The nursing teams were fantastic. The PABs were fantastic. The admin and clerical support staff, with only a handful of exceptions,  are generally ignorant, time-wasting, gossipy ingrates who do only the bare minimum and dump extra work and their bad tempers on the temp and on-call staff.  You'll work with a gang of bullies and unionized slackers who lack basic manners and speak rudely to everyone from colleagues to sick patients. If you're English-speaking, you'll get ostracized by the separatist gangs. 

Fake sick call-ins are the norm, slacking off is the norm, finger-pointing is the norm. Most workers spend their days counting down to their retirement and blaming others for their incompetence.  You can't effect any meaningful change there; the unionized nose-pickers don't care and management is too self-absorbed, short-sighted and usually on vacation or some paid sick leave or another to care. (a quick look at their Facebook photos will reveal that gambling in Vegas or lying on a beach in Cuba is apparently the best remedy to cure what ails them)

Pay is just average considering a huge chunk of it goes to useless union dues. 

You will get little to no training, You'll be thrown into different roles and be expected to psychically divine how to do every task without being shown. If they don't like you, be prepared for malicious gossip, character assassinations, exclusions from activities and general bullying. Run away as fast as you can. Not every hospital is run so poorly nor employs the masses of self-entitled, unskilled riffraff of that this one does.

Good job for employees who want to slack off... But for those who take pride in their work - run. You will never be rewarded, you get the same annual 30 cent raise as everyone else, and there are no opportunities for promotions, unless you are a nurse. Management in most departments for administration and human resources will always outsource for top roles. So you will be stuck in the same position, with growing responsibilities but not a growing paycheck. The only added benefit is from the overtime availability. However, it means 16hour days, and often without good seniority, you won't get called for it. 
Most importantly, without an actual post - which are not always easy to come by depending on the department you work in - most banks won't lend to you, you don't have insurance, you don't have paid sick days and you don't have paid holidays, even though you work full time. 

A typical day at work would be:

Bring breakfasts to patients
Start hygiene on patients, like showers, bed baths
and in between go pick up patients after them having appointments downstairs and bring patients also to their appointments.  Bring lunch to patients, finish any baths or hygiene on patients.  We'd also move patients from one room to another.  Set up special equipment, see that patients are happy and taken care of.

There was shortage of staff especially PAB's like myself. 

I was always on the run and never stop from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Not at all what it seems. If you work in administration, you'll come to know that the average clerk is irresponsible and doesn't work a tiny bit more than is required for them to maintain their ironclad job security. 

Not everyone is like this at the lakeshore, there are definitely heroes and those who go far beyond the call of duty, but it's just not healthy mentally for someone who doesn't know the difference between private and public sector jobs.

I've been working in LGH for a couple of years in the OR. Overall very BAD experience. Management on a very low level. If you are not a friend with the manager you work as a slave. They don't respect working hours. Very often refuse to pay "small" overtimes (15-20 min). Very stressful environment. If you are new you work all day long in the worst room. If you are with 10 years experience you chose where to work (always the easiest room) and you can take a break whenever you want. 
The main problem is that even the union can't deal with this manager.

Start shift with report on patients from previous RN. 

Develop a workplan for the team which consist of an RN an LPN and PAB. 

Assess patients, attend to their needs and concerns 

work together with LPN to give out medications

Working in an environment that is demanding and requires mature and calm interactions with patients. 
Important to document correctly file used by ER medical staff
Can be exhausting at times

During my five year career in the Lakeshore, I have gained experience in Post-Operative and Pre-Operative surgery, medicine and emergency room. I have grown as a nurse and as an individual and find it is time to diversify my field of practice and try a new area of nursing.

I worked there part time and was able to learn how the sanitation facilities (dishwasher) works in professional settings. With working in a hospital there are things you have to remember to do. Such as using antiseptic gel after handling anything unsanitary.

Nice environment but budget is always an issue. Everyone on the floors automatic response to getting stuff done is "that's not my job". It gets frustrating. But some staff really care about what they do but often those people burnout.
