Constant pressure from head office, they micromanage while "encouraging autonomy". You should be genuine when interacting with potential students, as long as you being genuine includes copy and pasting what the admissions leader wants you to say. Enrolling students for post secondary shouldn't feel like selling used cars.
Salary wise.. ew. Instructors would be better off working in their industry. Just from browsing other beauty schools they grossly under pay.
Administrative/enrollment positions would be better off at any other college for salary.
This is the only workplace I've ever been in to that I've actually heard a higher up say "everyone is replaceable"
I would disagree, especially in this industry. Building connections with students, being able to run a department and being able to instruct students are not easy skills to replace. But it seems to work for them as long as head office is getting their big pay checks 

A typical day of work will include lesson planning and presentation planning and then a 1.5 hour long lecture. I like to give a variation of teaching styles including auditory, visual and kinaesthetic. 

I learned that education is a never-ending. I would mentor students but I also learned a lot from them. 

Management was always clear with expectations providing syllabus information and resources. 

My co-workers in the faculty were always helpful and great resources as well. 

The hardest part of the job is to find ways to motivate students with different learning styles. I would vary my lectures, provide mentorship activities after class and try and be as available as possible. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is watching a student apply theoretical knowledge into practical experience whether that be workplace skills or group projects.

This educational facility is a complete disaster. If the governing board of education was aware of daily operations the school would lose accreditation without a doubt. I was permanently laid off for finally speaking up for the students who endlessly cried to me about not knowing how to do a basic haircut upon ending of their education. Many were asked to leave early as due to c-19 students were allowed to graduate at 75-85% of their mandatory hours for the program.  I am grateful I am not working there anymore and my health declined drastically due to the ongoing stress from being in such a toxic and unorganized organization.

Poor management and no communication. The general atmosphere of staff interaction is against one another vs being an actual team. Was treated poorly from day 1,  and instead of proper code of conduct was brushed off constantly. In the short time I was there the turnover was crazy basically 1 employee quit/walked out every month. Would never recommend anybody to take a job here.

This company is broken from the top down, my advice would be to steer clear. Head office and management took several serious complaints about fellow staff and simply swept the problem under the rug and pretended nothing was wrong. The pay is well below scale and the environment and culture is toxic. Do yourself and your mental health a favour and keep scrolling.

it was a fast paced environment with a ton of responsibilities. Pay was low but they had great benefit plans. many tasks requested of me, were not in the job description, like opening and closing the school salon on certain weekdays, counting and balancing till of the school salon at closing, cashing out clients. those extra tasks were not compensated, but expected.

My instructors were great teachers, understanding and knowledgable.  It was a friendly work environment and there more than enough clients to allow us to practice our skills on.  I feel that I am prepared to enter the work force in the field of esthetics and the school also helped me search for work.

 Very stressful place to work, set up for failure , will be accused of things you’re not doing then punished for it.. you’ll be asked to do things such as decorate a Christmas tree then be yelled at for having glitter on you .. you’ll be belittled  and yelled at constantly. Everyone is a snake  don’t trust anyone they will turn on you 

I chose this school because I thought the discipline would be there. While I was in school the discipline was not there however I did learn the basics of hair styling, how to be a proper receptionist and how to get a long with other stylists regardless of differing of opinions and styles.
