This job was located at a nearly 100 year old paper mill in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The 5 man paper machine crew was responsible for keeping the machine running in correct order as well as moving the end product along the line to be shipped. When I was introduced to this job, I had to learn the process and job in a very short amount of time due to a shortage of workers. The paper making crew had to work together in blistering temperatures and cover many jobs which tested everyone's skills and abilities every day. I never left a shift without learning something new and this is something about the job I am thankful for. Most days required extremely physical work and breaks were rare which was certainly the hardest part of this job. The most enjoyable part of this job are all the new things I learned and carried with me everyday. A day in the life at Corner Brook Pulp and Paper felt like it was 50 years in the past and I would not trade this experience for anything.

This was a contract job for 6 months, which got extended for another 2 months. This was for working a Production Worker position. It's fast paced when the machines are working properly. Communication is one of the most important keys in this job. I didn't learn everything from the manager as I was thrown into the job right away and machine operators are the ones you learn from. It was also rotating shifts every two weeks, which was decent for me. Workplace is a mix of temporary and full-time employees. Most people within the company are friendly, but I also some favoritism which is a red alert for me. I did see a few times during an afternoon shift that one of the temporary workers I was working with, literally sat down and slept; no one said anything at all when there are things that person could have done instead of sleeping. Overall, it is a decent company to work for. Just be mindful of your belongings.

The workers are the only reason Kruger stands. as a worker your treated like garbage from the management team. they change their plans so much and don't take responsibility. barely trained, only the teams your with will help you out.
Managament/Human resources need to be "cleaned out"
even when let go their soo cheap even though the company makes soo much money a year.... 
huge disapointment to work for this company.
its sad that you could put some many years as an operator or 2nd man, but get treated the worst. the operator and 2nd man should be treated with top respect. this is why you see salot of the older workers step down to lower positions....
worse company to work for

It was a 9-5 desk job sitting in front of two computer screens, but I learner a lot about renewable energy and it's constraints. The hardest part was the monday to friday routine that became stale after a few weeks, but I work in the same room as two other interns which helped with morale. My boss led by example and the workplace culture is one that should be copied elsewhere. The cafeteria meals were not expensive and the food was different every day, we had access to a gym free of charge whenever we wanted including showers, physical activity classes were organized and paid for by the company and table tennis and foosball tables were at our disposition.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pay is ok. Not much overtime. Benefits are good. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the racist senior guys who even give you a hard time when you do the right thing

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's tolerable. Mostly hot especially during the summer and even in winter. The have a couple events before covid which were ok except for the food

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You just get to work once you reach sometimes after a meeting.  Mostly work on your own. I did shipping work mostly which is pretty straight forward after you get use to it

Corrugated packaging, worked with crews of 3 people. Learned how to set up orders to customers specifications, and make necessary adjustments. Maintain and monitor Quality Control throughout the order. Worked in a team based environment. Excellent management team, very open and receptive to new concepts and ideas. Co-workers are very helpful and hardworking. The hardest part of the job is maintaining good attendance and punctuality. For me once at work the time I put in actually was quite pleasant, and I really enjoyed working for Kruger Inc.

The people are like family. The culture is always improving and the pay is great.

Staying on track with projects

The union and management have a very good working relationship. New employees are welcomed in seamlessly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There are challenges like all places but there are a lot of resources to help you get through

good place to work but the training period was not as lengthy as expected union employees are not as welcoming as everyone preferably communicates with who they have worked with over the years they have been employed at Kruger.

Also the some of the senior operators are not very receptive to training new hires or Take-Off employees.

But overall it is a great place to work if you are used to doing production/packaging line duties and constant twisting and turning, also if you are an individual who enjoys working in Hot sweaty environments.
