MARBLE SLAB

A typical day at Marble slab was often busy, considering where it was located. I gained enjoyment from most busy hours since there was always something to do during those times. It also helped me learn to move quicker without making mistakes on customers orders or upsetting my boss. The management was often kind to me and all my co-workers, rewarding good behavior and often praising when one of the workers would go out of their way to help out and do more than what was told. Which in return, had every worker doing their best to their potential. My supervisors were often kind as well, though one was never fond of me. I never let that get to me because no matter where you go someone will always have something against you and that shouldn't interfere with your professional life. That is my opinion and what I have learned at least. My co-workers were very productive and when I first started, they helped me through any bit I found confusing. The hardest thing about the job was delivering ice cream cakes around the mall. Often the customers would write down the wrong room in one of the parks and I would scurry around the area trying to waste as little time I could and not get in trouble. The best thing about the job was serving each customer and landing a smile on their face with each order I took and each smile I welcomed them with.

Working at Marble Slab Creamery was an amazing experience for me because it was a diverse environment which allows employees of all backgrounds and abilities to feel welcome, it allowed me to work on my customer service skills, it taught me how to effectively manage my time and how to converse with customers in a fun way that makes them feel valued, and continuing my competency of working with the general public. The hardest part of the job for me would be when holidays or other major events happen in the vicinity happen and we get an overwhelming surge of customers wanting our products, but we manage by splitting ourselves to handle a certain amount of customers per person so we can serve more groups of people in a shorter period of time. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was communicating with the customers and allowing them to enjoy themselves while I serve them, and using my critical thinking skills that I have obtained through years of experience to help me problem solve.

-A typical day would be serving ice cream, re-stalking mixins, ice cream, cups, spoons, cones, and napkins. It also includes doing dishes, sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, and cleaning the washrooms.
-Customer service skills are learned as well as how to work with a team and to problem solve.
-Management is a bit messy with scheduling and for people who need part-time. 
-A very positive workplace.
-The hardest part of the job is how busy it gets in the summer along with the program Skip the Dishes ordering online.
- The most enjoyable part of the job is eating the ice cream.

you are made to work alone late into the night and you receive no breaks because they make you work alone. you are not paid for overtime even though you have to stay and extra hour to get things done. no official contracts either. can do a number on your wrist and can be a pain to work alone when you’re busy and don’t have a chance to sit down because there is no one to relive you/help you. the free ice cream does not make it worth it! you must be able to work very fast to keep up with rushes! i barely lasted a month.

The bosses were rude, I was talked down upon for not knowing how to properly execute certain tasks they expected me to do, yet didnt train me on. I was worked hard and long and then ridiculed for all my imperfections, yet I was expected to work completely on my own with no one else on site. This is not a good job for young adults, it was very cut throat and you need tough skin to deal with this boss. Rude, ignorant, and ungrateful for the work his employees do for him.

A typical day involved decorating cakes, cupcakes, making the ice cream, taking inventory, training new employees, making work schedules, and cleaning. I rapidly excelled to store manager which was the most enjoyable part of the job. Becoming manager allowed me to duplicate myself with work ethics. The work environment was cheerful. Working here gave me an opportunity to experience management duties and build my customer service.

Marble slab is a great job for highschoolers trying to make extra cash on their days off. When it gets busy it gets busy. But if its not in the middle of summer you can expect to be working alone in the warm months that aren't May-August. Quite overwhelming if you are not able to keep up. You must be able to. Inventory was often low because of management not bringing in the mixings. But other than that it is not terrible. It is a job you expect to get minimum wage so you can not expect much.

•	Provide excellent customer service in busy ice cream shop, making the order in a timely manner and leading the customers through the checkout process
•	Ability to multi task and complete multiple orders at a time 
•	Clean work area, customer area, and manage daily tasks
•	Communication and meeting the needs of customers

Often not enough staff per work shift. Very independent due to lack of proper management. Very unsanitary; floors had mold, so dirty they could not be cleaned without professional cleaners.

Flexible with hours, friendly customers and co-workers. Free ice cream each shift.

You learn to work efficiently, as well as get a free ice cream at the end of each shift. You won't go home smelling like kitchen grease; rather, your work clothes end up smelling like freshly baked waffle cones. Shifts do not have breaks, and management can be iffy. Obviously summer there are lots of lineups and customers can be rude.
