Typical day at work: Should up 15 minutes early to setup, open the door at 8:00 am and wait for clients to walk in or phone. Prepare for appointment and check clients in as they arrive. Print off any missing application that were added over night. Dealing with client is the largest part of the job they are either dropping paperwork off, meeting with their social worker or just inquiring about a program. Things are just go go go till 5:00 pm.

What you learned: I've learn that you can't take anything to heart but that you should not allow yourself to be walked all over. In this job, you will get rude client but also stress and over worker co-worker who may take their frustration out on you. Never allow that to be reoccurring but let your superior know immediately.

Management: Was like a revolving door and appeared to be fighting on your behalf but not allows, you had to always be alert and on your toes in order to not make a mistake.

Workplace culture: Among my immediate peer was happy and helpful, but when you getting into that second tier they were always like minded which made for a hostile environment.

Hardest part of the job: Dealing with client in sensitive situation or troubling circumstances.

Most enjoyable part of the job: My immediate peer, they made it worth going to work everyday.

A day at the Ministry of Social Services was filled with variety. Working as an administrative assistant on the main floor was both stressful and emotionally draining. Clients are not always the nicest. Sometimes clients are abusing drugs, have anger management, or do not understand the policies of MSS. 
Job specifications are constantly changing and management does not always seek administrative feedback before implementing changes which can be frustrating.
Due to the high volume of clients coming into Social Services, days typically go by fast. There is always work to be done, but it can all be done at your own pace. 
Management is awesome! Very easy to talk to, and try their best to place employees so that they are not overwhelmed and enjoy the work they are doing.

Dealing with troubled clients almost everyday.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I always concentrate on the tasks and duties.

attending client's homes, paperwork at office, liaison work with community supports, referrals to agencies, ongoing risk assessments, investigations.
Investigation skills, mediation skills, skill in dealing with difficult and resistant clients.
Management made efforts to address some of the concerns.
Difficult workplace culture due to low morale.

I really enjoyed working with the parents and their children. I took my job very serious and I gave it 100 % or better. I learnt a lot about the different parenting skills most of the families had and I managed my time very well. I worked well with my co- workers beside my supervisor the reason why I left this position I was stressed out by her and caused me to have anxiety attacks this would be the hardest park of the job when I had very little support from the supervisor.

This role is very serious and rewarding. The clients i served were diverse and its good to know Cree or Dene language. Each day is never the same and time management is important. Supervisors are supportive and helpful. Be careful as you can burn-out fast!

Clients can be challenging but the staff team is wonderful. Everyone is very helpful and the supervisors are approachable. When you begin to work here, you realize that a lot of the policies suck. Things could be run more efficiently to better help clients and prevent other burdens.

As noted I described myself as a person looking for continuous improvement.
Some co-workers were reluctant to change but once you describe the benefits most would at least try.
The most enjoyable part of the job was to see the difference made by doing something different.

This job allowed me to work independently as well as under supervision with a high case load. Ensuring children's safety and performing day-to-day tasks as the legal guardian of parents are essentially parts of this career. I was able to work with social issues such as addictions, homelessness, domestic and family violence as well as child endangerment.

This is your typical desk job, the days felt quite long sometimes but the work that I was doing made up for it. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and always offered me their help if I needed it.
