I just started trucking and this is my first company so take that with a grain of salt. Job can be somewhat hard work (Climbing up and down truck, straping down tarp/pulling tarp, sweeping) With that being said dispatchers are very good at working with your schedule and how hard you want to work. Some people will complain about low income but aren't willing to work. If you work you will be compensated and make good money. As I stated this is my firs year with the company and truckin in general and I started out really slow learning the ropes and gradually getting into this and I should make 6 figures this year. Management is very good and try to help you with everything and very understanding. You leave on Sundays if you want good pays but not mandatory at all. If your feeling worn out you can get some shorter trips and have an easy week whenever needed. Home couple times a week and weekends.
Cons- No RRSP matching
Details could be better for dispatched trips

Team oriented atmosphere.
Fellow drivers are always available to help with questions and helpful advice.
Dispatch is very flexible and fair.
Management is very approachable. 
The Shop is the best i have ever experienced and all the equipment is incredibly well maintained. 
Driver Services department goes above and beyond to help you through issues or for extra training.
All tools, equipment and supplies needed are provided at no cost.
Excellent benefits including disability insurance and RRSP matching pension.
Scheduling is very flexible as well, you pretty much decide when you want to work and how much.  Some drivers make $145000 a year, others make $60000.  Work as hard as you want.
All equipment is dedicated too.
This company gets it.  Finally there is a place to work where my efforts are appreciated and I am treated like a human. 




I’ve worked at Laidlaw for 5 years, and I am so grateful I was hired! This culture is so positive caring and so many people have gone out of their way to help me grow and learn. 
The leadership puts in an incredible amount of effort to listen to employees. The work-life balance is great!

If I could give management a negative star review I would. They have no clue how to manage staff, they go through shop managers more than I’ve seen with any other company. The minute someone tries to implement a positive change they fire them. It’s the worst toxic work environment I’ve ever experienced. If you value your self worth and have a good work ethic, don’t waste your time here. Also they will scam you hours wherever they can. 

Overall I enjoyed my time with Laidlaw. I was a Lease operator with them and with the exception of a particular dispatcher things went very smoothly. Admin staff was always good at helping me in areas of service, permitts and safety. I believe that a drivers experience at a transportation employer is dependent on admin employees. 
 Overall my experience there was very good.

Pay is at industry standards for by the mile pay. When there are problems, it seems that the driver is always at fault. Dispatchers favour one driver over another and this WILL affect your pay since 1 dispatcher gets all the ‘good’ runs and not so much for the other. Some drivers are happy with $50K a year while others make $95K +. It is very difficult to get the the $90K+ pay rate. 

Pros: 
People are friendly and helpful
Process is efficient know what were doing
Possibility of remote (this was during the Pandemic)
No over time (I didnt have any at least :))
RRSP matching

Cons:
Salary is a little low
Don't expect increases or cost of living adjustment, even for above and beyond work


I find theres alot of favoritism to certain drivers..jobs are offered to managers friends 1st seems some drivers never get asked to do certain jobs  others are forced to do.some drivers only go so far from home too

I worked here to 3 years and its the best company i worked with till yet. Despachers are good with driver, no forcing by boss, fair pay and maintenance is good on the equipments. 

I was recruited to Laidlaw were I received no training and lots of pressure. They have a core group everyone else doesn't matter. Don't pay bereavement still fighting for pay.
