Depending on your department and shift, you might have a better day than some. Overall, every department is understaffed and each person is doing the work for 2 or 3 people when on the afternoon shift. Higher up management expects too much from employees and are quick to write you up for the smallest mistakes. It's next to impossible to do your job in a timely and efficient manner when you're constantly dealing with being yelled at in person, on the phone, or via email by angry truck drivers, clients or trucking companies for their shipments not being done in time (which is a result of being understaffed). The afternoon shift is barely staffed while the day shift is usually fully staffed. In my experience, you are forced to work the busiest shift, completely alone, while the day shift has 4 or 5 people on hand. Due to working alone and having no one to cover you, you can expect your breaks to be delayed by hours some nights, as you get caught up on the phone or with driver's in the office and unable to leave. Managers higher up in the company (in the head office) don't seem to realize they are working their employees like mules, and perhaps that is why mistakes are being made. Many managers and supervisors I've dealt with from the company in many of the different locations were rude. There is a lack of training and staff are forced to work on a busy shift by themselves with no one to ask questions. Overall, the lower level employees are a joy to work with and make the job bearable, but as more employees leave the company and are not replaced, stress levels rise and conflicts start.

There were nice amenities, like a gym and free coffee. The benefits were decent, and the building was very well kept.

The employees were mostly friendly; abit uninspired for the majority, but this is because moving up was incredibly difficult (if not impossible) and the workload was exhaustive most of the time. 

The company didn't seem to know how to control the overwhelming amount of new clients they had picked up and drivers/dispatchers were always calling in- waiting 10 minutes to even 60+ minutes to get a hold of our center (we were grossly understaffed, and many were grossly under-trained).

Morale became very low here, and attempts to lift spirits were shut down by upper management. Events such as BBQs, group outings and the like were not supported by the company and were often denied. Despite us having a Social Committee formed during my employment there, no funds or support was given to make the committee truly effective.

Bad management actually led to the firing of the VP of the company, which I'm sure is very telling. In the end, our department was outsourced to the Philippines.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Support for sales reps from consulting and sharing industry knowledge . Guidance , direction was very clear and helpful. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
KPI micro management for weekly cold calling, # of appointments, meetings and proposals. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Company over all is good , each team / department had good commerodery and healthy competition.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy with multitasking-cold calls, booking mtgs , proposal preparation and presentations. Hunting for new business , follow up to close business and service clients, deal with client and service issues. Deal with account setups for A-Z and AP and AR department. Follow up on contracts and consulting projects. Keep on top of rules, regulations and industry and worldly news and events to relay to clients and prospects, send out marketing campaigns.

Code invoices from branches across Canada, reconciled northbound freight collect charges utilizing freight matching register, prepare memos for branch offices, both internal and external, for billing discrepancies.

Learned how to handle a variety of general office duties, including preparing and organizing mail and files so kept up-to-date.

Management style organized on department basis.

Workplace culture is collaborative to assist other co-workers but also controlled on an individual basis for specific customer file folders.

Hardest part of the job is reconciling and approving billings when 
shipment not entered correctly into system. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is dealing with co-workers in 
the department whenever assistance needed.

My typical day at work was first to print off all the necessary
reports for management, brokers, cashier's and other custom
office ant to distribute them accordingly. My main priority was to
key in broker's and business owners documents for their importing
and exporting of goods. These had to be printed off and I had to
correct any errors. (Example: brokers used wrong tariff codes,
GST etc.)
My co-workers were very pleasant and a joy to work with.
The hardest part of the job was when I first started as I had no
knowledge of Canada Border Services.
The most enjoyable part was taking my own initiative and learning
the procedures required and all the other aspects of Customs.
I gained knowledge and was able to serve all the clients in a
fast and efficient way. I went far and beyond what was expected
of me, and I am proud of what I was able to accomplish and the excellent service I was able deliver to all my clients and management.

1. My typical day at work depends on the e-mails I receive. Based on them, I create 
a schedule for the day, taking into account different processes or meetings. After work, I always try to expand my knowledge by participating in various courses.
2. Over the past three months, I have learned a lot about customs duties, taxes and transportation.
3. Management at Livingston is of a very high standard, from the team structure to the human resources department.
4. The atmosphere in the office is definitely irreplaceable, and I enjoy every day I spend there.
5. The most difficult part of the job is learning a new process from scratch.
6. But learning it gives the greatest satisfaction.

Great job and company to get a wide variety of experience to build up your skills and resume .
Great co-workers to learn and grow with

But not much room for financial and professional growth considering the below market salaries and promotions they offer. 

My recommendation is get your experience and get out  .
Don’t wait for something that isn’t going to come 

They do not offer competitive compensation despite the company trying to make you think otherwise.

5 years experience of day to day u with project manager and not a single good luck or call goodbye.
Just a condescending good luck I hope you think your new job is what you think it is message.

Was not appreciated for the variety and quality of work provided.

A typical day included taking inbound calls to help customers with regards to importing their vehicle from the U.S. into Canada. Providing information on process and procedures as well as completing their file to ensure the vehicle is admissible.

I learned the entire process on how to import your vehicle into Canada (Federal Gov. regulations) and how to multitask and stay very organized. 

Management was a good group that lead from behind the scenes and the co-workers were hard working. 

The hardest part of the job was staying organized and multitasking (completing 3-5 files at a time while taking inbound calls) but helping importers get their vehicles into Canada with minimal hassle was very rewarding.

Each day is a day that I want to go to work. Very enjoyable as I am able to help our clients get their goods imported into Canada in a timely manner.  I love being able to help carriers (drivers) not get held up if at all possible.  Will go out of my way often to stay beyond my shift to make sure that this happens. If for any reason, there is a problem then I will let carriers and dispatchers know if at all possible.
My co-workers are wonderful to work with. I get along with everyone and will help other teams and branches if I can.
All through my career, Management has been very hands on and have been able to voice my concerns about anything that might come up.
The most enjoyable part of my job - being client focused and getting their goods to them without any hitches.

I will say this, there is always a lot of work to do here. However, it is a job so that could be as intended. But the people are great! Teammates actually willing to help one another learn and achieve goals. No matter how many questions are asked, they are answered thoroughly. Yes, I personally wish the pay was a bit more, but its not bad. The team that you work with is makes up for it. I can't tell you how many times I have been with a team that does not want to help a teammate or just work in general. This team does and it's great!
