen a high staff turn over like at the one at this daycare. People think it is a good daycare but it’s not a good daycare at all. Please think twice before you work at this daycare. This is my feedback while I was working at the daycare. The last thing I did not mention is that they concentrate more on documentation instead meeting the children’s needs. There is no balance at all. They are constantly asking  you for this documentation instead of allowing you to care for the children. 


I am lucky enough to have attended their new employee training program (the first). It was fantastic. You get to see a model classroom like yours at another centre and meet other new employees so you feel connected to them. I just wish there was training on the app (Insight) included. There is a good facebook group that provides inspiration too. So far the negatives i have experienced are just related to staff. Some of them feel like they are the boss and know better than management and complain in front of children. A few treat new staff or young staff quite hashly. Within a few weeks of working there, we have had a new management team take over: a Director and Assistant Director and they are changing the schedule all over the place which has been very stressful but hopefully they will find a good solution and provide consistency because it was so much easier before. Overall, it has been no more challenging than any other childcare service but I do like the fact they offer excellent support to succeed. I love a lot of the help in programming, and the fact they allow wellness days and perks. They make an effort which is more than I can say of a lot of other daycares. I am hopeful i can be my best here.

My experience with Kepler has been great so far.  They have an intentional onboarding practice which provide opportunities for learning and growth.  By showing initiative and potential,  there are advancement opportunities toward a management positions.  Kepler has an amazing support team which includes ongoing coaching,  monitoring, professional development and support. The management team works really hard for their employees and the families.  The company provides benefits, tuition assistance, wellness and sick days.  Shifts are available for full time, part time and casual.  I have had a great working experience with Kepler over the past three years and will continue to grow with the organization. Kepler strives to create a positive culture and environment for their employees.

I have worked for Kepler Academy for over 5 years and it has been the highlight of my career. Our teams are incredibly committed to the healthy development, safety, and happiness of children, and going above and beyond typical requirements of ECE's in the childcare industry. I have grown professionally, which takes dedication and commitment, and it's been so rewarding. Managers expect accountability and excellence. Pushing yourself to grow is mandatory - it's not always easy, but very worth it. If you're a self-starter that brings a positive attitude, you will thrive, and contribute to a collaborative and caring culture.  You will have opportunities to grow into leadership roles. The sky is the limit! 

i recently stopped working at their newest location in south edmonton and let me just say, it was the most stress i’ve ever experienced from a job. 

The director and assistant director gave too much of a work load on the staff, showed little to no appreciation/encouragement or empathy to staff, and created unrealistic expectations for staff.

They often would say "we’re here for you guys give us all the stress you guys have, put on us! don’t be afraid to communicate with us" and then be completely FAKE and two faced. 

DO NOT BY ANY MEANS work at kepler academy at ANY location unless you enjoy being constantly stressed out, crazy and disrespectful management, and high work loads ☺️

New management gossips to staff about other staff and about the management issues, they don't support the staff, they keep moving children to other rooms when not developmentally ready. Pay isn't good and when you ask for wage increase they tell you that's not happening. If your not in the right position in the classroom, they provide you with a disciplinary action for supervision.

Management doesn't care here. It's all just for money. Staff are exhausted, burnt out, and overworked. Staff are always sick, there is always staffing issues. Expectations are high, support is none.

Would not recommend working here. 

This is the most stressful working environment with less pay. When you need support you won't get it. They listened to your complaints but they won't do anything about it. Load of work with more than children per one ECE. Always short of staff and a  high rate of staff turn over. They won't give you clear info. about the pay for working on weekends and you pretty much work for free. A lot of gossip among co-workers and they give priority to those who are friends with upper rank management. Also lack of communication.

I worked here for only 4 months.  when i started, i thought it was amazing.  The center and equipment are beautiful.  The pay was very low and they cram all these kids into small rooms.  There outside time was a fiasco.  kids were not allowed to leave the roof top playground to explore the area.  That probably has changed.. i hope.  I've never been at a center where they didn't allow outings.  they have no equipment to climb on in their playground and they also have a very limited amount of time outside.  Less than 30 minutes  aday.  their menu and food is great and it looks appeasing to adults, in reality, half the kids don't eat a lot.  for the price to put your child there, it is not worth it in my eyes.

Management is great and has good benefits..Parents are awesome,good teams,great teamwork.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
In my experience with Kepler the stressfull part is the transition time of the kids because they are mostly focussed on their favorite toys at the center and they barely move or listen

This is diversified daycare and there is a respect for one another

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
This is more like an extension of home and fanily daycare

I have worked for Kepler Academy for over a couple years. There is plenty of room to grow within the company. Personalities play a huge role in finding a great place to work. In my experience there are stronger directors than others. Some are more hands on and in the classrooms and willing to help and see you grow. Others are more in the office and letting the rooms fend for themselves. But the foundations of programming and curriculum align with FLIGHT, the pay is similar to that at other companies and the hours are 9 hour shifts with 1 hour break (8 hours a day). I would recommend Kepler Academy to any applicant
