There is a big gap between the quality of life of a social worker (salary mostly) and the administrative workers. Social workers that are dealing with directly the clients have a lot to do and are as important. They are part of a union, but the salary is much lower. Also, this is a non profit organisation, but i had the feeling that money was not an issue and that it was pretty much managed as a business. They do a lot of good, but they could do much more by lowering the administrative workers salary (very well payed) to create more opportunities and a balance in the organisation and to give more the their clients in need.

Clientèle is tough, and of great variety. It’s a great place to learn how to intervene in a variety of cases, learning is on the job. Training is non existent. Colleague changeover is frequent & often disruptive. Supervisors on the floor are wonderful, but administration is heartless and completely out of touch with workers. OBM is a great place to get experience, and colleagues bond for lifelong friendships. It is a family. A dysfunctional but loving family.  

Management was disorganized and there was a lack of communication all the time. Right from the start, the person who was supposed to train me didn’t even know they had to. Clients were great and the environment was nice. HR was disorganized as well. 
I was happy to work there and it was disappointing when I had to quit because they wanted me to go on the COVID floor with no training. 

While what we do for the homeless is great and changes lives, management treats their employees as less than humans, the salary and atrocious and most feel they don’t listen to our security concerns.

The mission of the Mission is great, everything aroubd it isn’t

Pros: Good for students and part time. Learned a lot of to do and Not to do. Direct manager was awesome and knowledgeable. 
Cons: Covid years ruined the team spirit, sometimes lack of respect from long-time employees towards others (syndicated). Management will force you to do doubles if understaffed. 


Wasn’t working here- volunteered however nothing but good this to say about this place! 
The people volunteering were extremely nice- helped everyone out. 
We served the homeless and it felt like good deads to do to help people in need.
Very well organized 

no training, long hours with poor wages. 
Supervisors don't superviser, they hide in the office and only are seen at Lunch or smoking outside.

I enjoyed working there as I felt I was helping the people who were coming for help.

It was hard to work due to the fact that the environment of the workplace was harsh due to it being outside bur it was worth it because we were aiding the needy that in my opinion were suffering way more than me in this cold harsh weather.

Ok place to work, salary is low but it does have health insurance and a pension plan. You must have a knowledge of your job as training is very poor. Be fore warned.

we would make food and help the homless as volounteer work, we would prepare everything the night before so the next morning the homless could get a nice breakfast etc...
