I have never been treated so poorly. They portray such a "fun" image, but it is truly the most toxic environment I have ever been in. 
If you are part of the administrative team, you are considered bottom of the pile, and they like to make you well aware that you are worthless to them. Overheard management and HR discussing they are looking for low maintenance, quiet employees, low key giggling at the fact that they are aware of the bullying and are just looking for people that wont go to management about it.  They say things like "oh they are just co-ops", or "just an accountant". They are looking for individuals that will tolerate being treated like complete trash, and highly expect you to not speak up about it. If you decide to make a scene, they will let you go. You mean nothing if you are not a Partner or Manager.
A typical day here is enslaving yourself to pick up after overly entitled managers and partners that do not pick up after themselves. i.e - cleaning up their leftover food from sinks &rinsing out smelly dishes. They have no tolerance for slight irrelevant mistakes, they will make you feel bad for almost everything you do. Everything is your fault, even if you were doing exactly what you were told. Backstabbing, gossiping, bullies, nasty comments and no support from Human Capital. 
What did I learn here? That you will never be good enough, even if you are over qualified. 
Management is awkward and well under-qualified. Absolutely no care for employees, just there to look good. Management takes days to respond to inquiries. They micro-manage to a T. Everything you do is questioned, they do not trust their employees. Manager will makes a scene when you make a mistake and draw attention to situations to make them look better.
Workplace culture? Bullies get promoted. They reward tattle-tale staff, everyone sucks up for brownie points, it is basically like High School all over again. Partners ask you to do silly simple tasks that they can do but are too lazy to do. HIERARCHY is all they care about!
Turnover here is insane. 
They will lie and avoid things in the interview to lure you in and make them look better, but they do not live up to the image they portray.
If I could go back in time, I would not entertain any kind of interaction with MNP, I would have ran away!
All negative comments aside; they have okay benefits and 3 weeks vacation. OT hours are banked so you can take days off. 
They do many "fun" things to sort of hide all the bull people go through. (But if you do not participate they will also degrade you for that). 
There is nothing they can offer you to make working with them worth it!

Great when you are starting out and learning. Support really depends upon who your manager is and so does the way they do things. As a student, everyone is very nice and want you to succeed.
Also, you need to be comfortable speaking up and fighting for yourself if you are struggling or having issues with management because no one takes notice until you are almost out the door or about to be fired. That said, depending upon your issue, once they take notice they do work to help you even if you don't know it. However, that is very dependent on your issue. Personality deficits are your issue to deal with or to fix. (If they can be fixed)
Workife balance seems to be the normal firm way, which is horrible at some parts of the year and slightly better in others. Work is highly seasonal but you are still expected at your desk unless you are taking vacation or using up baked overtime.
Coworkers really make or break this job since you will be spending a lot of time with them. Most offices have great friendly people though and they are willing to help you out if you need it. Made great friends there. 
Expect friction between your office and the regional office and head office in Calgary. Depending upon the day you may not notice it but there are days when everyone is on edge because of something new the upper offices want. Again, local partners are mostly willing to go up to bat for you though.

I worked at MNP for 4 months and only learned 50% of what I should have learned. Most days I was very bored and had little to no work to do. When I'd ask for work to keep myself busy, I was given mediocre tasks that my skills were well above.

For context, I use to be an Executive Assistant with excellent skills in administration, time management, as well as office management. When a recruiter reached out to me about an Administrative Assistant position (I was relocating and had to leave my current employer at the time), I was under the impression that I would literally be an Administrative Assistant, but ended up in a reception role where no one appreciated my skills or the work I did.

I ended up finding a new position as an EA, but when I gave my resignation, people were negative and stopped passing along work to me immediately...not to mention all communication between admin management and myself stopped. When I communicated to HR how I felt, why I was leaving, etc. they didn't seem remorseful about my negative experience at their firm, not at all concerned about the admin turnaround in the office, and when I had already mentioned I had a negative experience, they still asked me what I liked most about working for MNP.

Overall, my experience was a 1-star and in my entire career I've never left a firm so quickly.

Working at MNP has been an incredibly positive experience for me. The culture here is truly great - everyone is supportive, collaborative, and genuinely cares about one another. It makes for a really enjoyable workplace, and I always feel like I'm part of a team.

One thing that I really appreciate about working at MNP is the emphasis on work-life balance. The company understands the importance of taking care of its employees, and makes an effort to support our personal lives outside of work. 

The inclusive culture at MNP is also a huge plus. Everyone is respected for who they are, and there is a real effort to make sure that everyone feels included and valued. This has made for a really positive and accepting work environment, and I feel lucky to be a part of it.

In terms of professional growth, MNP is simply amazing. There are so many opportunities to learn and develop new skills, and the company is very supportive of professional development. For me personally, it's been a great place to extend my accounting and auditing knowledge, and I feel like I've grown so much as a professional since joining the team.

Overall, I can't recommend MNP enough. It's an amazing place to work, and I feel truly lucky to be a part of such a great company.

I started work at 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm.
First part of day was to go over vendor invoices making sure all approvals for payment were met and making sure that if any product was received (stationery) that what we were being invoiced for product received. Coded & entered vendor invoices for payment.
However, MNP is mostly a client based firm.
My afternoons were for accounts receivable, client queries & processing payments. Proud to say that I always have terrific client relationships.
My co-workers are a great bunch of people to work with. I honestly believe that MNP takes great strides to show appreciation to their employees.
Hardest part of the job was not being kept busy which was very rare.
Best part of the job was that, from the get go I mentioned that I was not the type of person who needed or wanted anyone looking over my shoulder. MNP gave me freedom to do what I do, set things up the way I wanted and they depended on me to do things right which I did.
Also proud to say that I`ve always have very good job reviews and a raise every year.

Typical day is like any other day, if you know how to prioritize your time then you are good to go.  I have learned a lot as far as quality of documentation, what is expected and company standards.  Its a priority that work is the best of the best quality and you will need to endure some pressure at first but its a good thing to build recognition and trust.  Management, like many others are not perfect, I think at times its rushed to catch on and learn things but they try their best to accommodate you.  You need to speak up, be diplomatic and just have a conversation.  Work culture is great, very diverse and I feel comfortable.  Hardest part of the job is sometimes getting your point across, when you are not in control.  Enjoyable part are the benefits and great company events, services and programs they provide for their employees.  They do care about their employees but at times, they pick and choose as well.  Like most places its all who you know.  I do recommend this company, I have really become  fond of them (for now).  Its a great place to start your career, they love to take on new graduates, coops to be able to start a career.

Working in IT for MNP will amount to providing support for over a hundred offices with no consistency between them. You will be expected to work beyond the standard 40 hours consistently, especially during busy season and the pay is not comparable with other IT positions. Avenues of advancement are cloudy, and the company will do as much as it can to increase responsibilities without increasing compensation.

Having been with the company some time, I've seen policy, procedures and implementation essentially go in circles. Turnaround has markedly increased over the last few years while company culture has become increasingly less about the person and more about what they can do to increase value. The IT department is consistently run understaffed.

With all of that, I will say that the people I've worked with on the management level have been excellent. I've never gotten a peak behind the veil, but it feels like there are people here who do genuinely care about the employees, but are in a tough position of being squeezed from the bottom and the top. As well, there are people on the ground who are truly excellent to work with and are very good at what they do.



The staff along side you (from jr - sr accounting staff) are, for the most part, amazing people, but that’s where it ends. MNP has a toxic culture, culminating in a lack of communication from management, a lack of experience managing staff to produce high quality results and meet client deadlines, and by nature causing back stabbing and confusion for career progression. The partners are, for lack of better words, careless in their pursuit of deadlines, not staffing the right individuals on jobs, underutilizing good talent while over pressuring inexperienced staff to complete jobs outside of their realm of knowledge. Management does not communicate clear expectations of staff, leaving them unable to meet or exceed expectations and process in their career. Lastly, you are expected to work a billable 12-14 hours per day (busy season) and 8-10 hours outside of that, while making $10,000 - $13,000 less than other firms.

Just avoid at all costs, especially if you are a newly graduated accountant.

Super toxic work culture where if you do not kiss up to the management, they will find every way to make you feel like you know nothing and find a way to push you out. Every day I dreaded going to work, knowing I had to walk on eggshells.

Their training program is not sufficient. I felt like I needed to figure everything out on my own and everyone was too busy to help answer questions. Others shared a similar experience, but we toughed it out and did our best.

They say they value work/life balance, but only if its convenient to them. There were also numerous violations to the anti-gathering policy during the pandemic but everyone was too afraid to say anything.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Their pay and benefits are not worth the hassle of enduring their culture, especially if you are a new accountant.


My experience at MNP was not what I expected. While the firm boasts about its culture, I found the work environment to be unwelcoming and overly political. There’s a noticeable lack of support from management, who are often unapproachable and fail to provide clear guidance.

The workload is overwhelming, with unrealistic expectations and little work-life balance. Despite the long hours, there is minimal recognition or reward for hard work. Communication from upper management is poor, and decisions are often made without consulting the team, leading to confusion and frustration.

The emphasis seems to be more on profits than employee well-being, which contributes to a toxic atmosphere. There’s limited opportunity for growth unless you’re part of an "in-crowd," and feedback is rarely constructive. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend MNP to those seeking a positive, supportive work environment.
