What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping the clients. Marking change in the lives of families dealing with childhood cancer. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is difficult. The CEO expects all staff to work as much as possible and take the work home. It feels like you are never “off”. 
Low pay and squeezes everything they can out of employees. There is no plans to take care of staff who are doing hard difficult work. Not a lot of perks. Working from home is a no most of the time. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s a stressful work place. More work then there is people. Staff pulled in all directions with piles of work landing on desks. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy. The work we do for the families is rewarding.

Kids Cancer Care is renowned for its remarkable contributions to supporting children with cancer. The opportunity to work in such a meaningful role is undeniably rewarding. However, it is important to acknowledge that the job can be quite demanding, with management often demanding individuals to take work home and extend their working hours. Unfortunately, the organizational culture, particularly between departments and upper management, has exhibited signs of toxicity. In some instances, leaders have solicited input without genuine interest in the responses provided.

Kids Cancer Care is comprised of very smart, highly collaborative individuals. Management is agile and flexible. Great place for parents as KCC places importance on work-life balance… Family is first. Fun place to work with a beautiful, central office. Camp Kindle is the most magical place for families. Overall, would recommend! Good corporate culture. 

Great place to work. Everyone worked together to provide programs, education and camps for cancer children and their families. We were provided with upscale office surroundings and equipment. Advancement and continuing education were available as well. Management was always willing to listen.
All of the staff were perfect for their positions. Everyone bonded well and worked together. 
A well respected company to work for. If not for health reasons, I would still be working there.

Kids Cancer Care is more than a workplace. It’s a community of kids, parents, volunteers, donors and staff. It’s a beautiful thing to belong to. 

For 10 years, they provided me with incredible opportunities to learn, develop, and explore professionally. I found excellent leadership there - a great balance of autonomy and support. 

The humbling responsibility of working with the families through their experiences with cancer was incomparable. The lessons I learned from them are for life and have made me a better human.  


Was a great spot to start off working with, but as the time went on become very toxic. Each department was very clicky and if the camp team joined us it was very obvious a us against them scenario. 

The over all work this foundation does is great but some employees made it a very negative place to come into. Work life balance was non-existent for me unfortunately and eventually left because of the clicky vibe and not being able to have a balance. 

Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta is a very rewarding place to work. You get to help children affected by cancer thrive. Within the staff team, there are some bullies who will stamp on people if they don't have their personal opinion heard. When issues arise blame is often placed rather than coming up with creative solutions. Generally, a good work environment depending on your department, other departments can be toxic.

I greatly enjoyed my time at Kids Cancer Care. I was inspired on a daily basis by the incredible families that we served. During my time at the foundation, I made life-long friends and was offered many opportunities for advancement. I am thankful for all the wonderful people (staff, volunteers and donors) that I had the opportunity to work with over the years.

Kids Cancer Care's cause is just as great as their culture and organization. Coming to work each day and working with incredible humans, while helping children and families was a blast, it was bittersweet to leave. Highly recommend working here.

Summer Student - Best summer job I've had.  The staff are some of the nicest people who not only supported my goals but helped push me beyond them.  I left the summer feeling like I had achieved something for myself but also for the amazing people they serve and help.
