Knights On Guard

They company doesn't train the guards and when the guards make mistake, they will replace them the very next day. The don't support the guards, they don't respect the guards and they demand too much. If someone calls  in sick or don't show up. The company expects you to cover the whole shifts. They will force you to work 16 hour shifts (8 hours your shift and 8 hours the guard that didn't show up), and if you work weekend shifts which are 12 hours and the relive guard calls in sick (happened to me 2 times in 6 months), you can a work 24 hours shift, and that's not even the worst part. If you end up in a building with  a supervisor that doesn't like you, he/she can make up rules on the spot just for you, and when you let company know about it, they will schedule a meeting with you and supervisor and will remind you that you are just and guard and you have to suck it or you can leave.  There is an option to change your site but it can take minimum of three months to do it and during the supervisor will make sure that you get kicked out and the company will be more than happy to do that.  

Since I have been working here I have never gotten a fixed bi-weekly work schedule. Every other week they change your schedule expecting you to revolve your life around work. KOG expects you to work for them like a dog and not even get a raise in return for your hard work. Their head office is filled with nice luxury cars and they definitely underpay all their security guards. Any good review you see on this page is solely written so people can apply for a job here because the management is highly understaffed. The turn over rate is ridiculous as I have seen 3 field managers quit within half a year. If you pick up an extra shift that they say will only be a couple hours be prepared to stay for double the time because the management is very poorly organized and do not care about your time. Please work for any other security company besides KOG if you value your time and your pay. Don't be a slave to a company that is constantly watching over you and will never give you a day off even if a relative passes away.

Friendly colleagues and occupants. Loved working for the condo great tenants, friendly staff members. Clean working environment. I Liked the diversity of the job everyday was different. My job duties revolved around protecting  the property. I Secured the premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
I patrolled the site inside/ outside underground parking. Checked the roof tops, board rooms, pool area, fitness area, lockers, water leaks, planned fire drills.I would prevent risks and deter crime, watch out for looming danger, and report any crime they may encounter.
The hardest part of the job was patrolling the grounds outdoors during a winter storm or other compromising weather.

A typical day usually involves a lot of standing, and outdoor work in various weather conditions, while working with a team in order to meet the expectations of the client. Working here you learn how to communicate with the public, and deal with a variety of concerns and conflicts. The people I work with are easy going, and that makes it easy to talk to them if I am unsure about anything with on duty. The hardest part of a typical day is usually dealing with sore feet, although sometimes a problem will arise that requires immediate attention. The most enjoyable part of a typical day is being able to work outside with fellow coworkers and the public.

Great company to be a part of. They help you gain your experience. They call and ask if you want to work at a certain place which is great again to gain experienve.
They hire people and dispatch them where needed. I work at Primo Foods. I usually work a 4pm- 12am Shift.
I am sometimes asked to work at different facilities and events. During my shift I am usually watching the CCTV and doing internal and external patrols. I log everything in. If anything is unusal or anything happens all is noted. I report to the on duty supervisor should anything occur. I log in when new the workers shifts change.
I learned a great deal with this company. I have learned a great deal of responsibility. It has taught me to always be on guard and always to be alert.
Co-workers are great. The staff is great there.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good hours that’s only thing what matters to me as of now. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing is stressful . I work as concierge. It’s kind of white collar job. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great environment there is nothing to work at company office. You basically work at different condos and can make friends and have fun while helping residents.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You don’t get tired much as you just have to sit through your shift . 99% of the time + a paid break 30 minutes or more  , depends on various factors. Critical thinking is needed when there is an emergency.

They just want to use you to cover the shifts. They would hire you full time right the way to cover some shifts. When you are not needed, they give you less then 20hrs for a full time employee. And they will expect you to be on-call 24/7 to cover their shifts. They don't even bother to ask you first but just add them right into your schedule a few hours before the shift begin. And they will call you into the morning all the time after giving you night shifts when you are sleeping. If you have a car, prepare to cover shifts that are so far away that you would be losing gas money.

Do not know about others but to me KOG was an awesome company to work with. Its been almost 9 months since I joined them and was able to be a Guard at one of the most prestigious sites in Toronto.
Management do care about the employees and well appreciate the hard work. The last moment changes are understandable as this industry is like that. 
We are humans, we may make mistakes.
I had to turn up for a shift even when I was super sick, but the dispatch guy checked my status every hour and even asked the mobile supervisor to bring coffee and snacks for me late night. I admire them and of course my co-workers who are super cool and friendly.
 
I would suggest this company for sure!

typical day at work is moments when is very quiet and anytime around noon its full on crazy with calls, people walking in for interview, plus people that are scheduled for interviews, then you have t he walkie talkie to deal with plus the phone yet helping staff with other stuff.

out of a 8hr day worked you don't get to have or take lunch and just to take a 15min break you have to rush and eat meaning you cant really moved from your desk plus many more things.

to work there you'd better be prepared

I have been working in the security industry for 10 years and KOG for over 3 years. I started with KOG in a patrol position took all the training courses and was promoted to a concierge guard. After about a year I was offered the opportunity to take their supervisor course. After I passed the course, I was offered a supervisor position. Now a lead a team of 15 guards in a beautiful building.   

Working at KOG has been an amazing opportunity and I hope to continue working hard and making my way up into management.
