Honestly, little kickers used to be alright when I first started. Then I started meeting the staff and managers and felt like it was a unprofessional company. First off during the summer months you will be forced to work in unsafe weather conditions that no child should be playing in, let alone you being outside coaching for. Even if the smoke is extremely bad as it has been these recent years they will rarely cancel anything. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the kids but even then some locations have some out of control kids that WILL make your job a lot harder even with the experience you have. On top of that many parents will blame you for management decisions and it will eventually take a toll on your well-being and overall performance as you will get complaints for the lesson plans that you did not make.

On top of all that, many of my co-workers seem to either always be in a bad mood or just a rude person overall, they treat myself like garbage and then take it out on the kids sometimes when they just wanna play. It is very unprofessional when this happens and yet no disciplinary actions ever take place, this also includes many staff members constantly needing shifts covered or just no-show to their shift. It becomes a major issue and sometimes you will end up with only one assistant for sometimes 20+ kids in a class. Additionally, if they become overstaffed they will just refuse to give some coaches shifts, especially those who are great assistants will end up receiving no shifts and then get taken over by those management has favoritism for, this has happened many times in my duration at the company. Favoritism is rampant throughout the company, and as of recent has just given me lost hope for working with certain staff, as we most of the time have no choice in who we work with, especially when converting from outdoor to indoor and vice-versa.

The lesson plans should be made by the leads, many times I have found kids bored of certain games especially as of late, yet even with the feedback we provide many of the lessons are reused and seem to not even be soccer-related most of the time, especially for some classes who have more advanced kids, it would be nice for us to make them, as we know our classes better than management it seems. Will make a lot of promises then provide to break them or just make it seem like they never said that. On top of this leads having to haul around equipment does not seem like the pay raise they receive is justified, especially if you have to haul it from half-way across the city. You will get check-ins every once in a while by the coaching manager but usually they just stand there and stare and it will creep the parents and kids out. Have had complaints from parents about recent check-ins. Management seems extremely negative most of the time, and shuts down any ideas leads may have, especially when it comes to lesson plans, as we are no longer allowed to change any of the games up, even if they are boring for our classes.

Hours are very few and far between, especially when dealing with school hours as many classes start very early evening and may be half-way across the city from you. Many locations given to you will be far most of the time as many locations are given to those who are favored by the company, which has lead to many kids switching classes due to poor coaching and lack of discipline on coaches who act unprofessional and out of line.

We coach children ages 18 months to 7 years in soccer, but it is so much more than soccer. We help them develop gross and fine motor skill as well as basic and imperative everyday knowledge. The children are all engaged in the activity (classes are generally 45 minutes). Coaches are there to ensure all the children are participating and having fun while doing it. As coaches we implement different strategies for each child to keep them engaged and excited about the sport and exercise. The class begins with a warm up game, we then move on to a stretching exercise, and a game using the soccer ball, and finally we prepare a game incorporating the soccer ball and scoring, we also sometimes ask parents to play in the game (i.e. the child shoots the ball on the net with the parent playing goalie) to encourage interaction and a fun game that the family can take part in.

The work environment here is very casual, and working with the kids can be quite enriching. I have learned a lot in terms of managing environments with up to 20 children, managing expectations of parents, and delivering age-appropriate lessons.

The workplace culture is quite relaxed and friendly. The management can sometimes be a bit absent or inattentive, but overall they get the job done.

The hardest part of the job can sometimes be just working with colleagues who are not receptive, or working with a challenging group of kids with no supervisor present. Other than that, it is not a difficult job. And the children do make it better.

A typical day at work consists of Getting to work at 8:30 am and setting up the nets and balls. then at 9 the first class starts. I've learned to be positive all the time and to be super energetic so it passes on to the kids. The hardest part of the job is when a child doesnt wanna play the games and we have to find a way to get them involved through challenging them to a race or see who can finish he drill faster then coach, or even just playing the game with them can keep them involved, but since I have worked there I have gotten a lot better at it. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the kdis faces light up when they score a goal or when you make them laugh and that's what its all about. After 12:30 the last class ends, myself and the staff then have to put the equipment away and leave around 12:45pm.

Teaching children soccer in a fun environment.  Encouraging children with the building blocks to enjoy a lifetime of fitness in sport. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being enthusiastic when you don’t feel like it. Your attitude will affect the class though so it’s good to start with a positive attitude. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun-the kids love the classes , the parents are friendly, the supervisors are amazing. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up at the field in full uniform. Meet with whoever has the equipment and help carry it. Set up the space. Great the kickers and families. Coach while using a lesson plan with a new theme every week.

Pretty easy as an assistant coach, you are just setting up the drills in time for the lead coach to explain it and demo it for the kids and then just making sure the kids are listening to the lead coach and encouraging them. Its pretty fun and gets you up on your feet a lot, always running around even playing soccer games with the older classes. Only downside would be maybe hard to get a sick day, as sometimes they dont have someone to fill in for you. But they are very accommodating, and will try their best to find someone. When i was sick they couldn't find anyone to fill in and apologized and said i can just take it easy and sit down after setting up the cones for drills, instead of running around helping a lot. Would definitely recommend the job to highschool students looking for an fun, easy part time job.

Little Kickers was wonderful. I developed and led coaching sessions for kids between the ages of eighteen months to seven years. Provided a positive and stimulating coaching environment to promote and improve cognitive abilities and soccer skills. As a mentor coach, I attended and supervised coaching sessions to evaluate coaches based on specific criteria. Helped determine their coaching abilities and provide constructive feedback in order to help improve their skills. Helped make weekly schedules based on coaches availability and ability.

LK was a rewarding job! That being said, there wasn't much flexibility and managment had very high expectations for little compensation. For example, management made you memorize drills/games to do with the kids each week (up to 20 different games each week).  It was mentally exhausting and stessful as all of the drills/games changed each week and I had to memorize them all over again. I think it would have been more enjoyable (and a lot less stressful)  if coaches were able to design their own drills/games. The job does have good hours though for those still in school!

Unorganized work environment and expectations that you can give up all of your weekends for 3 hour shifts.

Commute to the location, hope the equipment person is there, set up, do the lesson, pack up, and go home.

Little Kickers is a fun work environment and a great first or side job.

Throughout my time here i had positive expirences. In this job you can expect pretty flexable hours, friendly staff, a decent wage, and a fun fast paced work environment.

My only critisism is that the managment (although kind and very helpful)  can sometimes struggle to communicate things like paydays and have announced and promised things that were never furfilled.
