This company is beyond old-fashioned and does not care about the good employees. Previous management played favourites and if you weren't you were just another number and they made it known. I was consistently made to come into work when I was sick and I mean I have no voice sick but their favourites were given time off and you would be scheduled to work 6-7 days straight managements reason because I was a "Millenial". I was told to wear more make up more than once. New management was way better but head office stayed the same giving stores high target sales goals when their products consistently had manufacturer defects. Its true PVC and PU are literally plastic but if a customer said it you had to correct them to inform them it's "vegan leather". On the topic of Veganism we were not allowed to bring lunches containing meat or winter jackets containg goose down or fur trim however the owner consistently flaunts brand names on IG that are known to use leathers and furs, kind of backwards if you ask me. Overall this company was one of my least favourite places to work, the sales were extremely high and at times you'd only see 15-30 people during your shift, you are just another number at this company, and they don't even uphold their own values, definitely not worth your time even for minimum wage. 

So, I started off with a very strong and kind mindset. I ended up leaving deteated and felt dragged through the mud.
Constantly told you are being watched by upper management on the CCTV cameras. Also, their bags are made out if PVC, PVB, "apple skin" which is just over priced pulp, and Polyurithane. They say they are eco friendly, but honestly aren't doing the world any favours with how they explain the bag creation process.

When I was first hired and althroughout the season, I was berated with so much information and every bag having its on unique name and collection. We were forced to lie between our teeth and use fancy words like "Vegan" to make customers feel good about buying. When really, the bags are just pretty plastic from over sea landfills which will be thrown away in another 1-5 years depending on how nice you are on your bag. 

Also, I was let go woth no explaination during the season. 
If you are reading this Matt&Nat, I don't understand why you are draining such young talent. Please do better. 

If you are seeking to grow, learn, and diversify your skillset in your professional life, MATT & NAT is certainly not the company for you. 

Managers are unqualified for their roles and have never received any formal training. They verbally harrass and abuse  their employees and fire people without any valid reason - since I started working here (2 months ago), the company has already terminated 6 staff members. This caused me significant stress and to feel uncertain towards my job security on a daily basis. 

The reviews online are all true! From someone who had previously worked here, save yourself the psychological stress and trouble and DO NOT apply to this company.

This job sucked the life out of me. Extremely boring as it's hours of standing there waiting for customers, touching the same bags making sure everything absolutely perfect. I was told we are being watched constantly. You will get in trouble for the most innocent things. I found it very cliquey and hard to connect with co workers but that's just my personal opinion. Very high standards and you basically have to be a puppet and say exactly what they tell you to do. High sales goals for the amount of people that come in. The company isn't as ethical or great as you may think.

The manager is incompetent and often makes mistakes, upper management wants you to go above and beyond for the company and pressures you into working 12 hour shifts. They don’t want to promote from within the company. You’re constantly being watch on the cameras micro manage you. They have a very high turnover because people become unhappy within a few months of working there.

The business is run by a father and his sons. They often hire strong talent, get them to implement tools and processes that benefit them and then terminate the people hired and direct other who can be paid less to so the role. They in turn keep all information gained and utilize tools set in place by the previous employees.

There are pros and cons, but do take it with a grain of salt:

- Co-workers are great but very weird work environment. Everyone is in their bubble and some are not bright. 

- Expect to do a 3-person job if someone leaves. I had to do my own duties plus help my manager and someone else's work that is not in my field. 

- If you want advancement or to go further in your career, don't expect it - false promises.

Overall, wouldn't recommend it if you want to go further in your career. 



This company’s marketing is quite impressive for selling them as a vegan brand. They treat their employees and underpaid factory workers as disposable fuel for their greed. Employees are constantly in fear of losing their underpaying jobs as the owners get rich from killing the environment with this so called “vegan leather”. 
We have to make companies accountable for how they treat people and our environment as they drain the world of resources.

The store is never extremely busy, but pay doesn't really match up to living expenses in the GTA. The corporate office has multiple members from the same family (including the CEO) and the stores are still trying to establish basic procedures I think due to the fact that they are relatively new. Overall I enjoyed the environment within the store and the discount was generous.

Super pushy to make sales, you have a goal of almost $1200 a week when you work part time and management is super hard on you when  can’t remember where something is even after you’ve only been there for a couple days. I hope you enjoy cleaning in the meantime while waiting for your sales to come in. I would have to clean the whole store while my manager just sat their and watched during closing
