McIntosh Perry is a company that is basically owned by a group of Private Equity who's job is to grow the company acquisitions, show triple-digit annual "growth" numbers to their investors, suck the company profits and then eventually sell the company to the highest bidder/go public (See: WSP). 

There is no incentive for high-performers to stay, as there are no performance bonuses or other incentives even for senior staff. Salary raises for going above and beyond are paltry and not worth it. Employees are expected to perform additional duties with no increase in pay. 

Psychology 101: Incentives make people want to go above and beyond. 

Decent coworkers, but management refuses to provide real support in the form of training/software tools to streamline work. Individual groups operational strategies vary wildly, which makes sense for a company that has been cobbled together through acquisition. Middle management and VP's do not seem to have a firm grasp of the financial status of the company. No KPI's are implemented or reviewed. Poor performing employees can thus slip through the cracks simply by staying silent.  

Employee utilization is measured not by how much they bill ($'s billed/month vs max. billed at 100% utilization) but by how many hours they charge. This is an antiquated approach that does not provide a true picture. 

If you are a high-performer, stay away. If you want a place where you can coast, this is a great place.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As per my experience, stress is not listed in McIntosh Perry dictionary. You will get the knowledge and support to achieve the task as per the standard of McIntosh Perry.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and professional environment. I joined recently and the team always makes me comfortable during work from seniors, management, and all the surrounding team.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working with the team, visiting sites, and preparing the facility assessment reports helped in maintaining the historical buildings to achieve sustainability and let the buildings last longer so the next generation can benefit from available resources.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Corporate and HR outside of Alberta (Ontario) were good.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of leadership and internal professionalism in Alberta was a problem. Little to no regard for the the well being of employees was given. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
100% work focused and Alberta management did not respect work life balance or boundaries with regards to “non work time”

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Quite stressful and often working alone without team or management support to deal with tasks in a timely manner.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great people and easy to work with.
Professional and experienced. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
N/A. Nothing stressful. 
They give you all project info and requirements.  Just have to show up and be willing to work 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professional and accommodating, everyone is there to get the work done in a manner that works best for both clients and contractors. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Productive and satisfying. You keep yourself busy for seeing what is next to come on the project and staying ahead with your work.

Coquitlam office is small, and is one of the smallest offices in the entire company. Paid well, and you were left to organize your own day. Work was challenging and was not repetitive. However, management here had zero interest in interacting with staff except for 1-2 outings per year. The other offices did all kinds of fun events and this office did nothing. Because of the lack of staff retention here, there was always overtime. When BC announced its state of emergency, this company was ready with lay-off letters within 12 hours. All that hard work, and you're expendable in a flash.

I worked at Mcintosh Perry just shy of a year. It was after about 1 week I started to regret my decision to accept the position within the organization. 
It became abundantly clear that there was a very high level of narcissism and arrogance among the management team and especially the manager I reported to. 
I do not feel that the organization and its senior management had my best interests in mind and would have done away with me without thinking twice.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Independent. I really appreciate everything they taught me during my time with the company. They were very patient and understanding.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Accommodations. They do not provide.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good work environment and non judgmental.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12 hour shifts doing Checker/ Scale Operater

-Each day is different, keeps the work interesting.
-Learned so much for exposure to many projects.
-Management does not micromanage and gives employees ownership of their work.
-Workplace culture is awesome.
-Hardest part of the job is dealing with tough clients, which is the case everywhere.
-Most enjoyable part of the job is working with collaborative and supportive co-workers.

Colleagues were always available for any assistance needed. Teamwork is greatly needed to accomplish tasks as projects are team job, not a solo job. Many facets of the workplace does support the ability for individuals to be able to work on their own, but also open to the opportunity to work with others, which helps improve your ability to understand the job and material in a deeper matter.

I am a student, I always had long hours (10-12 hours) every day as I occasionally had to wait until the Contractor left the site. I was lucky to have experienced Senior Inspectors and the Contractor Administrator to guide me throughout the contract. I enjoyed every part of the construction as it gave me valuable field experience.
