The job isn’t paid enough for the responsibility you have as transporting passengers in the bus. Other company pay better that’s why drivers are leaving,not always you find support from your office. Lots of time unpaid,no sick days ,no benefits.
Hourly rate it is lower than other companies in the industry, in rest all are the same  not paying for time consuming beside your driving time (route), late time to school for traffic reason or not correctly timing the stops or time because your bus broke down,called in the office you don’t get paid,time to write report / behaviour slips and no one gets paid for that,spend time writing email for free ,no compensation what so ever. Winter …going in much earlier to start the bus or leaving earlier to get in time to your stopes,that’s another voluntary time,you get only “thanks and you guys done a good job today” With those you can’t pay your bills.
Bottom lines ,bus drivers should be better paid,get some sick days and been compensated for the extra time. Most of the time they don’t pay correctly neither for your route time…every day minutes are cut from your driving time as pay time do not match with school board time allocated for that route .they think it’s only 3 min in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon but when you add those in the week or months are your hard working time that it’s unpaid. They all practice this and if you ask they will find excuses. If you are late in the daily base 5-7 min ,instead to fix the time  they preferred to not adjust the time because that adjustments comes with extra money in your pay cheque. No bonus what so ever except $25 gift card for Christmas.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, always willing to help. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I've never found working at landmark to be stressful. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friend and accommodating. Respectful and professional people working at the office.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Make my call in  1hr prior to scheduled start time to let the dispatch office know I'm coming in. Arrive at bus...do my pre-trip inspection of the bus to ensure the bus is in safe working order before I start my route. 

Greetings every student with a pleasant smile. My typical greeting is "welcome to the magic school bus". That never fails to put a smile on the student's and parent's face. 
That lets them right away that my bus is a friendly and safe environment. Quite often, after picking up my last student and we are heading to the drop off school, I'll give the kids a riddle to solve. Simple playful ridlles. After the first day, they would ask for a riddle everyday after. Most of the time I'd have one ready. That stimulate their thinking and at same time make the ride to school very pleasant and enjoyable.

I've never had a rude or disrespectful student on my bus during my five years driving a school bus. Driving the school bus has always been a pleasant experience for me.

What is the best part of working at the company: 
Fellow workers and passengers, Early start and done early to do what ever I want.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company:
Management not forwarding  information when they need to. Unappreciated and disrespectful of their employees and under paid. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company:
It's stressful and demanding  from upper management regardless of how employee feels.

What is a typical day like for you at the company:
I feel there is no support from management or Mechanics. It's a sink or swim company. The office like to gossip about their employees and always looking to put the blame on someone.

What you believe and learned from the company:
There is no seniority, no promotion, or get recognized of the hard work that you do for them. The company thinks of you as a number, a body in a seat. if you work hard at your job and proved that your a reliable employee everyday; it should count for something. Maybe it was years ago, but not now.









I don't have any real complaints about working for this company. If I have an issue with students, they are quick to respond.  If there is an issue with the bus after I leave the bus yard, they are quick to respond to that as well. 
They provide a couple of driver appreciation breakfasts a year, year end BBQ, and a gift card at xmas to the drivers. I don't spend much time in the drivers room, but when I have, there is a lot of talking, laughing and friendly banter going on.
 My only complaint is that I have to be up at 4:15 for this job, and in January, that isn't pleasant, but it is the nature of the beast.  I think the wage could be better, with the amount of responsibility we have transporting supposedly "Precious Cargo". definitely not a living wage, so having to try to find a second job which at my age is difficult. BUT, if you have a spouse, then I would definitely recommend driving.

Poor support, unpaid holidays, no medical insurance, inability to call in sick (you’re harassed into coming to work while sick)

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not very pleasant. There’s a feeling of being a lower class employee with not much importance to the company. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
During the winter you start in the dark and cold (about 630 am) and struggle to get your bus cleared of snow.  You do a walk around mechanical check and check under the hood. You then leave to do your route. You return about 930 and leave until about 2 pm. You then begin the picking up and returning the children home from their respective schools. Back to the yard around 5 - 530.

Most enjoyable part of working at Landmark would definitely be the children you drive! It is wonderful to watch them grow and to build bonds with most! 
It is also wonderful being off on school holidays when you have children at home!
Hardest part would be the office staff don’t listen to any safety concerns, they refuse to properly manage and fix buses so there is constantly problems! They let the potholes get so massive your personal vehicles get damaged as your only aloud to go one way through the yard! The pay is definitely not the best for the amount of work that is expected! 
One thing that would make a huge improvement would be assigned parking but again asking the office to put in a little bit of work is like pulling teeth! 

Management favorites their Friends.  The school buses you drive constantly need repairs. Garage does not want to spend money to fix properly. Be prepared to drive with check engine lights always on. Management has difficulty with payroll, must check bi-weekly and argue with office to get corrections made and your money paid. Then wait another 2 weeks to see if correction was made. Reception is unprofessional and lazy always eating at the desk. Bathrooms are filthy and never have soap. Worse than a roadside gas station. Definitely check all bus companies before signing up here wage is $20.50 per hour other companies paying $23 an hour and more.

Only the popular drivers get extra opportunities for income, such as Charters.  Was always driving on average 1+ hours a day on my own time due to traffic delays or weather. 

I really enjoyed driving my kids to school and home again, but many times their lives were put at risk due to weather, especially when snow advisories were announced the night before. I took my time to ensure their safety, parents understood, but continual office conflicts. They state An Open Door Policy, but the door remained closed and locked. Any conflict and be prepared to find another job. Managent is not "with you from beginning to end" unless they're end means termination.

the techs are good at teaching, its like working at a private school.  Its good for apprentices and S mechanics  that want to advance in safety and regulations.

Organization within the shop &  juggling between Management and the drivers

The lighting is quite gloomy however,

culturally as a technician you learn the process & advancement of a S through T
