Worked here for 4  months as a delivery driver. They are a plumbing company not a logistics company. Every driver and warehouse employee that met in all their locations are disgruntled and annoyed employee's. Large overturn in staff. Horrible horrible management. Logistics team are not in sync with each other so its chaos. Too many people trying to call the shots. Communication is non existent.
  My truck was pre-loaded in a warehouse in Vaughan and brought to me in Burlington. The truck was often loaded backwards meaning the first deliveries to be done where buried at the nose of the truck which often meant you didn't have access to it due to the big heavy items loaded at back of truck. This created a large problems for the time sensitive deliveries. Management unable to fix that ongoing issue for some reason. On several occasion's my truck  was brought to me in Burlington from Vaughan and left for me with an empty gas tank and I was never given a company gas card.I would burrow the gas card of different drivers before they left for their run. That to me is unacceptable. I was never issued 
 a company gas card despite my requests for one. Too often drivers are provided with an incorrect delivery address on packing slips which also poses a problem for their time sensitive deliveries. For example, a delivery address on a packing slip has an address in Niagara Falls in which you arrive at only to find that the delivery was to actually be made at an address in Welland. This happen often. Often you are delivering to constructions sites with a million construction guys all around and you have no idea where or who to deliver to because packing slip has no site contact name and number on it. These are just some of the regular ongoing issues at Marks that their brilliant manager cant seem to rectify.
 Delivery driver position at Marks is a nightmare and the easy to fix ongoing issues that they have all stem from one place and that place is at the top level. It starts at the top and trickles down to chaos and frustration.

I started working for this company in the fall of 2019 as a DZ Driver running out of their Vaughn Distribution Facility. 

My role as a Night Shift Transfer driver had me delivering product internally to several branches including Kitchener, Guelph, Brantford and Burlington, 

I was constructively dismissed during the early stages of Covid (April 2020) after reporting health and safety concerns to the branch manager regarding the cleanliness or lack there of, in the workplace. 

The management team exercises very poor communication skills to it's drivers, and the person responsible for the truck fleet is a hot head who doesn't understand the term 'Preventative Maintenance'. Trucks running over km's for service, poorly maintained, no sense of pride or ownership, if you speak up and say something they will lay you off and just hire someone else. Very high turn over rate for pickers and warehouse staff, poor working atmosphere, low energy, 

The pay is decent with lots of overtime, but to be honest the company is not recommended. The management team does not care about you. I was laid off in the parking lot next to my car, the same day I had a meeting with management to talk about Health and Safety issues. There is a clause in your employment contract which allows them to lay you off at anytime, without consequence. 

Bottom line: Keep looking, do not work for this company,

Your performance is gauged by number of lines pulled per day - one product is one line.  Doesn't matter if you pull thousands of parts if it's the same, it counts as a single line.

These lines are selected by a Lead Hand who assigns orders under direction of the Manager to manipulate your performance statistics.

Expect language barriers and a toxic, hostile work environment.

Safety is non-existent.

There is little organization, the warehouse is a mess, and very few people who work there put in any effort.

What little organizational systems they have make absolutely no sense, and serve only to make pulling product a more difficult task than this already menial job should really entail.

Management was physically absent from the premises about half the time.

They will outright lie to your face.

They have no fire plan.



Most newcomers regret it within 3 weeks. Extremely bad management, dispatch, and even worse H/R. 
The disorganization and miscommunication between branches and head office in kitchener is unmatched, and drivers get put in the middle of it. 
The leasing companies they have their trucks with are worse of the worse. And trying to schedule truck services with management and dispatch is stressful on it self. Cause they prefer to keep you going until they have no choice but to bring the truck in. 
NOT!!! A company I would recommend at all. 

At first glance marks is nice place to work, Management makes you feel like you are important.
As long as you do the deliveries and work 11 hrs.
 'They have nice equipment and co workers are nice,
They will pay higher wage for new employees and give 40cent raise to the employee, making the new employees $3-4 more than employees that are already there, instead of rewarding older employees and treating them like people, drivers leave all the time,
All branches because management doesn't take the time or money to give the workers, you are treated like a number.

It's a place to get your foot in the door and get some work experience but not a place you would want as a long term career.  The pay is uncompetitively low and the benefits are very poor with no prospects of improving. This is true for any position in the company outside of executive level. Also no real prospect for advancement. 

Marks is only suitable for someone fresh out of university looking for their first job.

Always rushed to get orders picked. Most unorganized shifts I've ever seen. I was let go when I tried to help sort things out on our shift. People supposed to loading and picking are on there phones watching videos. Night shift runs behind every night due to lack of lead hand and superior not enforcing rules. There is NO advancement ever. Pay is listed up to $17.00? Not real. You start at $14.00 and stay there

Dont ever consider applying for this job. The branch manager only cares about one thing and that's making HIS BRANCH money. Reluctant to give raises unless you go and complain. He thinks taking people out for dinner once a year covers his obligations for being a decent boss. Dont let this place fool you. They have taken benefits down to a minimum and "restructured". Branch manager is a flat out liar

Dont ever think that management cares about whether you work there or not. This company has taken benefits away and cut staff down to a minimum. They have no desire to create a culture where you feel appreciated at all. It's a joke really and the branch manager in london cant handle any kind of push back whatsoever and is a flat out liar
