The Calgary office is very small and only consists of a total of 4 people. The life/work balance was OK. And I loved the actual job and what I was doing/learning. The Director was barely ever there and was pretty oblivious of the work culture. The Controller was a micro-manager and made me feel stupid while training. She was not a good trainer and even lied right to my face. I believe I was set-up to fail. The expectations were set too high. I was made to feel like if I didn't get it the first time, then "you are dumb". I didn't feel like I was part of the Team. And the harder I tried, the more it fell apart.  I did enjoy that the the dress code was work casual and I could wear jeans every day. The building seemed secure and the lunch room was kept pretty clean. 

Komat was a great place to work to pick up any number of essential and valuable skills. Here you'll learn to operate heavy machinery and drive on ice roads. A long with a wealth of knowledge of dealing with diesel engines in a winter climate.
 There is a great deal of uncertainty in the oil field industry but that is a constant problem in the industry.
Typical day consists of maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.
Hardest part of the job is dealing with the environment in winter.
Most enjoyable part of the job is learning and the pay.

A lot of time away from home but great opportunity to make a great salary.
Typical day has you wake up get dressed ind your gear and show up 2 work site. you then talk to your counterpart and talk about any information that needs to be passed along from the shift previous and you take over from them. a roughneck maintains the work equipment when possible and aids in operation of the drilling by lubrication of the pipes and assisting the driller with tripping in and out of drill pipe

Basically no schedule, zero work/life balance. These guys couldn't care less about you, and care even less about paying you properly.
Most of the iron is garbage, and most of the trucks will fail a pretrip miserably if you do it properly.  They could care less about fixing anything.
If you have zero experience, and want a job.... this is probably the place for you.

Great company to work for they pay for travel, wages that’ll make you want to stay there. Safety is key and will train and be patient with you and help you understand and explain it in a way everyone will. Great guys to work for a few young guys but mostly experienced guys who will tell you how to do your job and do it safely

12 hour shifts, driving vac and water truck between sights. Gained more experience driving on ice roads, co-workers worked well together.

Small company, personal atmosphere, and top notch employees made this a great company to work for. Hours are long and require hard work but what job doesn't in Alberta's oil patch.

owner playes head games, pretends to care. would have been a good place to work but between him and zero schedule it was very hard to stay happy and feel good about anything.

Working for Komat changed my life in a very positive way. It's a small company and if you stick around, they'll treat you like family. I'd highly recommend this employer.

I got hired through a Kijiji ad I had replied to and was immediately hired on the spot due to my past work experience. Was an awesome fun place to work.
